I`ve fancied one of these for while as I used a 4 string one with a thrash band a while back (much to everyones amusement!) It sounded great and played well...
Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post........ Stick yer hohner up yer arse
 2.
you said it was brand new?
It was brand new when I bought it 6 months previous..... Is there anything else you`d like to know Kev?? Inside leg measurements perhaps
 3.
Not for the price! (what i paid anyway - £350 BIN, bargain)
Well thats a bit more realistic compared to £750.

 5.
£600, why??
Thats what they were going for... I dont think the second hand price for them is much more than that at the moment....
 6. I know these aren`t made anymore as they were costing too much to produce but I cant help feeling that the SUB stands for sub standard! I sold my brand new, 3 band eq, black stingray for 600 quid last year...
 7.
Hi All, I ordered a set of Gotoh GB707E Bass tuners, but on arrival found out that I had ordered a set of 4 for a 5 string.....whoops. It turns out, they don't sell them in 5's either, so it's either buy eight or have an odd one out! So I'm selling them on. It's a set of GB707E's - or these: http://www.thomann.de/gb/gotoh_gb707e_cb.htm As New. £30 (including P&P) Phil
Would these tuners fit a standard jazz mate? If they do I`ll take them.
 8.
Ahh. That seller's attitude pisses me off. How can you "not feel like" taking pictures for potential buyers? Either he is confident that he can sell it to someone else for that price, or he has something to hide.
I was a bit pissed one evening and decided to offer him $800 for it! Then I offered $805. He sent me a nasty email calling me a loser and a "douchebag" He told me that 800 bucks wouldn`t buy the air around this bass so I offered him $850 for the air! I asked him what "douchebag" meant and suggested that it might be someone that tries to sell something for far more than it`s worth!
 9.
The EMG's require 25k audio taper pots. If it's a 'bitsa' bass then you might have the usual 250k or 500k pots which wont work properly. Hamster
Thanks for all your help chaps!!
 10.
A "no load" pot has got a gap in the carbon track at one end that effeictively takes the resistance of the pot out of the circuit when you reach that point. I can't think straight enough right now to figure out what would happen if it was wired up the wrong way ! It's a non-standard part, though, and a little unusual. More likely to be dirt inside the pot, provided you've checked that all the connections to the pot are sound.
Sounds like a wrong pot, in the wrong place, at the wrong time!! Thanks mate!! Dave
 11.
I don't suppose it's a "no load" pot with a break at the end of the carbon resistance track is it ? Failing that I'd give it a squirt of contact cleaner to make sure there's no dirt causing problems.
It might be mate....to be honest I dont have a bloody clue! What`s the function of a no load pot? It`s the very last turn of the knob that causes the cut out. Does that sound like it? If it is that, would changing it out sort the prob? Sorry.... I`m new at electrics Dave
 12. Just finished doing up a bitsa jazz bass with active EMG`s and have a wierd problem with the tone control. The bass arrived with no tone cap so after a quick visit to the EMG site, I bought a 0.1 tone cap and soldered it in. Everything is working fine untill I turn the pot fully clockwise, then it cuts the signal. Help! Dave
 13.
I swear as i just read your comment my bass glared at me across my room and nodded. In a nutshell i would say it is toast because as someone said earlier in this thread that a good way to test it is if it sound like crap unplugged then it will sound crap plugged which is the case. Also i feel the tones higher are up the neck don't cut through the mix which will be due to the crap pups. Thing is i used to play in a band at college who did original stuff for a couple of years then we broke up and i lost inspiration. But now i find myself in a cover band who now play once/twice a week and i am getting hooked on the money but am still with the same old crappy bass. I think it is time to empty that hungry piggy bank.
You dont have to skin yourself either! There was a thread about the Squire Vintage Modified Jazz. £220 and it`s got everything you could want or need. Active pups, nice upgraded bridge and natural finish that looks cool! Anyone got any pic`s of their own models? I`m seriously thinking about getting one myself
 14.
Cheers for that info. Don't think it'll matter in this case - looks like the seller's in the huff now
Recently bought a set of EMG jazz pickups and all the gubbins from the states for £48. He charged 25 dollars for postage. I thought that was ok considering it still only came to £60 for the lot! Still hasn`t arrived though and that`s been nearly 3 weeks It`s only a bargain if the bugger turns up!
 15.
I don't get this '...plays like butter.....' - utter bollocks!!!!!!!!!!
I`m watching this bass aswell as it`s not far from me....... just to see if it really does "play like butter!"
 16.
Im doing sound technology and digital music. I think its a great course as i get to learn so much new stuff, like recording music, composing etc... etc... Better than doing History or something like that IMO (sorry to anyone who did history who read this )
Cool.....the best of luck to you!
 17.
There you go, I've corrected your question for you
Thank you Greeneking but there realy was no need
 18.
Rite bassists, iv got myself an epiphone thinderbird. (black gothic edition) Bought back in 2005, this realy is a great bass for any rocker wanting a good sounding bass for its moneys worth! I can tell you that 1st hand Anyway, pictures of it will be up in an hour as i dropped my other laptop which had the pictures *DOUGH* Unfortunatly this bass has on relitavly large ding on the botton right handside of it. However you cant see it unless you looking at the bass from underneath. (why you would want to if you wernt a bassist i have no idea ) I have been given a quote to fix this ding and to clean up any other inperfections of £50 which i felt isnt too bad so i could have got that done, but id rather just sell it to be honest as i never use it anymore realy. Its been giged once, which was when some bugger picked it up and clearly dropped it...and then didnt tell me. So im going to put this on offer for £200 "excluding postage" (you will need to sort that im afraid, unless you local..then i will drive to you) Im located untill saterday in Croydon in Surrey. Next week im in Oxford where im continuing my uni course. Any question PM me, any offers PM me. thanks the_house
Forgive me for being nosey......What`s your degree in mate?
