Wireless system - Lekato, Boss or something else?
neepheid replied to ots's topic in General Discussion
So... end of July, huh? Well, it took until September but now that my Sire Z7 is finally here (and I remembered about this conversation), I can confirm that the Lekato WS-70 does work with this active bass at least. -
What's the deal with Harley Benton/Thomann?
neepheid replied to neil___lien's topic in General Discussion
They've just released new instruments with the Harley Benton name, I think it's safe enough. -
Harley Benton HB-50 Semi-Hollow Bass £200-Orange or Cherry
neepheid replied to Magister Ludi's topic in Bass Guitars
The "them" in this context means "all short scale semi hollow basses" as in "there are plenty of short scale, semi hollow basses already", not "there are plenty of short scale semi hollow basses like this one". I did start the answer to your question with "No", but I realise that what I wrote after that may have been ambiguous, so apologies for that. -

No, and there's plenty of them already. It's great to see another long scale semi hollow out there, they are very much in the minority, at least that's how I see it. -
Blu De Tiger. This girl is going to go far.

I think the point I've been trying to make all along is that we don't have to/shouldn't be d!cks about it. -

Would a solid cover help? -

No, not always, just sometimes. "I'll spell her name how I like" / "Her name is so ridiculous it's not worth bothering." -

Took them long enough. Didn't take any of my feedback on board though (ha, as if what I say is important!) -

There's nothing faux about getting bored of a surly buzzkill who thinks it's "polite and considered" to continually misspell someone's name, then double down on it when called upon it because they consider her name to be "ridiculous". Contemptible behaviour, I'm glad I called them on it and I'll do it again if the need arises. -

*sigh* The surname is redacted. He is (was, dunno, haven't had anything to do with him since school) Harry Craig <insert surname>. Very funny, you got me there -
Not unless someone modded it. The stock bridge just happens to have saddles which aren't black.

I went to school with a guy called Harry Craig, but he used Craig as his preferred first name. Wow, that was interesting! -

How convenient. Dish it out, but can't take it back. A classic. I don't see what I said as abusive either, you are being a surly curmudgeon in this thread - surely the weight of replies disagreeing with your stance should tell you that. Do yourself (and the rest of us) a favour - go and have a think. -

You could at least do her the courtesy of spelling her name correctly. -

Doesn't make it right, and doesn't make me wrong to hope for better. We can do better - most of this kind of "commentary" is bitter, jealous bile. Can people not just be happy for someone making their way in the world instead of trying to tear them down in a ghoulish zero sum game of "if I'm going nowhere, I'm going to try and make sure I drag you down with me"? At the very least, keep it zipped. I don't really directly care that Blu De Tiger has a signature bass, it's a Jazz so I'm immediately out but I think it's a good thing for there to be more female beacons of hope in this sausage fest of a pastime/hobby/career/industry. -

Would be nice to live in a world where rhino skin was not a prerequisite though. -
So, where's her signature bass so we can have a moan about that?
-
Eh, just get a Z3 then - you won't miss what you never had.

I think mine's between 5 and 6mm on both sides. It's hard to measure because of the rolled edges. Either way, I don't have any bother with pulling strings off the side of the board.

I used to quite arrogantly just take one bass to the gig for many years but in the last few years I've taken two. Then I got the bright idea of swapping basses at half time. I don't give a monkeys if they're completely different basses - in a band mix, in a room full of pissed up punters, who cares which bass I use? At my most recent gig I played a Sire Z7 in the first half and my Epiphone Les Paul in the second half. Completely different basses. Why? Well, no-one's given me a credible reason why not, so I'm just going to continue to do my thing. If I take two basses to a gig, I might as well use them!

She's better at playing bass than me. Just as well I don't do it for a living then! -
Last night, Nine Lives played at O'Donoghues - first time we've played there. What a cracking night! Decent crowd, I could get used to these late starts (11pm) if this is the result. Lots of dancers, singalongs and memorable characters and incidents. Early on in the set, this big guy decided to take a breather and have a seat on the end of the "stage" (it's like a foot high, maybe) and promptly sat his big arse down on my pedalboard. Thankfully he was soft and squidgy enough that he didn't mute me or change any settings - I had to give him a few pokes in the back and he got up. Moved my pedalboard back a bit after that. Then some guy came up and tried to talk to me mid song, I mean like how? Anyway I glared at him and he bogged off but it put me off my stride for a couple of songs because it pi$$ed me off. But the winner was this guy who was very enthusiastic in his appreciation of us. He was trying to high five us/fist bump a heap of times (I acquiesced when I could) then he asked to borrow my hat a couple of times - I allowed him to take it off my head and wear it for a song and he was fine, it was returned to me unscathed. But there's more! I didn't see this, but apparently he got so into what the guitarist was doing that he undid his fly and proceeded to play air guitar with his penis being the guitar from what I can gather. I mean, like WTF? I think the air guitar/penis incident happened after he borrowed my hat. At least, I bloody well hope so. Still, was a busy and fun night all in all, and it looks like we passed the audition - venue has already been in touch asking us for our availability for next year. Gear was a shiny new Sire Z7 then my black and gold Les Paul into the usual Markbass tone cubes.
