1. How is this bass for balance? I know some of the Gibsons can be quite neck heavy.
2. I think I'll remove this for now. A local swap was a long shot but all I really wanted just now. (Don't have the cash to pay for a new Super Midget up front at the moment).
3. Lakland short scale semi-acoustic bass. Great tone, excellent condition. Short scale and lightweight so very easy to play. I used it mainly with a bluegrass trio but after that band's demise, I haven't been using it much and could use the cash. It originally came with 2 volumes and tone but I had that modded so that it's a master volume, pickup blend and tone. Easily reversible by any guitar tech if you prefer 2 volumes. Also, I swapped the plastic knobs for better quality some black metal ones I had, and I fitted Dunlop strap locks. Current strung with delightful La Bella white nylon tapewounds. I only discovered these strings recently and they are amazing. Here's the full spec - Scale Length: 30" Body Wood: Alder with Maple Top Nut Type: Delrin Nut Width: 1.5" Neck Wood: Flat-Sawn Rock Maple Fretboard: Bound Rosewood Fret Size: .041/.085" Frets: 20 Tuners: Hipshot Licensed Ultra-Light Bridge: Lakland top mounted tailpiece bridge Pickups: Dual vintage style single-coil pickups Controls: Master Volume, blend, master tone control layout Color: Tobacco Sunburst Bass has only been lightly gigged so is in excellent condition. There's one tiny dent in the binding at the 4th fret. I've tried to show it in one picture. I've genuinely never noticed it when playing. Apart from that, it's pretty much perfect. I think this bass was £800 when I got it a few years ago. They retail for $1035 in the States, and the only one I can find here is from Musik Productiv and they have it at £1255! UK prices are going up I guess. No trades. In Edinburgh but happy to ship at cost.
4. Thanks for the offer, but I'd rather have the same (v3) model as the one I have just now, so I have a matching pair.
5. Hi, I currently have a Super Compact and Super Midget. I really like them both but prefer the sound of the Midget, so I fancy moving to a pair of them instead. Ideally I would trade my Super Compact for a Super Midget, if anyone fancies a swap? If not, I guess I'll sell this one and order up a new Midget. Based in Edinburgh so ideally a face to face deal would be easiest I think. SC in excellent condition, just over a year old and lightly gigged. Pictures to follow.

7. I've been using Levi straps for years - the kind that are like seat belts. I like that they don't grip so I can move the bass around a bit as I play. I've recently been getting a little shoulder pain in longer rehearsals though, so am thinking I might try something padded/cushioned, but it needs to be (a) not too wide or unusual looking, and ( still nice and slidey (so not suede as many seem to be on the inside). Any recommendations?
8. Just bought a USA Precision from Tonci. Well packaged, good communication. Only hassle was Parcelforce being inexplicably useless, but otherwise, bass got safely from Croatia to Scotland. Trade with confidence. Nice bloke too.
9. Unusual and innovative desktop bass amp. I bought it online as 'B-Stock' but have hardly used it. I think it was B-Stock because it has a tiny mark on the left hand edge of the white front casing. The VU meter lights up but doesn't seem to do much either. Retail price is £599 and Bass Guitar magazine named it their Accessory of the Year 2016. It has a wireless transmitter so you can play from the couch, audio interface for recording, socket for your phone which uses an app for amp modelling, headphone jack, external speaker out etc etc. Check out the Ashdown website for all the details: http://ashdownmusic....131/BSOCIAL75W/ So, loads of features and clever technology in there, works fine for quiet practice, and good and loud as a home stereo. I just want something a bit louder for bass practice. Perfect though if you're looking for something multi-purpose for the lounge that (they say) your wife won't mind looking at! Personally I think it is overpriced for what it is, and it was B-Stock when I got it, thus the low asking price. Based in Edinburgh but can ship at cost.
10. No probs, thanks for getting back. It's a lovely bass for sure. Not that I need another one of course.... If I could get this little thing sold I'd be closer... https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-bass-amplifiers/ashdown-b-social-desktop-bass-combo/1210480006 Don't suppose you fancy a part exchange?
11. Hi. Can you tell me what the nut width is please? And also, how's the balance, given how light it is?
12. What's the nut width on this? Any neck dive? Cheers, Dave.
13. Ah, fair enough. I shouldn't even be looking anyway. :-)
14. Here's a pic. Not that easy to show! They're very much surface only - you can barely feel the at all. I actually had the board reshot by Chris McIntyre - it wasn't totally true, but it is now - and these lines reappeared almost the instant I started playing again. They don't affect its playability at all. They're D'Addario EXP Nickelwounds that are on it just now btw. Cheers, Dave.
15. And here it is: http://www.bassstringsonline.com/Bass-String-Lengths-by-Manufacturer_ep_47-1.html So, the La Bellas might be worth a crack.
16. Cheers. In that case they are definitely too long! I was wondering about the La Bella Low Tension Flexible Flats or maybe Pyramids..... That *actual* length for the TIs is really useful - I've not noticed other folk publishing this info but will have a hunt.
17. I've just discovered TI Flats on a fretless Precision I bought and I love them! I've tried a few sets of flats in the past but I never got into them, I think mainly because of their increased tension and/or their lack of sustain. Or maybe I just didn't give them long enough to break in.... Either way, I love the TIs, both tension and tone. Anyway, I'd like to try them on my Lakland Hollowbody short scale. The TIs come in short scale, but some folk seem to be saying that they're actually medium length (32"). Anyone tried TI Flats on a genuine 30" scale bass, or any other recommendations for short scale low tension flats with a similar tone to the TIs?
18. ACG made around 2012 I think. Bass is on Alan's website here: http://www.acguitars...ype-fretless-4/ American alder body finished in “grunge black”, 3 ply parchment/black scratchplate, 3 piece maple neck with Indian ebony unlined fingerboard (dots on side at fret positions), birdseye maple headplate with black veneer accent. 2 ACG FB humbuckers, Hipshot bridge, Gotoh tuners. Previous owner had the passive EQ upgraded to active 3 band Audere preamp, so controls are stacked volume/blend, stacked treble/bass, stacked hi mid/lo mid. Beautiful bass, in excellent condition. Some very light marking on the fingerboard from the roundwounds I have on it but very superficial. Only selling as I just accidentally bought another fretless here and want to stick to my one in one out policy! Based in Edinburgh, collection preferred, no trades please as I have already replaced it, gig bag included if wanted.
