  1. For the sake of this thread, I would say I'm VERY happy with the bass. Lovely lovely neck. Here it is with my McIntyre and my fretless Fender Precision.
  2. Not sure a Uni Pre and battery would fit in the existing cavity under the plate. It's a PJ so there are 3 knobs and a jack socket in there just now..... That'd be my assumption anyway.
  3. On that front actually, I wonder if that might be tricky with a chambered body.....
  4. I’ll maybe get it done when I get him to route the body to install a John East preamp. 🙂
  5. Cheers guys. Seems fair. Ive had Chris McIntyre (here in Edinburgh) make me scatchplates too, so that’s another option.
  6. So I've managed to get a hold of a lovely Jake, courtesy of another Baaschatter, and I fancy changing the scratchplate. Anyone have any joy sourcing one? I wrote to the <info at public-peace.de> address a couple of times to ask but got no response. Is there a better email address to use? Any ideas other than just getting one custom made?
  7. Just found this in a drawer. Bought it years ago ago but never used it so it’s in perfect condition. Happy to post.
  8. Lovely bass but for info Richtone are selling one new for £1439......
  9. Thanks for that. Does look slightly less contoured, but still comfortable? I play more with a pick so find slab bodies a bit unconfortable. Anyway, this is a lovely bass!
  10. Hi, How’s the shaping round the forearm area? Just like a normal P? Just wondering if it might be a bit thicker and less shaped there. Any chance of a pic looking down onto the body from the side?
  11. I've just converted my 2014 Fender American Special Precision to a PJ, so I swapped in a matching pair of Dimarzio pickups. As a result I now have the pickup going spare. I think it's the same pickup they used in the American Standard, and possibly still use, not sure. Great condition, sounds fantastic. As I said, I only took it out so I had a matching PJ set. Price includes P&P.
  12. I've just taken these off an American Special Precision, fitted by a previous owner. I believe they're a direct swap for MIM Fenders, but possibly some US ones too. Not totally sure. Good condition (I didn't bother buffing them up for the photo!) and working perfectly. Price include P&P.
  13. Yeah, I think a matched pair makes more sense and I’ve used Nordys in many basses. Saying that, i have a single coil QP in my Tele bass and I prefer that I think to the Nordy 51P. And it was the DiMarzio Model J that Tony F put in his original PJ fretless. Hmmmm! Anyone have a handy link to the measurements for the 70s pickup position? I think that’s what I want for this.
  14. I have an American Special Precision which was converted to fretless by a previous owner. It’s a lovely job actually - nice big slab of ebony. Anyway, I’d like to get a jazz pickup put in it, to make it a bit of a Tony Franklin clone. Any suggestions for pickups? I think it’s the standard American split coil that’s in there, so is there a good J pickup to pair with that, or do I buy a matching PJ set? Likely to get a 3 way switch, so want pickups to be well balanced.
  15. Thanks again. Don’t need this bass at all of course but am thinking about it....
  16. What’s the nut width on this btw? Some ads elsewhere say 42mm and some 38mm.
  17. Nice bass. How's the balance on a strap?
  18. That's lovely! Why are you selling it so soon?
  19. This is the hum-cancelling split coil version of the Nordstrand 51P. They say it "delivers all of the same great vintage tone, but allows for a quieter operation via its hum-canceling split coil." https://nordstrandaudio.com/collections/4-string-51-precision-bass-pickups/products/51p4s-hum-cancelling Perfect condition. Retails at around £120 in the UK I think. REDUCED TO £60.
  20. Cheers Andy. Will definitely get all that checked.
