1. Thanks paul_5! The Behringer looks pretty sweet for £32 (on amazon)! It's not actually valve though, it's emulated...?
2. Hiya Terry, welcome to the party!!
3. Oo! The VT1-EQ-Bass Drive looks awesome for £150! http://www.davehallamps.co.uk/page29.html
4. I had a tuner mute that cost me about £35, one switch, one in, two outs, I think it sold for less than £10 on fleabay, in fairness it wasn't nearly as useful as your double looper... FInd out what it cost you then try for about half is a good rule of thumb for this sort of thing mebbe?
5.
I assume a 2-way True Bypass Loops with a blend
That would have been my guess too!
6. Red Onion used to trade on ebay, they made loopers, bypass switchers, tuner mutes etc, I had one, it looks like one of theirs
7. Wise man!
8. Superb colour!
9. These are awesome! There was one in the rehearsal studio a band of mine used to use when I was at school! Sounded fab!
10.
I'd still like a JO/DJ5 at some point, although now I think its a 55-60 and thats it?
Yep, apparently the 44-60 / 55-60 is the new Joe Osborne thingy...looks real pretty! http://www.lakland.com/44-60.htm
11.
Its definitely a good colour combo. I love Lakland necks, although i did prefer my DJ5 neck to the 55-01 (and my current JO4 that i have on my Squier), more so for the matching headstock and the blocks but all feel fantastic. I too have always avoided maple but now i have a thing for them, i think they looks great on the right colour body. Good luck with the 55-02, that too sound fantastic. I almost got a 44-02 last year in natural/maple. Great looking bass.
Thanks matey, it's funny how tastes and 'what feels right' change as we age disgracefully... I think there's a 3 month wait before it arrives but once it does there'll be pics aplenty!
12.
Thats a lovely Lakland. My first Lakland was a bog standard black 55-01 but i was very impressed with it. The shop (the Bass Centre) had about 7 of them and all were set up perfectly and all played well. Choosing one was a non issue. One day i will have another, and hopefully one like this. I thought the black one was very boring and plain looking.
Aaahh, thanks matey! She's a beauty! The finish is fab (suspect it's photoflame rather than a quilted cap but still...!), very pretty! The 'plekked' thing appears to be magic, it plays magnificently, the neck is the nicest maple neck I've ever tried (I've always hated maple and have had rosewood whenever possible!) The 55-02 std that's on it's way is natural with a maple fingerboard so very pretty but in a different way...
13.
Happy days mate I've only tried a couple of Laklands in the past, thanks to funkle, a Daryl Jones which was very nice, not quite my thing, but his 44-02 was simply outstanding! I think they were both Skyline models but the fit and finish on both were fantastic, and the tone and playability of the 44-02 was amazing! Cheers, Eude
Thanks matey! Agreed, I tried a DJ 5 string a while back and didn't like it at all but the 55-01 did it for me straight away! The workmanship is way above the price tag and the sound is superb! I have taken a further Lakland plunge and ordered a 55-02 from the Gallery yesterday!
14. Update - the Lakland is so good I've sold my Stingray5!
15. 3 brand new packs of unused, unopened and still sealed up, factory fresh Ernie Ball Regular Slinky Bass Strings (5 string set) 45-130. I have changed allegiance to Lakland strings (to continue using what's on my bass alread) so these will go unused now. £23 a set new (or £21 if you buy more than 3) from Stringbusters. £19 each posted within UK? (or £55 for all 3?)

Thumb rests

I like the idea of one but haven't used one in years since I borrowed a bass with one in the mid 90's...in fact, I've got a rosewood thumbrest/tugbar complete with screws in my drawer at home that I bought for something or other but never fitted if anyone's interested, I paid £8.50 for it earlier this year and it's only been out of the bubble wrap once when I checked it arrived before it went in the drawer...
17.
I remember it well Andy. Whilst doing the trade a little voice in my head was saying "what are you doing fool". Posting £600 worth of bass without any guarantee is not mormally something i would do. Never had a problem. Everyone i have dealt with has been a complete gentleman(woman). Long may it continue.
Absolutely matey! and likewise with the little voice of 'reason', the few chats we had reassured me no end!
18. I've had nothing but good experiences on here! My first trade was to mutually post guitars on the same day, neither of us had any feedback so we chatted on the phone and exchanged contact details etc, everything went swimmingly! I've had money bank transferred and have done likewise, paypal you name it... The icing on the cake was when Krispn posted me a Pickle Pie-b from Glasgow just so I could have a look at it to know whether I'd like to buy one (not his cos it wasn't for sale), sheer brilliance on his part! I did buy one in the end and I got it back intime for his next band practice too! I've only dealt with solid, helpful, genuine folk on here an dlong may it continue!
19. The PJB combos all have a good rep too... http://www.philjonespuresound.com/products/?c=9
20. So this is for Lefties who play lefty, not lefties like me who learned to play righty for convenience and cheap-er-ness of guitars... Let no-one call you cack-handed! Stand up for your right to play southpaw/upside down back to front/however you wish! Up the Sinistro!!
21. d) keep the original neck in case you want to go back (or if you want to sell it in future as 'all original' fetches higher money than modded) and buy a replacement fretless neck with machine heads etc?
22. Congratulations!
23. I ended up with a Certainbass p, '61 style, sunburst, tort guard, chunky neck and SD antiquity 2 p/up, looks the bizz and sounds perfect...
24. you gotta start somewhere...so how about: start with your budget (what would fit new or s/h), then your eyes (visit a bass emporium to look at as many as possible), then your fingers (does it feel right) and finally your ears (does it sound right)...?
25. Sam just bought my beloved and trusty Stingray5, paid swiftly, sorted out issues with the paypal fees immediately and helped me find the best deal for the shipping, all in all a very pleasant selling experience for my part and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend him to anyone in the future!
