  1. Hi all, my title says it all I guess.... How do I alter the thread title? Want to offer FT as well as FS now....... Thanks.........
  2. back for sale..........the local youngster who wanted it has decided he'd rather keep his money to spend on an xbox or something! Kids! FS or Trade for anything interesting...........
  3. My 'main' instrument is actually the EEb tuba - I started on it when I was about 12 and played it and practiced religiously until I was about 22. I still have a nice Besson Sovereign 982 gathering dust but I don't play that often at all currently, or for the last 7 or so years. I wish I had the time to get back into it. I did A level music on the Tuba and played in all sorts of decent contesting brass bands - 1st and Championship section. Also loads of Orchestras, wind bands, brass ensembles, dixieland stuff etc. Played in military tattoo's in Canada and in all sorts of places. I started on guitar when I was about 11 - classical, then stopped when I got to secondary school and started the brass thing. I got a Fender strat when I was 14, then switched to bass at 16 - loved it ever since. I still have a 6 string and an amp but just to noodle about on home. i also have a Yamaha Clavinova which I just 'busk' on at home. I'm considering piano lessons.......
  4. You could possible get some info off his former band mate Darren Wharton - ex Lizzy keys player. You'll find his info if you search for Darren Wharton Dare. He now resides in Conwy, N Wales but I'm just guessing he may be able to help confirm this also..?? The song was recorded during a month at Rockfield studios - Produced and mixed by Steve Bush - of The Stereophonics fame........ Playing my 2002 Stingray........ 8. Ok, cheers - will check them out. The bridge is just 'well used' I guess...........It works fine but I was just after some ideas if I did decide to change it.........
  9. So...........I've got a 75 RI MIJ Jazz that I'd like to upgrade the pickups on. I'm after that 'classic' Jazz sound (or as close to, without spending £1500 on a 70's one)! A friend has recommended the Lindy Frailin ones - anyone got any comments on them? I'd like to upgrade the controls - Vol and tones also so any pointers would be appreciated. Also, I'd like to upgrade the bridge - I don't want anything 'fancy' like hipshot etc - just a decent, solid, reliable bridge. Any pointers there? Thanks all!
  10. I've recently 'inherited' an Mbox - I think it's probably getting on for 10 yrs old - it's the grey one. Original Mbox 1. Anyway, I'm having trouble getting it to work with my pc, which is running vista. Do I have to run it on a pc running Xp or is there a way around it? I have Logic also........ It's just for home demos etc. Thanks........
  11. a difficult one - I only enjoy it depending on the distances involved, the time and what I've got on the next day! There's 5 of us though and we have a splitter so we share the driving. I recall once having spent the weekend with the old band in London shooting a video over sat and sun, a few of us went out on the sat nigh to Camden and got royally wellied. We managed to do the 2nd day of filming on the sun, but were booked into Rockfield for the week from the monday am so had to go straight there on the sun night. We had 2 vans, I was driving one with the guitarist and we left London for Monmouth at 11pm - seriously knackered after 2 long days, crap sleep, a lot of ale and hung over. Somewhere along the M4 we were both struggling to stay awake so ended up driving the rest of the way with the windows fully open, shouting (in a funny way) at each other and punching ourselves in the face just to stay awake. The lads in the 2nd van behind constantly kept flashing their lights and calling our mobiles to try and stop us falling asleep. Never again. Stupid.org
  12. a common problem for many bands! A simple and cheap fix is to get some of those cheap yellow or orange foam plug ear plug defenders - you know, the ones that you squeeze and pop in your ear. Just use one in one ear (I tend to go for the side closest to the snare & hats). It cuts out some of the hi freq 'fiz' and sparkle and when singing, you can certainly hear yourself so much better. More importantly, it does cut some volume. Try singing / talking with a finger in one ear and you'll see what I mean - it's like you can almost 'feel' the notes, but is sooooo much cheaper than IEM's.
  13. Nice job Phil.. being honest, I didn't realise JJ was actually a 'singer'.......good. Is Rich still her TM?
