1.
agreed!! c
I don't get The Beatles either....I think The Stones & The Who were better
 2. Great bass solo. Don't go a bundle on Rancid except for 'Ruby Soho'...sound too much like a poor man's Clash.
 3.
You can download them to your hard drive & I think you could use some video editing software to slow them down. I've got something that slows video down but loses sound whilst doing so but I bet there's something out there that will do this. Downloading is easy http://youtubedownload.altervista.org/ will save any YouTube file &/or convert it to MP3 for you.
Found this guy's version which is the easiest to try and slow down and study http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ooF4JgxoACI
 4. Anyone know where you can get the tabs for this track? I just can't seem to get it right even when it's slowed down to half speed so I can listen carefully. Either 'Nard' had his strings detuned or something because I cannot seem to find the notes his playing!
 5.
+1
Wife + 2 kids....not gonna happen anytime soon
 6.
Depends on your taste in music, but I'd say almost anything by Rush for starters.
Yeah I've done a few Rush songs...Freewill, Far Cry (What a good track that is by the way)...got any more Rush suggestions?
 7. I have been playing Bass for a couplr of years now and used to have lessons. Due to financial reasons I've had to stop going now and I'm fast running out of stuff to practice to. Can anyone recommend songs that are a bit of a challange to re-spark my enthusiasm?
 8. Sorry I must be listening to a different album as I have already deleted it as i thought it was dull. Molly's Chamber was alright when it came out but beyond that I can't see what the fuss is about to be honest. Put it down as an age thing but most of the stuff I hear recently is just over hyped rubbish
 9. Just got a CD copy of the Chic live at the Boudakan and I can't even here the bloody bass in half the tracks!...I skipped straight to "I want your love" and couldn't even hear the bass part! On the plus side I just found another killer bass line from Nard on 'Sorcerer' by Norma Jean Wright
 10. Saw a guy at Canary Wharf underground station busking with one a few weeks back and it wasn't Tony Levin or Nick Beggs
 11. I think I read somewhere that Queen met Chic while recording at the same time in a studio and JD based the bass part of 'Another One Bites The Dust' on 'Good Times'...I think.
 12. Been listening to a lot of Bernard Edwards stuff recently. It is well document how highly he was rated amongst the bass playing community so I won’t go into that. For me he is in my top 3 all time players. I have checked out his stuff with Chic/Sister Sledge/Diana Ross/Carly Simon but I am just keen to hear as much as possible. Can anyone suggest some further listening as it’s damn difficult to find out what he played on unless you hear it by accident as I did with Carly Simon’s ‘Why?’…it was instantly recognisable as the famous ‘Nard’ before I even checked the credits! I understand that JT from Duran Duran was given his Stingray after his death (man just to hold that would be incredible) and that some over enthusiastic studio technician replaced all the original strings during a Duran Duran recording session!...saying that ‘he thought they looked old’
 13.
Personally I don't think anyone was overshadowed in Magazine. To me they're the epitome of a band of equals. McGeoch was fantastic though, such a loss!
Heard a Radio2 documentary about McGeoch and Steve Severin from the Banshees still reckons nobody can mimic the opening chord to 'Christine'...lol
 14.
I sometimes practice over the preset drum beats in my Zoom drum machine when the metronome starts to grate. Can get a bit repetative after a while, but there are hundreds of different beats from different music styles which can be fun. So, I'd recommend having a look at dedicated drum machines on the market.
You can buy various drum loop cd's from ebay that are good to lock in with
 15. I'm fast approaching the big 40 and one of the biggest regrets my old school mates and I said was that we never started a band. We all love music and if we had the chance to be 13 again and join a band we'd jump at it!.
 16.
I did'nt realise there were so many http://bassgirls.com/bg_directory_index.htm
Hubba Hubba!
 17. I used to have this on tape. If I remember correctly, he plays all the instruments pretty much. I think he started out as a drummer.
 18.
Im sorry, how can you not like funk!? Ok it may be jazz's deformed cousin but you cannot dislike it. Its almost not agressive enough to be taken seriously. Go and listen to some Parliment songs and if they don't bring a smile to your eye then your just cold. Oo
How can you dictate what people like? A lot of people think Dylan is a genius, personally I've heard better busking on the tube. I also think a lot of Jazz is garbage but if someone loves it good for them. You can't say what people 'must' like or they have no soul.
 19.
Funk is fine by me, and I'm a rocker at heart. Never, never will I be playing Reggae. Never.
Second that on Reggae...every Bob marley song to me sounds like a Persil Advert. FWIW I don't mind a bit of funk..I'm not heavily into it. I listen pretty much to anything that's good as long as it's not C&W, Reggae or R n B.
 20.
Whereas... There aren't many sights I loathe more than that of the botoxed mug of ALW.
I just feel really uncomforatble watching ALW...there is something not right there.
 21.
Space 1999 - John McCoy of Gillan / Mammoth fame provides the bottom 4 for the title music. Interview.
You couldn't make this stuff up could you ? I love this theme music...takes me back to 1976
 22. Just rediscovered 'Forget Me Nots' by Patrice Rushen (Still keep expecting Will Smith to rap over it) and discovered after a google search that a guy called Freddie Washington played on it. Anyone other suggestions that he played on as I can't the bass line out of my head at the moment!
 23. I just love Roxy's bass lines...Same Old Scene is just awsome and has been said it was Gary Tibbs who was also in Adam & The Ants. He also features in the video so it is him.
