Just noticed, the bridge is not right either as they went for a slightly heavy one in 82-83, routing is not Fender I would say. String tree is not Fender
-
From memory the 83 would have been been a US Standard P Bass which would have had the revised tuners, See this Link the pick up covers were white and I do not remember seeing an option for that colour. The pickguard I would say is not original either. Once I have got back to my library at home I can confirm much more detail later if you need it. I happen to have a 83 P bass in White!
I was looking at a 968CS until I realised i) I couldn't fit much kit in one and ii) the depreciation would be less if I bought bass gear instead! Decent milers are getting harder to find though.
Trouble with the 968CS is that I could not fit my body into the seats!
cheers, I'll go try, if I end up putting my bank details up, go easy on me!!. Hi Steve, thats great its gone to another good home, shame for the UK that we will have one less though. ''Never to be used by me again'' Wow that sounds quite final, but if you ever needed to use one again, I'm sure something could be done with one of us here at least, and I for one would love to sit in the audience and hear another Bassman ripping through my amp. Now you got me thinkin bout the 412 , but, you know the car I just imported to sell on, well I'm goin to keep it!! same G.A.S different road.
Good move, it sounds like my 944, bought it in my mid life crisis and now will never sell it. I have had it for about 14 years now. I was going to replace with a 968 sometime ago, but decided to keep the 944 when I realised mine was better! Let me know if you want to try out the 412

Hi Sean, Glad you like the V8, to me there is no other Amp that comes close! Mine will be making its way over to US in December and as it is sold it is now sitting in its case never to be used by me again, but at least it is going to a good home to be played! I now have 2 people interested in the 4 x 12 but no takers yet....
Unfortunately I am one of them. This cab looks superb, and I bet it sounds just right. Good luck :0) ped
Thanks ped, this was my holy grail! Only used it with the V8, and the sound was without doubt in my view the best I have ever heard! and I have tried a lot of equipment over the last 40 years!
The Black jazz bass in question was dubious, looked like it had had a refin and the neck looked off in the photos. Difficult to tell, but the seller seemed like a nice chap all told. For the 69, a bridge will cost you £120 easy, and the pickups £3-400, with the pots coming in (if you're really that anal about it) at about £100. Shop price I'd be expecting an all original 69 Jazz to come in at around £2,500 with the original case and covers. I'd say the price you're asking is top whack for what looks to be a good example. On that basis, good luck with the sale!
I would agree with you there, I would expect this to fetch between £1500 and £2000 top wack, all original £2500 to £3000. At the moment the market has slowed down a little, (not surprisingly!), I for instance am not buying and there are some good bargains comin up! I think you would be lucky to get dated 69 pots for £100, especially as 69 was not a bumper year for Fender ouput, bridge should be no big deal as there are no markings to show what year it came from so how can you tell it's a 69?, pickups were the same over a number of years so could be found for about the price you mention. Nice Bass though, hope you get a good price. -
