4 piece covers band doing a varied selection of songs our way. We have a fairly good reputation in the area (same as the OP by the look of it). Pubs typically £320-£360 (though we do a favour for our favourite regular at £300) Social clubs typically £400 and weddings and parties £400 - £600. NYE this year £1000, though I think it should be more. Bands not wanting to do NYE? It's down to one or two of them "wanting" (having) to do stuff with the family.. 😉 A local pub I know will pay a max of £400, we are in at £360 but getting a gig there is a nightmare, they are swamped with requests for gigs. We are flexible with in reason depending on the venue etc. We enjoy doing it and the money is a damn handy benefit from it. Oh and it's a fair share out at the end of the night. The only thing we divvy in for is PL insurance. Gear is your own responsibility. (Our drummer has a thing about lights.. we just let him get on with it 😂)

When some BCers say they're not much cop at bass.....

When you get that look after having thus described yourself "I usually play in the pocket but with the odd fiddle about up the dusty end" and you realise they're not a bass player 😁 -

Agreed. It's rock'n'roll innit.

It would be great. Sadly though I can't see it happening as this would force the courier into having to admit obvious liability when it's their mistake (which it always is).

Oh no! I've been getting in to their stuff on YouTube. I love the old Fender spring reverb he has and of course I pay extra special attention to the bass playing 😇

Didn't that a$$ hat Phil Collins make a total dogs dinner of it on the drums too?

What also rankles is when you know you're a good entertaining band. Sure, not the best out there but pretty good with a different selection of songs. Engaging with punters, nice clean teeth.. you know, and yet you struggle to get into a venue that you see three or four decidedly substandard bands getting regular bookings. Not blowing smoke up our on bots, but it does get rather frustrating, especially when you find out the booker rarely ever sees the bands.

Overrated: My playing abilities as per undue adulation from drunken punters post gig!

Bought a bunch of part used strings from Tom and during the convo he said he had found some more and would throw them in too. What a star! Arrived in super fast time and I am more than happy to recommend Tom to anybody looking to buy or sell. Thanks again, I really appreciate your generosity. Mark

Grabbed a set of strings from David and they arrived exactly as per the description and in quick time too. Easy to deal with and I'd be more than happy to buy from David again. Cheers!

Maybe I should have put a big winking grinning emotie at the end of that 😁😉

Ooh! I'll try that when I get home later.. though his microwave looks a bit different to mine.

It was a total giggle! We were booked for a fancy dress party for some, well fans of the band I guess. The theme was Icons. So apart from 5 George Michaels, 6 Freddie Mercurys, 3 Slashes, 3 Elvis (what's the plural there?) and an equal number of Amy Winehouses (and lots of others of course) I'm happy there was only one me. A bass player? An icon? I had no other option!

Have you ever been tempted to learn a song... just in case!

Bands whose live albums trounce their studio efforts

I was just about to say Ramones - It's Alive Not necessarily better than the studio output, but TOTALLY captured their live excitement. -
Football club do. Drunken youngsters, beer and people all over the place. It was flippin' great!!

Yeah, not a huge amount of space but there is a bit more along to the right of stage. I really like the sound there. (It's meant to be haunted and not just by a bunch of my bum notes 😁)

Actually Friday, but it was a great night at our regular pub venue. Fantastic audience that was up and grooving pretty much all night long. Also my second outing with the 4x10 Ashdown cab I got from @richardd replacing the 1x15 and teamed up with the 2x10 I have used for aaages, so I'm running 6x10s 😃. Need to twiddle the fiddly knobs a bit more but it pounds!! HEFT baby!!

Diamond Dave's entrance at 0:24.. superb!!

Non existent stage lighting making it impossible to see guitar neck
Marky L replied to Stokey's topic in General Discussion
I've applied some dots of a neon yellow nail varnish right next to the normal neck side dots and they seem to "glow" very well under fairly poor light. -
I dig the soft focus.. the focus of lurrrve ❤️
