1. I have done it since 1968, still do it now apart from when I play my Brian Moore, (which is very rare), as that plugs into the back of the guitar, which is a very bad design cause it has fallen out of there before because I did not have it around the strap because it plugs in the back!!!!! Great idea, stupid design. Sorry Brian
2. Hi Steve, I currently do about 70% of those on your list including Funky Music.... First of all get someone to tell you what key all the songs are in, otherwise you will waste time learning the song and then have to transpose it. Hopefully you will have at least one practice with the band, listening to the songs on CD/MP3 is great however most bands do not start/finish and copy the entire song. So take a recorder to the practice and record the band playing the songs their way. That way you can practice at home without them as many times as you like. Also make some crib notes for the songs, what is the key that the song is in, and shorthand the structure so you know what the middle 8 looks like, and take it with you, better you have a prompt than you totally forget the song or structure, some people may think this is "unproffesional", B**llocks you are there to do the best job that you can in a short period of time. But most of all enjoy it! the adrenalin will get you through and it does not have to be note perfect, if it was then they would have booked a disco!

4. Last year we got £600 for a 5 piece, which at least one member thought that it was too low. However when you consider that that pub would normally pay £250 ita just over double or £120 per person I don't think it was unreasonable. If its a private function it would have been anything above £1k that I could have negotiated. I guess its down to are you doing it for money, fun or because you have too! and also where do you want to be on New Years Eve...
5. Two gigs this weekend, both went very well from an audiance point of view, however the sound was very different! Friday, small old pub with low ceilings so I took my Line 6 Bass amp, 59CS relic P bass and 79 Black P bass with EMG's and Badass Bridge. I could not get a decent sound, it was all bottom end boom, stuck the amp on a crate and it was still no better with both Basses. Sat, a Wedding in a large hall with high ceilings, took the Trace V8 with 4 x 12 cab, same guitars......how I love the sound of that amp, sheer bliss to play, although my back was hurting a bit on Sunday morning, should never have lifted the 4 x 12 into the back of the car on my own! Think I have got GAS now because I want to find a small Bass Amp that gives the sound quality of my Trace V8, think I may be looking for a long while!
6. Just added "Play that Funky Music" to the set list, (Bass line always reminds me of Superstition), and at the last three gigs it got lots of people up on there feet, even in pubs! Another good one is Hard to Handle!

8.
Wembley Loudspeakers is the place for this - despite the name they're in Shepherds Bush. Most other places you could try just send the speakers off to them for reconing. They also do a replacement service, where they can exchange your speaker for one that has already been refurbished, but you've got to be a little lucky for them to have something suitable in stock.
Thanks for the info, I will contact them and get my TE back in good shape!
9. Bump Less than two days to go to get yourself a six string bargain! Click here for Ebay link
10. Now that is one great looking Bass! if I didn't have one already I would be sorely tempted! I have a serious attack of Gas now.......
11. I would be interested in what speaker you go for, I noticed mine is torn in my GP7 250 and I need to replace it so was thinking should I get it repaired or replace it? Also if anyone knows best place to get one from it would be great. By the way they are great amps, (bit heavy). Mine is the first type with the black covering and must have had it for close on 10 years with no problems, (other than the speaker, but it still works), for bigger venues I add the 2 x 10 underneath, for even bigger venues the V8 comes out. Ta
12. I must admit it plays quite well, (although the extent of my playing it was about 5 mins at the most), however I saved it from its fate of being turned into a five string by someone with a black and decker and no skill. I will never play it as I have a 6 string Modulus, a 5 string Jazz and a number of 4 string basses so this just stays in its box.
13. Just put this up for sale on Ebay and thought that someone here may like a bargin! I have not used this and it is still in its box. I saved it from being turned into a 5 string by somone who could not manage a 6 string..... "In as New condition, with all original packing, labels and even unopened lead! Just to be on the safe side I would say 9.5 out of 10 but I don't think it has been used in anger at all. I saved it from someone who was going to change it to a five string and I could not let that happen and have never used it myself, (I have plenty of others that I use). I am now thining down my collection so this one has got to go! 6-string bass made by Washburn in a beautiful transparent red nice quilted top over a maple body, it has a maple neck with rosewood fingerboard and is fitted with the Buzz Feiten tuning system for more audibly acceptable, measured intonation. It is equiped with two soapbar style pickups giving a great sound, and is suitable for all styles of playing. It has active circuitry, bass and treble controls and total control over the pickups. I have checked over the Bass and can't see any mark's or scatches and it looks as good as, (if not better than) any Bass you would see hanging up in a Guitar shop! This Bass realy does deserve to be played and not sit in its original packing for ever, so it needs a good home with a player not a collector." 14. What is all this talk about selling! this is concept that is totally alien to me and I am sure that you have all been put up to this by my wife. I thought you were all nice people who loved Bass and amps and cables and effects but no! you keep talking about selling these wonderfull collectable items....... I have never had a problem with GAS The problem I have is the lack of money to buy all those wonderfull Bass Guitars. Now what I realy need is another piece of kit for my collection. But don't tell the wife please
15.
Yo do realise that this whole 'Bash' thing is just a ploy to get everyone's gear in a room so I can lock you all out and make off with it, don't you? ;0)
I would make sure you have someone to help you! With all those big rigs you will be easy to track down, just check out the local Chiropractors.....

17. More porn for you, here is the Oteil..... Hope you like it! I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE it
18. I get a big silly grin on my face when I use the V8 just like the smiley!
19. Here is the 59P And it plays as good as it looks!
20. Here is the beast :brow:
21. Anyone fancy trying out a V8 through a TE 4 x 12? Or how about a 1959 P Bass? A Modulus Oteil 6 string? Got any space in your car Dave?
22. If it wasn't for the Basscentre: I would not have my beloved Modulus Oteil 6 string I would not have my never to be without kickback 12" (great for small pubs, and kind on the back) I have never been to Basscentre since it moved, so the answer has got to be move it back and get the old staff in! Then everyone will be happy Cause no one had a bad experince before it moved did they
23. Not bad when you think she was a guitar player and only started playing bass about 4 years ago! Saw her on the Crossroads DVD last week, she is good, very good if you like that sort of thing and I do being a Guitar/Bass player.... No I meant the playing honest
24. 2nd Gig ever 38 years ago, broke my G string on my Bass just before I was about to play and did not have a spare Bass or string. Went on and played without a G string, if you pardon the expression!
25. Now you ask, yes I have! I was in Bass Center when it was in Docklands when my wife drew my attention to this fantastic 6 string. I played it loved it and had to have it but it was much too expensive and I could not afford it. I thought about it all week without being able to get it out of my mind, so thought I would make a silly offer, (1 thousand pounds less than the asking price) and they said yes! Many years later I still have it, and still love it. What is it? A Modulus OB1 Oteil Burbridge signature 6 String, one of the actual two reviewed by Steve Lawson in Guitarist, I think Steve still has the other one, a fretless.
