What about an Aguilar 1x12. I have one of the GS112 cabs and it's great. There's also the DB series which use the same driver as the GS, but due to differing cab dimensions and materials have a bit more in the mids. Never tried one but they're supposed to be even better than the GS series.

Shipping to Norn Iron is typically more expensive than shipping to, say, the highlands. Shipping to Eire will probably be more expensive again...

One of the tecamp (or the older incarnation tech soundsystem) cabs would be the job. The 2x12 or 4x10 would be my choice. Not that many about at the minute though. There was a glut of them for a few weeks there. There's also Alex's Barefaced cabs. I'd love to try one of those but I'm on the wrong side of the Irish sea...

Is there no way you can split your signal, treat the 2 halves signals differently and then blend them together again before the amp? Or add another 1212L, run one 'clean' and one 'dirty'. You're obviously happy with what the 1212L can do, and you don't seem to need any more than you have, you just want more tonal options. Or is it just GAS?

Sounds like you lucked out. If you like the one you're playing why not try and buy it? You'll probably travel a long way and try mucho crap basses before you find one that's as good. I'm not ashamed to admit I bought a Westfield P-bass a while back... only paid 20 quid for it mind you!

The Gallery have ordered them for people in the past but don't usually have them in stock - there are very few places that do stock them as far as I can tell. Great basses. Flanker's old 4 string (the Scarbee Celinder) is just about the best 4 string I've played bar none...

Tried the Lowdown 110 on a gig on Saturday and it worked an f'ing treat! Goes as loud as I need it to on stage and the DI sounds great... and the 'rock' setting is good to go after a few tweaks. Now my ABM can stay in the house as a pretty practise amp in the living room.

Good stuff guys! I'll get onto some of this stuff straight away (listening to Robben Ford here at the minute!). Could you guys also suggest blues tunes a classic power trio lineup could play without much re-jigging? My brother (guitar player - lives at the other end of the country) is wanting to put a trio together to play a local blues club in the next few months. ...was listening to the John Mayer Trio more for some Pino action than anything else! Guys, After falling into listening to John Mayer (Trio) a while back I'm starting to wonder about Blues music in general. I have some SRV and Hendrix, but who else should I be checking out? Have a preference for real driving, electric blues... Cheers Ian

Another weekend of trusty service from my abm combo! However I'm considering retiring it to home practice only (don't have an amp at home atm). A 300 watt amp is total overkill for what I'm using it for (basically a personal monitor and DI). Also don't like leaving it in our drafty, damp practise room. I hear a lot of people say they have to tweak their amps to venues - I must be the odd one out. I run the ashdown combo totally flat, gain up about 3/4, drive at 1/2, volume to taste. That's it.

Yep, my ABM C110 combo... although I DI to the PA and keep stage volume low (personal monitor really). The DI tone is perfect for me!
