1. Can't believe no one is interested in this beautiful bass. If there was an easy way to swap in a 40/41mm neck I'd be happy to keep it but that doesn't seem to be possible. Anyone got a USA G&L M2000 they want to swap? Or a Tribute M2000 and some cash? Or maybe even a Lakland 44-02?
2. Thanks for the info Pete. And yes, the G&L is beautiful. Looks great under stage light with that white pearl finish!
3. Here are some photos:
4. Can I just ask - what's the nut width on the VM4? Closer to Jazz or Precision?
5. I love the sound and the look of this bass but find the 44.5mm neck a little wide , so may sell it if I can get a good price for it. I'm thinking about a Sandberg VM4 (ideally VM4 Supreme or maybe one of the aged ones) next, so may consider a trade for one of those, maybe along with a bit of cash, depending on exact model. The G&L is immaculate, I've had it just over a year, lightly gigged, I have the G&L hard case (which has never left the house), authenticity certificate etc. Pics on post below but tech specs here: http://www.bassdirec...L2000_30th.html and http://www.glguitars...sary/models.asp
6. I have an immaculate G&L L2000 USA 30th anniversary, but I assume you're only only looking for 5 strings?
7. Thanks guys. All helpful. I had a guy somewhere else saying he just disconnected the light altogether. :-) Everyone, including Aguilar, seem to say to just ignore it. Why bother putting it there then, eh?
8. I did have the gain down lower and the master up higher to achieve the same overall volume and the clip light was still flickering. Anyway, from what I can gather, most folk seem to basically ignore the clip light! Need to play about more with the gain and see what it does to the tone. It obviously doesn't function anything like a normal gain, in that you can have it off completely and still have a signal based purely on the master volume.
9. I understand that it doesn't damage the amp, but I assume it is (or will be) audible, at some volume. It just seems odd that you can't control the preamp and power amp separately, as you do on most other amps, in order to prevent any clipping at all by the preamp. i.e. what if you don't think clipping is a "desirable characteristic"?
10. Hi, I've had a bit of a read around other posts on this but can't quite get my head round it so maybe someone can help me out. I've just bought a TH500 and love the tone. However, I found at a louder rock gig last night that my clip light was flickering quite a bit, basically at the start of most notes. I guess I'm a reasonably heavy player, but while the overall volume was quite loud, it wasn't crazy loud, and I'm worried I'm already at the limit of the amp's power, which (if true) is a bit disappointing. What I don't really understand is why the master volume seems to feed the preamp and not just the power amp. i.e. how do you increase the volume of the power amp, without clipping the preamp? I've attached a pic of my settings from last night. I tried various combinations of gain up or down / master up or down but still seemed to be getting this clipping light flickering at the same overall volume levels. For info, the -10db pad was in, I was playing a Stingray at about 90% on it's volume control, and was playing through a TC Electronic RS210 and a 112 (i.e. 4 ohms load overall). I really expected to get more volume out of this amp without the fear of a clipped signal. Is there something I'm missing? Cheers, Dave.
11. Beautiful honeyburst G&L bass. Made in 1995. This is a genuine USA G&L bass, not a Tribute. Although 18 years old, it is in excellent condition, with no dings or significant scratches. Some very light surface scratching around the pickups and on the back but hardly noticeable. The neck is perfect and the ebony fingerboard has recently been re-shot by Chris McIntyre in Edinburgh. I currently have nickel roundwounds on it, so some light marking on the fingerboard from these strings as you'd expect, but plays and sounds amazing. It has the standard #7 (1 3/4") neck but has a slightly shallower profile than the current G&L #7, making it feel more like a Precision, I'd say. Only selling because I just got an amazing new fretless from AC Guitars and need to pay for that. Would happily keep it otherwise. I live in Edinburgh, but driving to Norfolk on 29th Dec, so if anyone's on that route I could drop it off!
12. Interested in a trade for a TC Electronic RH450?
13. RH450 head for sale. Had it a few years, just fancy a change. A few light scuffs on the top but pretty clean and works perfectly. All the usual tech details here: http://www.tcelectronic.com/rh450/ Current price new is £679. Still need to do a little more research on a replacement but would possibly consider trade for Aguilar TH500 or Little Mark III. Or maybe a Genz Benz Streamliner. I live in Edinburgh but could package and post if required, for cost. Can add in Gator gig bag shown (which it fits perfectly in) for another £20. 14. Mr zed - yes, American, and no, no additional holes. The Badass is designed to be a direct replacement for the standard 5 screw Fender bridges. Cheers. Dave.
15. Sunburst Fender Tony Franklin signature fretless Precision bass. I think it was made in 2006. I’ve had it about a year and will be sad to see it go. It’s a lovely bass with a terrific warm deep tone. The combination of P and J pickups and the ebony fingerboard really make for a unique fretless sound. Only selling because I just got a USA G&L L2000 fretless and I can't justify 2 expensive fretless basses (or at least my credit card can't). Only things I’ve done to it is fit a Baddass II bridge (I have the original if you want it), fit Schaller straplocks, and to lightly sand the gloss off the back of the neck, making it smoother to play. It’s in great condition – the neck is perfect, a little surface marking on the fingerboard from the roundwounds I have on it, very light wear on the scratchplate as you’d expect, and a few surface marks on the back down near the strap button. Otherwise it’s perfect. I had it set up at Jimmy Moon’s last year, so it plays really nicely too. I'm looking for £950. Includes original Fender hard case. I'm in Edinburgh but can ship if necessary. Cheers. Dave. 16. I have a PDF template of the pickguard I had made for this. If anyone wants it let me know and I'll email it to you.
