Black Coffee asked about the pups. Pickups - they seem a bit lower than I would set them. I'm thinking that a lift of 1-2mm would make the output just a touch stronger, which would be nice. When I loosen the screws they don't come up any higher. So I would find something to put under the foam that's there, stuck to the bottom of the pups. These things are a personal preference, so you may like it just as it is. There's nothing wrong with the bass, that I'm aware of. If there was a problem of the pup screws that go into the body. If there was a problem I would have fixed it. When I got the bass neck pup didn't work and the tone pot was knacked. So I re-wired the elects on the front volume and replaced the tone pot. Now it's all working fine. I might just take a look at the pups myself this evening if I've a bit of time.
OK, pics so far: http://s892.photobuc...owell1/library/
Miraculous result there on the elects! Absolutely amazing! Sad to see the body splits. That looks like it could be water damage. I'd welly some PVA glue in there, maybe water it down very slight for the first 1 or 2 applications, so it sinks into the bottom of the splits better. This has the makings of a really nice bass though.

What you're seeing here is the reality of the internet, regrettably. Because we all use IDs and avatars, it's only too easy for folk to forget the "ID" they're being rude to is a real person with feelings. Don't worry York5stringer, most of us here would email you back and be friendly. We might even have a short chat. But like in all things, there's always some plonker out there who lets us all down.
I know there have been similar posts regarding Sales and people saying they will buy stuff, then going quiet, but just wonder what the Collective feel about the above issue? For myself, if I posted in "Items Wanted" and someone contacted me and said "I have this item for sale", I would at least reply to them out of courtesy and ask for further details if interested, or say, "No, that's not what I'm looking for, or I have bought one now, but thanks for taking the trouble to PM me." Given that we can all see if a PM has been read, and at what time, there should be no excuse for it to be ignored IMHO!
Yes, even if I don't need one of whateveritis any more. You went to the trouble to answer my ad, so you deserve an answer.

Hi there, I'm continuing the cull of the basses here at Grangur Towers. Here's a bass I bought as a project, but don't have the heart to strip the body etc. It's in really clean, almost prefect condition. Nice weight. Complete with low action setup and New Fender round-wound strings. It'd make a good back up for anyone. It could do with some attention to get the pups to the best height, but otherwise it's a good bass. I'm located about 20 miles up the M11 from London, but I also travel about in the south. So I might be able to deliver. Or I can ship by carrier at cost. Full Info: Passive electronics: Vol, Vol, Tone. Maple neck, Rosewood fingerboard. 20 Frets - no visible wear. Basswood(?) body - seems like solid wood. New Fender round-wound 0.100 - 0.040 Strings Dings and scratches - none much to speak of. No buckle rash anywhere. It's a really nice bass. I could just use the cash right now. Thanks for looking

There may be a few pencil marks in 1 or 2 books, but they're in great condition. We're open to offers - I have Mrs G's permission for this(!). Postage is included in the prices below. Met Julien today and traded my BareFace BigOne with him for a Midget. We were both pleased with the trade, I think and Julien is a nice guy to deal with. Good coms and an all-round Gent. Many thanks Julien.

Creating an 'external amp in' into a combo
Grangur replied to goonieman's topic in Repairs and Technical
I've got a Mark Bass CMD121P combo that has a jack lead from the integrated amp that plugs into a socket to the integral speaker. I guess this is the sort of solution you're looking for. If you would like help to do it, maybe telling us the make and model of the combo would help. Pics would be even better as we aren't all familar with all combos. -
Sandpaper could be a bit harsh, unless you use an extremely fine grain. I've used a soft (old, well used) kitchen Scotchbrite sponge. Use it dry and gently rub down the neck.
How would this stand up to a 3-4 person band practice?
On it's own No. You would need an amp as well. Actually: It may well. Can't be sure until it's really tried in anger. If I recall the conversation correctly, Alex seems to think it's loud, but may require a 2nd cab for gigging. I guess it depends on the drummer and the room.
I seem to remember a youtube of Toto doing it live with Lee Sklar. Can't find it tho. Anyone?
I found that my EA Wizzy 10 (which is very close in size to this) and a Markbass or other small head fit very neatly inside a padded bag meant for a cajon (which are usually around 30 x 30 x 50cm). So that could be a good option for something you can sling over your shoulder and lug around.
Thanks for the link to Cajon. Didn't know about that https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-uLsM9vp3dw
Thanks for putting a name to the bass player. Now I am not criticising his playing when i said he didn`t have the stage presence of Jaco. It was more tongue in cheek as even Jaco would struggle to have any if he was on the same stage as Buddy Rich.
1st rule of posting on a forum: Read all responses before posting.
The bass player doesn`t seem to have Jaco`s stage prescence
If he'd grabbed the attention of the audience to the same degree as Jaco, Buddy Rich would have fired him. 1st rule of being in a band: Remember who's band it is.

Question here for the wise: Is there any reason why I shouldn't use it as an expansion to the CM121? I know that due to the watts rating, of course I'd need to keep it turned down.
Can you put it beside a can of Coke for scale purposes please (not one of the crappy tiny ones you get on airplanes) I can only truly gauge the size of something if it's beside a can of coke.
As requested. The combo on the left is a CMD121. Both have their back panels parallel. Coke can is standard size. It's really light to carry. I'd say making one that has a docking port to take the amp would be a cool option; so the amp is protected and saves you carrying it as a separate item.

New Cab Day! http://i963.photobucket.com/albums/ae112/richard108/Mobile%20Uploads/2015-09/IMAG0683_zpsmmqh5nie.jpg I'm really pleased with it. Met Alex and learned more about their thinking. Great guy. He'll do well. He is doing well.

Oohhhh... Great minds.. That looks cool. I like it.
Is that Ford Fiesta metallic purple?
Yes, it is. I like using Halfords paint I find it works well and it takes some knocks. They also have a great range of colours straight off the shelf in shops that you find everywhere. I have no invested interest in Halfords etc, etc,.

Squier Jazz 'Silver Series' BIN £200
Grangur replied to Paul S's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
A bargain for sure and probably worth the petrol money from S London. However I'm looking for an excuse not to get it, so I'll say the fretboard is a bit light in colour. Phew!
Some linseed oil would soon darken that down. There, I'm being helpful aren't I? -
