  1. I've just put this one together - I say put together, but I can't find my velcro so only the tuner and compressor are "in place", hence the OCD-annoying misalignment. I also have EBS flat cables ordered to tidy things up a bit. First pedalboard I've had in a long time. The Cali76 CB is outstandingly good - I've never been a compressor fan but this has changed my mind! The Oxford has just turned up and it's a brilliant pedal. The Element is excellent now I know how to work the thing properly - I was convinced the touch pad was broken and even contacted customer service at Darkglass about it.... It wasn't, just designed to be pushed harder than I thought! I'm not overly fussed on the X7 in conjunction with everything else yet so it may be getting replaced... I always feel guilty about having a lot of money invested in pedals (probably because I spent so long as a straight into the amp kinda guy) so I'm always on the hunt for "same effect, lower outlay" alternatives. The DIY pedal bug has reared it's head again and I have Vintage Microtubes, B3K and Fat General clones to build so I don't imagine this combination will be fixed for very long!

I think it's the reverse. Bellow about 10 o'clock there's very little bass and very little output (without adjusting the level and drive to compensate). All comes back in after that and starts to sound really obnoxiously loud and in-your-face beyond about 1 o'clock, so much so I had to adjust the drive and output to control it a little. It reminds me very much of the voice control on the JOYO Orange Juice I used to have. I can't really comment on whether it's different from others in the series beyond saying my VT Bass modded British Sound doesn't lose so much volume or low end with the dial low as the Oxford does, but it still gets pretty obnoxious in the upper mids when turned up. I think this is going to be my always on pedal now, which is what I'd intended the VT Bass modified British Sound to be. I'd considered the American Sound but I would imagine this is a little edgier, which suits me just fine!

Yes! YES! And indeed YES! Brilliant pedal. Buy one NOW!

Arrived almost a week early! Won't get to play with it until tomorrow though...

Mine should be here at the end of next week. I have been using a JOYO British Sound that I modified to VT Bass specs with a few component tweeks, but the more I use it with my other pedals, the less I like it. Having listened a lot to the American sound demos on YouTube I think that might be closer to what I'm after, but the Oxford has a certain appeal since I do so love the Orange bass amps.
  6. Why teeny, tiny? A 125B enclosure (boss-sized footprint) with top mounted jacks doesn't take up much more space than a 1590A (the size you mention).
  7. If you had to pick which sounded closest to your Microtron would it be this or the enigma q balls?
  8. As per @AndyTravis, had one, sold it, regretted it immediately. And mine was not in the condition this one is...
  9. Absolutely top notch little combos these. Gigged with one as a stage monitor for a few years and it was plug and play night after night DIed into the FOH.

Joyo's Amazon store is saying 10 in stock @stewblack... 9 now as I've just ordered one myself!
  11. There's a Genz 4x10 in the classifieds for little money. No affiliation with the seller but recently bought 2 of these from @Gareth Hughes of this parish. I've yet to use mine in anger so maybe you can comment G?
  12. Try putting a patch cable in the effects send/return loop. If I recall correctly they suffer from corrosion on the contacts of the jack sockets which could cause something like this.
  13. If you go studio monitors it still won't feel right because the "feel" issue (and oddly the claustrophobia issue too!) will be down to latency. You could try adding a little mixer so you can monitor yourself directly via headphones, rather than having to wait on the return loop from the laptop. I was using a tiny little behringer for this until quite recently. Otherwise nearly ANY used bass practice amp will be an improvement on the guitar amp. I always recommend either the Roland Bass Cube 30 or the Line6 Studio 110.
  14. My recently acquired Vigier Excess 5 string is THE ONE. It amazes me every time I pick it up...
  15. This is a great little pedal. Just received mine earlier in the week. My touch sensor is EXTREMELY frustrating even after a firmware update and setting sensitivity level in Darkglass Suite, but it's excellent in every other respect!

  17. I bought a Squier CV Mustang for our wee fella. It's a great bass that I would frequently play myself... Which is, in truth, why I picked it!
  18. Edit: as has already been suggested! Why go low? It's a headache. Look at bands like VOLA. Tune the bass up to F# and high pass guitars.

  20. Looking for cheaper alternatives... But yeah, it's not the first time! 🤣
