I've used a bridge J quarter pounder, but it's hooked up to a 2 band EQ preamp.

6.
Actually I think he made the right choice. Especially when you see it in the flesh. :brow: I tried the white one on but nah black is definitely the way to go. It doesn't come over too well in pics though.
Damn you and your buying things which are already in the UK!

Hi all

Welcome to the forum
8. Recently I've been doing some exercises from a book ("Left Hand Gymnastics for Electric Bass") and I've been noticing that I have a bad habit of putting one finger on top of the other (often finger 2 on top of 1 and sometimes 3 on top of 4) when I fret a note - like it needs a help to get down or something - clearly something that started early on in my playing. I don't think about it, it's just kinda happened as I've learned. I need to unlearn this! Any tips on how to eliminate this from my technique, other than watching my hand like a hawk and forcing those fingers apart with sheer willpower until it becomes automatic? There are some two finger exercises later on in the book (I diagnosed this problem with the single finger exercises), would concentrating on exercises involving fingers 1 and 2 (or 3 and 4) help separate them?
9. Sold Stuart my Fecker Imprecision bass recently. Good comms and prompt payment, can't really ask for much more.
10. Couldn't find a feedback thread for this guy, so I'll start the ball rolling. Andy bought my Takamine acoustic bass recently. Good communications and arranged for me to drop it off at a local branch of his work and got it delivered that way, which saved me a lot of hassle. Top notch.

13.
think they have one of these in rikaxxe music in bristol, think its a different colour to this though and a 5 string. It played very nicely Is this the one with the huge bridge in the body?
Yeah, I saw a Chaos 5 (the base model) in Satin Black Wash with flamed maple top in one of our local shops, but I think this is the nicest looking one of the bunch. Yes, it's the Chaos internal bridge - all the extra mass of the ones which are usually splayed on top of the body on most Trabens is concentrated in a slug of metal underneath the main bridge unit. 15.
I'm going to cry. A grabber for £180!
I could have bought it at the same time as I got my G-3, but didn't have the readies for both
16. Annoyingly enough, I saw a Grabber neck on ebay a few weeks ago and I thought of you. I wish I had known you were on the lookout for one, I'd have alerted you.
17. I know I shouldn't be doing this - pre-announcing this means it'll probably fall out of the plane and into the Atlantic, or kicked around and sat on in a Parcel Farce depot while waiting for me to pay the VAT man, but I am excited and can't wait for it to arrive! I've just ordered a Traben Chaos Attack 4 in Granite finish from the states - can't find any for love or money over here and I've been doing quite a lot of phoning around. Exchange rate has recovered to the point where after carriage and tax it'll work out about the same as getting hold of one here anyway so I sold a couple of basses and took the plunge. Enough talk, here's a suitably large stock pic: Controls are as you would expect: With 5 way switching, 3 band EQ and that style of pickup I'm expecting Musicman type sounds, but in an altogether more interesting looking package. I just love the matching burled maple body/headstock, the distinctive fingerboard inlays and that chunky bridge I promise pics when it arrives, hopefully in < 2 weeks!
18. Ach, if I wasn't about to embark upon home ownership for the first time, I would have seriously considered taking this off your hands. Sorry man.
19. Welcome to the forum As for performing in public, the best way is to just do it. Mistakes are inevitable, it's how we handle it is what counts.

21.
The EB-0 came and went (in bits) I'm now trying to sell stuff in order to get a Traben Chaos Attack 4. Will have to go stateside, there are none anywhere in the UK!
Aaaaand it's on its way...
22. In my experience/opinion any of these cheap acoustics will put off all but the most determined beginner. Also if you're going for an acoustic to negate the need to buy an amplifier then you're might be disappointed because these smaller bodied inexpensive acoustic basses do not project sound particularly well.
23. Black is the new black
24. I'd solder one wire for a beer.
25.
I would prefer to use some bog standard wood glue (the white pva type stuff that dries clear) is there any reason why I shouldn't?
No reason - it's "stronger than the wood itself". It's what I use when I'm plugging old screw holes.
