Cheers. In that case they are definitely too long! I was wondering about the La Bella Low Tension Flexible Flats or maybe Pyramids..... That *actual* length for the TIs is really useful - I've not noticed other folk publishing this info but will have a hunt.

I've just discovered TI Flats on a fretless Precision I bought and I love them! I've tried a few sets of flats in the past but I never got into them, I think mainly because of their increased tension and/or their lack of sustain. Or maybe I just didn't give them long enough to break in.... Either way, I love the TIs, both tension and tone. Anyway, I'd like to try them on my Lakland Hollowbody short scale. The TIs come in short scale, but some folk seem to be saying that they're actually medium length (32"). Anyone tried TI Flats on a genuine 30" scale bass, or any other recommendations for short scale low tension flats with a similar tone to the TIs?

ACG made around 2012 I think. Bass is on Alan's website here: http://www.acguitars...ype-fretless-4/ American alder body finished in “grunge black”, 3 ply parchment/black scratchplate, 3 piece maple neck with Indian ebony unlined fingerboard (dots on side at fret positions), birdseye maple headplate with black veneer accent. 2 ACG FB humbuckers, Hipshot bridge, Gotoh tuners. Previous owner had the passive EQ upgraded to active 3 band Audere preamp, so controls are stacked volume/blend, stacked treble/bass, stacked hi mid/lo mid. Beautiful bass, in excellent condition. Some very light marking on the fingerboard from the roundwounds I have on it but very superficial. Only selling as I just accidentally bought another fretless here and want to stick to my one in one out policy! Based in Edinburgh, collection preferred, no trades please as I have already replaced it, gig bag included if wanted. You'll find it on gumtree too if you want to look now.

Unusual white M2000 Tribute, from a small initial batch that didn’t go into full production. White body, matching headstock, no binding, vintage tint on neck. It’s a great sounding bass in its own right (pickups and electronics are the same as the USA G&Ls) but I had a John East U-Retro Deluxe preamp lying around so I had it put in, wiring it to run at 18v. I think it improves the bass significantly. the bass has been very lightly used, condition as new really. The U-Retro mean the bass now has controls for: volume, blend, treble (with treble boost pull), bass, mid with mid frequency sweep, plus an active/passive push/pull combined with a passive tone control. There are some internal controls and jumpers inside which can do things like change it to a flat response etc that I’ve not really played with. Phew. First of all, I think the core tone of the John East is better. But the two key interesting additions here are the sweepable mid – I like boosting the mids a little near the bottom of the sweep for a bit extra low end warmth without any boom – and also the passive switching and tone control. The M2000 stock preamp has no passive mode. It’s nice to hear those humbuckers passively and roll the tone off for a bit more old school tone. So, this preamp give a massive range of tonal options to an already great bass. I do still have the original M2000 preamp which I will ship with the bass. Alternatively, if you want the stock one back in, I will get that done prior to shipping and I’ll sell the U-Retro separately. You’ll also see I have added Dunlop strap locks and a black scratchplate, which I just think makes the bass look cooler. :-) I genuinely love this bass, but a USA G&L came up on this forum which I couldn’t resist so I need a bit of money to help pay for that (and no trades please). If you haven't tried a G&L bass yet, do yourself a favour. The most underrated basses around. Based in Edinburgh but can ship at cost.

Bought a G&L bass from Ahron. No hassles whatsoever - good communication/info, prompt and secure postage, bass immaculate. All good!

No probs. Do let me know how you get on, fit wise. Watch out too - its size is very close to the width of a sheet of A4, so just check that your printer doesn't scale it down to fit.

Here you go. This is a scan of the underside, so you get the plate at its widest. (It's a 3 ply black/white black one so scanned the other way round you'd get the bevel and the white stripe). I've put a JPG and a PDF on. Not sure which one will make it easiest to view it at 100%. (Actually, the PDF seems to attach oddly, so you may need to use the JPG). Let me know how you get on. I'l be interested to know if it fits the L2000 as well. BTW I'll likely be selling my M2000 with this plate on it soon if anyone fancies it, as I'm buying a USA G&L. It's a lovely M2000 - I have a John East U Retro Deluxe in it and Hipshot Ultralites too. Sounds fantastic.

Yeah, mine's a Tribute so I decided to just go for it. I'll get onto it tonight hopefully. Feel free to nag me if I don't get to it in the next few days.

Chris just cut it and screwed it on. I guess if you didn't want to make holes in the bass you could just attach it with double sided tape. if you do decide to get one let me know and I'll pass mine back to Chris to copy. That'll make it easier than starting from scratch. Same as L2000? I'd assume so. I don't have one here to check though. What I might do is take this one off, scan it, then you could print one out actual size, cut it out and see if it fits.

Chris McIntyre, in Edinburgh. He made it by hand, based on the same pic as shown above. http://www.mcintyreguitars.com. I know some G&L owners think putting a plate on the L/M2000s is heresy but I think it makes them look better!
