I'm fine with this witch-hunt or excessive desire for clarification or whatever....I just hope this courtesy extends to others on here. I'll watch with interest
Interesting...what company are you referring to? I find all this talk of watts fascinating. Frank.

American, European, Japanese, Korean, Chinese

I also own US, Mexican and Japanese made Fenders. All of them are great and it's hard to see a great deal of difference between them. Especially when you consider that the most expensive one costs about three times the cost of the cheapest!! Now, having said that, my favourite one is my US made vintage 75 reissue jazz. But is that anything to do with where it was made? Personally, I don't think so. I just love the feel of the neck, the sound is lovely and the look is just lovely. Frank. -
Thanks for adding your experience/ opinions to this thread Lozz. It really is a very versatile and fantastic sounding setup. I'm very happy. Frank.

That's lovely Danny. It's a colour combination I've never owned but always loved. I hope you enjoy it. Frank.

I've owned a pair of these in the past. Used one for rehearsal and small gigs, two for medium to large gigs. Always on their sides and stacked 4 speakers in line. I like the sound of these cabs but they are middy sounding and it suited me fine. it won't suit everyone though. In all honesty, the TRV102P is totally trounced by my Barefaced Midget. The Midget sounds far smoother, louder, and much deeper. No contest at all. That doesn't make the TRV102P a bad cab by any means but it's not a good buy or good performer beside the Midget. The Midget is also smaller and lighter. Frank.
I do like the Roadworn Fiesta Red, its lovely! However, it needs haggling down in price...£975 is far too much.
If I'm not mistaken the road worn series are the same bass as the classic 70s jazz but "aged". If that's correct then you are paying nearly £400 for someone bashing it about. I rate my MIM classic 70s jazz very highly and I have trouble finding much difference to my American Vintage 75 reissue jazz which would cost more than twice as much as the MIM classic 70s new. Closer to three times the price maybe. The MIM classic 70s can be had for about £600 (they have shot up in price recently too) and they are really, really great jazz basses. Forget about where the bass is made. It's mainly about marketing to get a higher price for a very similar, perhaps even the same, product. Don't fall for it. Frank.

I only own one lead that I got in the early 70s. I've never owned another. I've used that one lead for nearly 40 years. Since I bought it new I've fitted probably 8 new jack sockets. Around 1980, and again in 1995, I renewed the entire cable but kept the existing jacks. That's what I call durable. Frank.
What does it look like?!
A box with a grill on the front. Frank. -
If it's not loud enough I'll get a midget to go on top.
I don't think you'll need a Midget. I did buy a Midget about a year ago to use for bigger rooms with my Compact but I've rarely needed it. It's been fun using the pair though and the sound is massive. Also, I use the Midget alone in smaller pubs and for rehearsals. The Midget is as loud as the Compact but not as creamy and deep. I prefer the Compact but I love the Midget and it's a very useful cab to own. What it means is that I have three rigs, small = Midget, medium = Compact, big = Midget + Compact. Highly recommended. Frank.

Just noticed this thread Dave. Being a 1212L and Compact (and Midget) owner I'll chip in. At absolute full tilt I think the 1212L will be slightly louder. But the loudness comes at the price of a mid-heavy tone and gets tiring on the ears I think. The Compact is almost as loud but has a vastly more rounded tone and is a more pleasing sound. A Compact is a lot deeper than a 1212L, there's not much difference in size but the Compact is a lot lighter and an easier shape for carrying. I would have no problem in choosing the Compact over the 1212L and the 1212L is a very useful gigging cab too as we both know well. It's just that the Compact is more versitile all round. Frank.
Looking forward to it. This might be the push i need to get one as well to replace my 1212L
I've had my Compact for a couple of years now Dave. It has a less tiring-on-the-ears sound than the 1212L (much as I love the 1212L too) More weight to the sound, smoother and far more versatile than the 1212L. The Compact doesn't seem to go quite as loud as the 1212L, but it's close, and the sound is fuller and just lovely. Plus, it's lighter. You don't see many Barefaced cabs for sale and when you do, the seller is usually selling to buy another Barefaced product. I prefer a carpeted cab, but the Compact finish is proving to be fairly tough and I can always touch up the finish when it gets well worn. Best part is how other bass players are disbelieving when they see the size of the cab making all that noise. You know you want one. Frank.

Bump. Are fretlesseseses unpopular at the moment? Someone must be interested in trying fretless for very little money. This bass plays extremely well, far better than the price would suggest. And if it doesn't work out, the buyer shouldn't lose any money moving it on at this price. The bass looks almost new. I've seen worse in guitar shops being sold new. Would someone mind confirming that the link to the pics is working please. Frank.

£70.00?? I can't value it any lower than this. Insured posting for an item below £200 value should be about £15.00 so it could be delivered to your door for £85.00. Treat yourself to a nice lightweight and very playable fretless for very little cash. I'm still interested in a telecaster too. Obviously with added cash. Frank. EDIT. Could someone please confirm that the link to the pics is working? Thanks.

As the previous owner of this wonderful bass, (only sold, along with other guitars, and my beloved car, due to two failed endowment policies) I can vouch for its versatility. It was bought for me by my wife as a birthday present, so selling it was painful I can tell you. This bass has a lovely focussed sound. The bottom end is earth moving and it has a cutting top and, with the U-retro East pre-amp fitted, everything in between is possible. Although it probably didn't really need it, it has had a professional setup, including fret stoning, and plays beautifully. I have treated it with great care. And Lee is a very decent chap to deal with so buy with total confidence. Frank.

I'm off in my campervan until Wednesday. Tuesday is a public holiday here in N. Ireland. So please don't be offended if I don't respond immediately to any interested parties. Also, just to say, I'm open to offers on this bass. Treat yourself to a decent fretless for very little cash. Or offload your unused Squier telecaster in exchange. (preferred option) I could add a little cash for the right telecaster. All offers will be given fair consideration. Frank.
