1. No worries Looks like 62 AVRI's don't have matching h/s anyway. So I'm down to 64 AVRI or Nash/Limelight
2. Going to go for s/h as they don't make the 62 AVRI anymore. I was thinking of maybe Limelight or Nash instead but I've not heard of peterbuilt.
3. I know the 64 comes in a very sexy LPB with matching h/s but what could you get the 62 in. My next bass is going to be a stack knob in custom colour with matching head but can it be a AVRI ?
4. .73 tortex like my man Duff
5. Having used a couple of sets of Lakland flats I much prefer the feel and tone of Fender strings. Unfortunately while I've been away Fender seem to have stopped making 45-105 gauge. I now need to choose 50-105 or 45-100 ? Whice will I notice least ? Alternatively, who makes Fenders strings? Maybe they still do the 45-105.
6.
Yeah, you'd think at the price of a ticket, eh? I'm only going on what I was told happened and it's easy to say in hindsight that he played the same set as elsewhere, but when the act stops half way through a number and walks off leaving even the band wondering wtf has happened, comes back on and plays a final number with someone else on vocals, leaves again without as much as a "thanks" or a "goodnight" and the roadies appear instantly on stage to start to dismantle with thousands of people booing, you can see why people took it as a "storms off".
The Rodies did the same last night. EC walks off, lights go up and rodies decend. I thought that was unprofessional. Give it half an hour before the punters clear.
7.
Mate said he played for around 1 Hour 10 Minutes, when we went off at 10.00pm. He didn't even sing the last song when he came back on, Paul Carrick took lead vocals. He said the audience only realised the gig was over when the house lights came on and the stage guys came out and started to dismantle the gear!
That's how it was in Leeds too - I think he left early for the last song (probably after he'd taken his solo) and expected the band to carry on and didn't realise that people interpreted it as a storm off.
8.
Quite amused to read one of the comments in that report: After 50-odd years at or near the sharp end of the business I'm sure he would have been very worried to read this.
I think they need to replace "seriously" with "pay £100 for a ticket"
9. Good show last night. I've seen him a few times before, he lacked a bit of banter but it was a good show. Leeds Arena is good as long as you're not in the third tier. Clapton only played a couple of Strats in a metallic gunmetal with maple (nicely figured) boards. His bass player used a Fender 64AVRI Jazz bass in LPB with matching HS and an Epi Jack Cassidy in the acoustic section. Enjoy if you're going to see him this week
10. I'd love a Nash but why is the back of the neck poo brown ? Just out of interest is the name on the headstock a sticker? I might want to add a more "period correct" decal if it were mine
11. I love the Pino alike on the website, slightly too reliced maybe but it looks good with the desert sand.
12. These basses are lovely..If this was the P i'd be furiously selling stuff to fund the purchase! GLWS

14.
The RW idea sounds good to me, as it's a 60's clone/replica anyways... You could drop this in... http://www.ebay.com/...D-/170710176709 Maybe's a refin...bingo!
Looks good! A RW would be £500 Control plate £100 by the time you got it to the UK Refin in Nitro £150 £750...same price as a Limelight
15. It was Ricks fine 66 Slab project that planted the seed. I'd really like to do it with proper vintage Fender bits if possible. The Roadworn refinish is a good and easy way to do it but I think it would devalue the RW possibly? Unless I can pick up a cheap RW,
16. I am tempted to get another road worn and get it refinished.
17. Too much hard work to strip the finish on body and neck. Looked at that already as I have a CV P and J. Not really bothered about the neck stamp but the hump would be a nice touch.
18. Where do I get the bits I'd like an early 60's Jazz (possibly stack knob) in a custom colour. Ideally I want a Bravewood but I don't have the redies. I was going to go to Limelight but then had a thought about doing my own. So where do you start? I'd like it to be as historicly accurate as possible so routing hump on the body (of the correct size and wood) Rosewood neck (date stamp on the end like old fenders) Then what pickups and electrics ? I was going to see if i could get it painted and reliced by Retro on facebook...maybe in Burgundy mist, a very mild relic to look aged rather than used and abused. Thoughts on cost ? Cheers
