  1. It's practically in the post then 😄 I don't want to be an enabler (honest!) but maybe your band mates are right. Although I too manly play a 4, I wouldn't be without a 5 for those magic moments when a 5er is just so right for the music. In the past I played a 5 string as my main bass for a couple of years but it wasn't for me. I have an inexpensive Harley Benton 5er now for said magic moments.
  2. 🤣🤣🤣 brilliant!!
  3. In and out in the same breath. That's got to be a record! 🤣
  4. Hang on...surely trading exposes a loophole doesn't it? You're only changing the shape of a bass you already own, right? With no work required It's not even modding! 😄
  5. Saw this on another thread and it so deserves to be here. Really funny! 👌 Beware of The GASman...
  6. Heart Attack Man - Beastie Boys
  7. That was brilliant! "GAS Guy" 🤣
  8. It's A Shame - The Spinners
  9. I'm Free - Soup Dragons
  10. So Long, Farewell - The Sound of Music
  11. I'm in. I've got 2 ABGs to sell and the money will be going straight in the bank and staying there.
  12. Scream To A Sigh Happy New Year gang! All the best for '23. Live well, love hard ✊️
  13. The Doors Of The 21st Century at Wembley Arena some years ago. Terrible. Ray Manzarek was a snarky tool, the drummer had a kit so big as to give Neil Peart a run for his money and insisted on playing all of it all the time, and the bass player played the sh!itest slap solo I've ever heard bang in the middle of LA Woman which they all played horribly wrong. At one point it sounded like Ray, Robbie and the bass player were all at different parts of the tune. Ian Astbury who was doing Jim's thing was outstanding though, the best thing about it. No wonder John Densmore sued their derrières to cease and desist!
  14. Germoline - Dolly P
  15. Cor blimey, splendid job sir! 👏
  16. VindaLoo - Fat Les
  17. White Lines (Don’t Do It) - Melle Mel
  18. Was going to suggest the same. I do this on my upright because I'm a heathen hack. Doesn't harm the bass at all. That's my job 😁
  19. True Grit - Glen Campbell
  20. Too ill is when your singer is too poorly to sing but she can still play rhythm guitar, and I'm not quite as poorly but still tripping out on flu enough to think it would be a good idea for me to take over on vocals. I had never sung in public before. I gave it everything. It didn't go particularly well. Two positives gained from the experience were that I found out that I can sing and play the bass at the same time (a great surprise) and that the whole debacle was recorded so we have a good tear rolling laugh listening to it occasionally. Oh it's funny now... We did get paid still though and the venue closed down soon after so we never got to find out if we were never invited back! 😄
  21. Flames Go Higher - Eagles Of Death Metal
  22. I'm with you there 😄 Sorry if I came across as the pedant..✌️
  23. Brite Flats are a different string to the Pressure wounds. BF are roundwounds that are ground down then polished. Pressure wounds are just that. Roundwound wrap wire that is put under pressure so the string gets an elliptical wrap instead of round, making for a smoother string.
  24. I've used groundwounds in the past but couldn't get on with them (Elites and D'addario). GHS Brite Flats are a better groundwound from what I've read. Currently very happy with Dunlop flats which are bright and thumpy in a great way that suits any music imho.
