1. Labour costs mostly, just like getting your car fixed - pennies for the parts, pounds for the time it takes to dismantle your car/fit the part/reassemble your car.
2. Sold pending payment.
3. Hopefully not an issue, but the EB-2 is short scale, the Casady is not. I'm actually interested in the outcome of this, I'm looking for a case (or bag) for my DeArmond Starfire, a similar shaped/sized thing to an EB-2.
4. Welcome to the forum
5. Heh, that's pretty funky - I enjoyed listening to that. Good luck with this, hope you get an audition at least. Don't worry too much about age, it's about personality and playing. The age spread in my band is at least 10 years.
6. Still available folks. Help me disperse my GAS
7. The EB-0 came and went (in bits) I'm now trying to sell stuff in order to get a Traben Chaos Attack 4. Will have to go stateside, there are none anywhere in the UK!
8.
OK. Am thinking of doing something similar to my MM3. Would you suggest I avoid these?
In my experience, yes I would avoid the SE-2A. It's a shame, I have an SE-2 (4 single pots) in another bass and it's been fine. There are other options. You could get an SE-2 and not use the blend pot, giving you master volume, treble and bass. Alternatively, you could use a "higher quality" concentric control like an EMG-BTC Control (not the System - it's for EMG pickups only) in conjunction with a master volume and maybe something useful like a series/parallel/single switch.
9.
on the first song on the myspace (not had enough time to listen to them all - very short on time) the violin sounds out, but I really like the song. Amazing that you've managed to get such nice quality. Very nice melodic bass lines - maybe just sort out your timing slightly. Add'd!
Thanks for the comments - that was only my third gig with the band, so there's still some nervousness there. Practice makes perfect
10.
Hey. Is this the one you were going to stick an Artec SE-2A in? You still got the Artec?
I have two of those SE-2As but I suspect they're both defective - nasty pops and thumps and rustles from it when you moved the concentric knob. So will probably end up in the parts bin until I confirm that they're dud.
11. Everyone credit crunched?
12.
Good idea for a thread.. Neepheid; those changes are fantastic! What does the Bronco sound like after all that work?
A bit quiet (low output), but a bright, snappy tone with quite a wide variety on the tone knob - the pickup is actually a guitar one. Good slap tone. Unfortunately the through body stringing modification didn't make the strings much tighter - was hoping for a better improvement in that respect. I ended up selling it - too many basses, not enough time. I have no sentimentality when it comes to this business - I've sold my first bass, and this was the bass I used in my first ever gig. Photos is enough - cash is king, particularly with the house sized GAS the wife and I have got at the moment EDIT: I just remembered, there's some sound clips here from when I sold it: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...st&p=476545
13. New tracks up on our MySpace (recorded from the desk at last night's gig)! http://www.myspace.com/pandaeyesaberdeen If you'd rather have MP3 downloads, they can be got here: http://www.megaupload.com/?f=WC1QFDVR Comments/criticism welcome (whether it be of my playing or the songs as a whole)
14. Squier Bronco before (stock picture, sorry): Squier Bronco after (full size tuners, lipstick pickup, BWB pickguard, 4 saddle bridge, through body stringing): Fecker Imprecision semi-before (sorry, started as the body/neck of a Squier Affinity): Fecker Imprecision after (full size tuners, custom logo, SD QP pickup, BAII bridge, F logo neckplate): Epiphone Les Paul Standard before: Epiphone Les Paul Not So Standard after (EMG-HB pickups, EMG-BQC system 3-band EQ, John East knobs, "gold tooth" (quick fix saddle)):
15. Welcome to the forum
16. Well done! The body shape reminds me a little of a Gibson Victory, with the deep lower cutaway almost to the 24th fret.
17. Welcome to the forum
18. The Seymour Duncan Quarter Pounder pickups are also high output which may be to your liking.
19.
When I Googled the Hipshot your BC review was the first thing that came up, and the pics of it on your EB were what swayed me away from a conventional bridge. Thanks for the links, I'm pretty certain it would fit my bass, and the seller in the States is pretty reasonable. Interestingly, when you Google Westbury Track 2, half of the results seem to be about broken bridges - obviously there was an issue with the part! Really surprising considering these were Matsumoku basses & the quality control was generally excellent. Of course bridge replacement option no. 3 would be a standard 3-point bridge, which would return it to stock - and this does appeal to the JapCrap purist in me. I'm very drawn towards the Hipshot but I suppose I don't know if the Westy's a keeper until I've played it a bit & gigged with it - so I feel a bit reticent about buying a part that will cost more than the bass did! Have you still got your old one & would you consider selling or loaning it? J.
Sorry man, I sold it some time ago when I parted out my Epi EB-0. Bought it when the pound was strong last year and got £50 for it if memory serves, so I think I got all my money back

21. That bridge is so bad it looks photoshopped! I can vouch for the Supertone bridge, but yes you'll pretty much have to source it abroad. However, the pound is strengthening against the dollar so it might work out not too bad. Obviously, dimensions are quite critical - http://www.hipshotproducts.com/files/all/supertone.pdf $100 from BPR = £60. Alternatively there's always here: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...em=260456582644 - I bought my last one from this guy with no problems. Because they're in short supply here, you should get most of your money back if you choose to move it on, particularly if customs overlooks it on entry...
22. From Cort's website, it states that the neck width at the first fret is 45mm and 68mm at the 24th fret. No help, but it does remind me that I saw a Curbow 4 in the flesh yesterday and couldn't believe how small the body is.
23. Turbulence!
24. Bit too far for me to attend, but I wish you the best of luck Peter. Remember than mistakes are forgotten very quickly by most audiences, if they are noticed at all. Don't dwell on them.
