1.
Got a reply from Fender regarding the pickups. They can supply them but there may be an 8 week wait. However the prices are great. 0055230000 PICKUP ASSY 75 JAZZ BASS NECK RRP £42.99 0055231000 PICKUP ASSY 75 JAZZ BASS BRG RRP £42.99 0019740000 PICKUP/SHIELD ASSY 57 P BASS RRP £53.99 Might go and get me some
Should have my Jason Lollar 51 pickup arriving this week, you may want to consider trying out before you spend money on the Fender ones? Jason Lollar Let me know.
 2. New shop opened last year in Storrington, nice friendly guys with some interesting stock. Went in there last year and they had a 51P in stock, may be gone by now. GJS Music Shop

 5. Use them on my 79Pbass that has active EMG's on and it sounds great, (actualy puts my 59CS P bass to shame) If only the 79P didn't weigh so much!
 6. I use a pair of Carlsbro Alpha 10 monitors, they come as a powered 10" and a passive 10" set giving you a small 2 monitor set at about £200. I have been using them now for about 4 years in pubs and clubs for a 4/5 piece band and they are great for the price, compact and will take a good kicking as well!
 7. Hi Nick, I use the Sennheiser, they are worth going for. If you want to try mine out some time let me know. Just make sure that you get the UK frequency ones if you want to be legal the non UK frequencys ones work ok and are cheaper on ebay but I would not want you to break the law...... :brow:
 8.
Wow, nice. Are you going to leave the body as a slab or add the curves?
Add the curves, wanted a 55 and this is the shortest route to getting one, and a lot cheaper than buying a CS 55. Plus I get a custom colour and better electrics, (in my opinion). I will rewire in cloth and replace the pots with CTS. Not sure if I will lightly relic it or not yet. It is to go with this... (Sorry guys and gals for post a picture of a G*itar on this thread!)
 9.
OOOHHH what are you doing to it??
From this To this Only it may well end up Sonic Blue And with Jason Lollar single pickup in it
 10. I use the TA501 with 1 x 15 and 4 x 10 Epifani cabe, and its a nice amp, light, plenty of power and an increadible amount of variation in tone. Not cheap but does what it says on the box.
 11.
SOLD cheers Steve
Thanks, will send you pictures once it is finished. Rest assured it will not be butcher job but a very sensative modification! Steve
 12.
Does he charge them £170 for routing?
Not sure as I have never asked him, was it one of them that quoted you that then?
 13.
Have you used him before?
Yes, regularly. Built me a 62 Strat Resprayed the Original 59 you see at the side here. Regular setups on my Bass and Guitars (I have a rather large collection of Basses and Guitars and try to use as many as I can.) He also does repair work for Guitar Village Farnham and Kingfisher in Fleet. The two local music shops.
 14.
Bump - I'm still looking for someone to do this work. I'm likely to be travelling to London a few times in the near future so can anyone recommend someone around Harrow or central London? – I’m gonna email Bill Puplett (from the “Recommended Luthiers” list) but can anyone recommend anyone else?
Joe White, his details are on the list earlier on in the thread
 15.
Ah ha, I was chatting with Hampster about him and will be taking my Musicman to him to setup sometime soon. I am in Camberley so only a couple a miles away. Probably not worth taking my MIM Fender Jazz 70's re-issue to him as its only a couple of months old and only needs a basic setup so I might take that to Andertons.
A number of people on this forum use him, (OBBM for one). He will do a basic setup as well, worth getting a quote if you are going to be there anyway. Sue makes a nice cup of tea as well!
 16.
Sonic blue would look ace. I see your in Surrey like me. Who is your Luthier and where is he based and is he any good?
Joe White, about 1 mile from Ash Vale station. And yes he is very good, he was at the last Bass Bash in Guildford setting up Basses.
 17.
Over on talkbass, someone has taken the Sting inlay out and filled it in and it looks brilliant.
May end up doing that, other options are to get my local Luthier to build one, (expensive but nice), or buy a 2nd hand CS, (even more expensive and not found any 2nd hand yet). I'm thinking Sonic Blue would be a good colour!
 18.
hows about this one http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=40101
I noticed this one, if it had the contour then I would have it off you. But then again it would not be a 51 then!
 19.
I tried one at the 2004 London Guitar Show. Wasn't a patch on my Sting, and the Custom Shop has never got the placement of the pickup cover correct on these (OK, that's really small niggle, but...). In fact, you can't install the pickup cover on any current SCPB without reshaping the pickguard slightly - they simply haven't got the pattern right.
Thanks for the info. Considered the Sting, but not sure I want his name written on the 12th fret of my Bass, after all he does not have my name written on his
 20. 864 views! Next time I want to sell something....I WILL USE CAPITAL LETTERS and say "NO TIME WASTERS" Won't need to bump it them Nice looking bass by the way, not my cup of tea but nice.
 21.
Trade for a really nice acoustic bass ?.
Thanks, but I have already got 3 that I do not use.

 23. I would also be keen to know if anyone has got, or tried the Custom Shop 55 reissue Bass?
 24. Over 750 views and not a single person interested in this? I would have thought that this is a pretty good price for a US 5 Jazz that has a £250 SIM's upgrade on it? Final price drop to £725, if no takers then I will put it under the bed for 10yrs and see what it is worth then!
