Thanks guys. I like the idea of a pie tray.. shove it in your pie hole!! Anyway, this is for a Les Paul Junior copy, single P90. The earth lead is from the bridge and runs into the control cavity where it's contected to one of the pots. If I do shield the cavities, will I need to take a lead off the earth wire to connect directly to the shielding material? I would keep the earth connecting to a pot too.

This is where memory fails me, but wasn't John Lydon's brother part of The Bollock Brothers?

I need to shield the pick up cavity (mumble..in a guitar..mumble) and was wondering why not use aluminium cooking foil? The back of many pickguards use what I imagine is aluminium foil, so is there any reason not to use it for a cavity? I don't have any copper foil and just want to get on with my upgrades.

The only way I can do it successfully I have to be able to play the song with no issues, know it off pat, then I can concentrate on my singing and it needs to be a fairly straight for tune. Again though, if it's a bass line that has some interesting timing off the beat, that causes me big problems.

Just watched it. So, when is it going to pop up on ebay?? I suppose the issue is the provenance.. an email from Monte Melnick might not cut the mustard. Still the offers were insulting. As for that t*t saying another (what Ramones bass.. guitar) sold in 2005 for $535, well I really don't think he knew what he was talking about. If I had the money, I would buy. Dee Dee was an iconic bass player and I cut my bass playing teeth thumping along to the first Ramones albums, though I would prefer one of the earlier ones!

Well I'm just getting a wiring harness from John (KiOgon) as my chewing gum soldering is an embaressing nightmare! The neck is so damn lively!! I have a replacement that I'm getting laquered so I can get gigging it again. That pickguard would be for this one too as I managed to crack the orignal... hmm, just wondering.. the Black Banana didn't happen to be at the opening of Tutenkhamun's tomb did it?!?!?

Hey Chris Why does the pickguard not quite fit? If you happen to want to shift it I'd probs take off your hands, I'm after a slightly scruffy (ahem) one of that style. Just in case you do have a buyer for the bass and they don't want the the PG that is Oh and the whole thing does look damn gorgeous

Well, William Mysterious used to play bass with The Rezillos, so maybe he set the trend? Quite a swift player too, another influence in me taking up bass.

Could someone give me the ratings for the replacement orange drop cap for a Fender P please? To give it that vintage feel. Is it a Sprague manufactured unit? This leads nicely to, where can I find a single Sprague Bumblebee 0.022uf/400V cap to go in a copy LP Junior I trying to beef up a bit? Not being really up on passive components, I'm not sure of a reliable, sensibly price source forn these so any info gratefully received as ever!

Looks OK to me. My standard 2000 model is similar, black PUPs and tuners, though with the standard white pickguard. The paint is very slightly translucent and you can just see the wood grain if you catch the light right. [attachment=81975:Thunderbird.JPG]

There 99.99999999999% of the time always a bass line in there somewhere, not necessarily played on a bass, but there will be a bass thang going on. I don't think you can say that about any other instrument (or instrument sound) in popular recording.

I have exactly the same and thoroughly enjoy it. I'm not tied up about how I sound as long as I have bite and a thump on stage and that's what I get. It's rock n roll ain't it!!
