1. 3 strings? Wow!! Why so many? I'm lucky if I even get to use two!!
2. Let me add that the JJB really is a fantastic bass to play. It's just so well balanced and useable. I too prefer a slimer neck and normally err towards the usual B nut width so I was a little concerned about the width on the Shuker, but when sat in the hand, it really does work. As I recall, Jon Shuker would tweak the neck slightly if you prefered a thinner width. I can heartily recommended the JJB if you want a P that's going to do what a P should, but properly. Happy days
3. How about Big Bottom by Spinal Tap, that has three bassist, plus Derek Smalls on a twin neck. At a gig a year and a bit ago in Cardiff The Damned ended up with three active bass players on stage, Stu (current), Paul Gray and Bryn Merrick. You could say that four of their bass players were on stage though as Captain was their original bassist, but he just stuck to his guitar duties for this. The band I was in back in the earlyish 80's had two bass players. We swapped roles in songs with backing or lead vox and extra percusion, but we certainly played a few songs together. I love seeing two drummers play, that synchro thing just looks so good.
4. Had a great gig last night. Depping (which may become a permenant place) for a local covers band, who get way more gigs than my current band and that's a big temptation. Anyway, had two rehersals with them and then in at the deep end. The singer can go off at all sorts of tangents so it's a bit of a challenge, but damn good fun. It went really well but I did drop the ball a couple of times, getting lost in a song but I managed to work around it. Had to keep my eye on the the other guys in the band a fair chunk of the time as I didn't feel confident enough to go a bit wild, so I was a bit static..well for while The band were happy with my performance and I had some good backslaps from the audience lurkers at the end. All in all, I'm really pleased. Oh and I used my Shuker JJB (ex-Clarky) for the first time live and was very happy with it. I found it extremely playable, especially with chrome flats. Having been a roundwound guy for all my years, this is quite a change but they just feel so quick under the fingers.
5. This is the BTA and not the Big Block 427 yeah? These have the pre-amp stage from the ABMs I think. Where did you try it out? I would love to give one a go and have had thoughts around the 300 or maybe even the 200. I doubt either would ever get wired up to a 8x10 though, let alone two of 'em!
6. Yes, I am one of those. It's a shameful business and I'm not proud of what I do!! Actually I'm not at frothing geek level, but I always scope out what gear is being used, raise an eyebrow slightly and nod in a sage like way. It makes me feel like I'm a little bit more special than the rest of the hoi paloi there.
7. And hello from a bit further down the road in Bournemouth
8. Oh blimey!! Now this looks like it could be.. uhm.. fun!! http://www.lemmymovie.com/ If you scroll down there's a link to the trailer. Check out the dB meter in the clip too!! "..he squashed my frog!"
9. Not too keen on all the chrome that is starting to creep in. Looks a bit cheap to me. Tiniest little ding will stick out like Mark King's sore thumb.

11. God almighty!! That's bloody possesed by the spirit of some tortured soul!! Get rid of it quick. (I'll help if you like.. £20 and I'll get it all sorted for you )
12. Just got back from picking up the Ashdown Neo 2x10 that Dan has had for sale. First I must say thanks a million to Dan for being patient with me and trying the different cabs out and also to his lovely wife for making me great cup of tea. Fantastic cab in as new condition just as Dan said and he cut me a fantastic deal. Great chap to deal with, so if he's got something for sale and you want it.. just get on and buy it!! Thanks again Dan. Mark
13. In Eloise by The Damned, there is one point where Vanian pushes a bit to far on a long drawn out "Eloieeeeeeese" and to me it just sounds plain wrong. After the second verse as I recall, before the middle breakdown.
14.
As long as the 2 x 10 extends as low as your 15, I can't see that there is any difference in theory between a 15" with a 4 x 8" and a 2 x 10" with a 4 x 8". The Mini 15 doesn't go hugely low in the bass anyway.
S'what I'm thinking
15.
Is it me or are the single bass notes out of time on the intro to Another Girl Another Plant by the Only Ones
Yeah, I know what you mean. Certainly doesn't feel right when you are playing along with it.
16. Welcome to the right side
17. Rule #7 - There WILL be comments made on someone "being gay" and/or "a total nazi" within a day of the original post.
18.
it would depend on the design of the cabs but I would expect for average designed boxes that you'd get tight growly mids and the bass would be a bit flabby and boomy unless you had an accurate enough eq to dial out anything below 40-60Hz.
Tight growly mids sounds nice Bottom end bit should be managable, I think.
19.
Gonna be 'that guy' and say, try the 2x10 alone and the 4x8 alone, get two of whatever you like best.
Well, I'd dump the 4x8 to get 2 2x10s in the long run TBH. Just wondering if the 8 and 10 had been done by anyone.
20. So, I need to replace my Ashdown mini 15 and I have the urge to get a 2x10. It of course needs to be lightweight as I too am one of the many in the knackered back brigade. What I am wondering is how it would stack up with my Ashdown mini 4x8? I guess if I go down this route (finances suggest just one cab at the mo) then I would aim for the Ashdown Neo. I think my long term option is to get two of these. Giving me the flexability of one unit for rehersals and both for gigs. I have been reasonably happy with the 1x15 & 4x8 combination, typical rock style pub gigs, except I have always felt I don't quite get the projection of sound out front. So as an interim option, what do you think, 2x10 and 4x8 together?
21.
I bet you wish you'd written it though!
Yeah, under a pseudonym.
22.
I'm sure there's one in Born to Be Wild that's like the Jean Genie one where the bass goes for the chorus slightly early.
Yup, there's a definite bass mistake in BTBW.
23. Anyone know if there is a genuine aftermarket black scratchplate available for a 2000 G T'bird?
24. Hmmm.. The Police. So Lonely. I think in the 3rd verse, the bass comes in on completely the wrong beat. The Police. Roxanne. Listen thru headphones and you can distinctly hear a number of edits, often the tape hiss gives it away. Beatles. Day Tripper. Where was Macca going at the end of that song just as it fades. It sounds very much like he has lost his place in the song. I love hearing mistakes in stuff and imagining the produce saying something like "Look, it really doesn't matter. Yes YOU notice it, because you played it.. but the punters are too stupid to hear it mate. We'll just let it go OK?"

Ashdown.

Could be one of the original Klystron Bass Magnifiers? What does it say on the front? I have one of these very early 1x15 200W combos too. I think you should aim for the "first of a classic range" type thing and aim for the future collactability!! Otherwise.. no idea of price.
