1. Has anyone powered an eventide pitchfactor with a Pedaltrain Volto? Just wondered if you can?
2. This post cannot be displayed because it is in a forum which requires at least 1 post to view.
3.
http://www.hellfest.fr/ Festivals aren't dead.
...but they are sold out
4. I've always been a very happy Barefaced user (a Compact, and then a Vintage) and had great comms with Alex before and after my purchasing experiences, so that's the other side of the coin I guess. Barefaced are currently one of the few brands that still consistently gives me GAS, and I hope to get more cabs, if funds would ever allow (I dream of a 2x retro610 setup ) I am consistently surprised how much stick Alex and Barefaced get, and think that maybe people have so far expected a lot more of such a small company on the rise than they might even get from a bigger faceless company.
5.
Firstly, do you mean actual clones, or pedals that are designed to try and get that sound?
Mainly actual clones, I have a couple of OC2's and that's what I use, but wondered if there was anything that would give me teh very same sound, but with more options and extras to fiddle with?
6.
Well looking at the advert and the guy using it, it's very 'now' and hip....
Nah, he's been cool for a long time! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Daniel_P._Carter
7. Well at least Daniel P. Carter will have got a freebie...
8. What pedals are out there that are Boss OC2 clones at the mo? Are there any available by builders that have any added functions or mods etc?
9.
Too many festivals with too many stages , too many average bands and not enough headline worthy bands.
And this is the point of the original article, I totally agree. The world has moved on so its actually harder in my opinion to get picked up by a label, and even then, harder to get progressed and invested in by a label, rather than just sat on and left to tick over. Labels really need to nurture and grow their bands, push them to bigger better things, and we would end up with a new surge of headline bands in terms of size and sales. Some UK rock and indie bands have definitely been getting pushed this last year or so, which is brilliant, just look at bands such as Alt-J after Royal Blood and Marmozets who have leapt up to world fame. Some things are the other way round though, I have to admit, the bigger Muse have got, the less I have enjoyed their output, significantly.
10. After a gig in London one time, I had someone come over and compliment the band and ask about my bass, and I was more than happy to waffle on about gear and stuff as always. Had a nice chat, they were lovely. I found out afterwards they were the bass player in a pretty well known band, I even have one of their albums on my phone, I just didn't recognise them at the time
11. Just checked with Neil at Orange, and they have definitely binned the OB1-K off for these two. Bet they will be rare if someone can get hold of one of the demo units out in the wild!
12. I've been toying with another OTB since I sold my last one a while back, but between this and the OTB, they now both have some really cool features of their own, I just wish one of them combined the best bits I want so I didn't have decide which ones I would prefer if I ever go for it.
13. I also wish they had put a effect loop in it like the OTB, so it gave the option to just use it as a poweramp...
14.
Not sure there is great demand for a 10kg amp in todays market., outside bass geeks. Most bassists couldn't give a monkeys what class their power amp is, but they do care greatly how heavy it is. I'm very surprised they didn't use the very effective bass terror power section in this, to make it much, much lighter.
Agree on this, an Ideal would be a rack mountable bass terror!
15.
I recently fitted the new EMG GZR P pickup to my Nate Mendel precision and it sounds absolutely fantastic. Super simple installation and pure growly P-Bass all the way!
Just ordered a set of these myself and am looking forward to hearing them. I haven't heard anyone with a bad word to say about them so far!
16. I'm a big fan of a lot of horror soundtracks, and I do pin the blame firmly with John Carpenter. I have been a vinyl subscriber with a label called Death Waltz Recordings who have reissued a lot of the Carpenter scores on vinyl oer the last few years, amongst other great and weird releases. A few personal faves have to be the soundtrack by Antoni Maiovvito a short film called 'Yellow', the soundtrack to 'Beyond the Black Rainbow' by Sinoia Caves (Jeremy Schmidt from Black Mountain) and the soundtrack to the Shining conspircay documentary called 'Room 237' by Jonathan Snipes & William Hudson. The whole synth sound of horror soundtracks that I like also spills over into a few really cool bands that I like, such as Zombi, The Slasher Film Festival Strategy and Pye Corner Audio. 'Drokk: Music inspired by Megacity One' by Geoff Barrow and Ben Salisbury is another excellent example of a soundtrack style album. 17. I have a big pedalboard, set up just how I like it, but it is sometimes a problem setting up on small stages, so I kind of want to thin down and only have the essentials (well essential for me anyway) on a smaller board... But I don't feel like I wanna touch my board in case I do it, then regret it, then have to have the hassle of trying to put it all back just how I had it. Daft problem to have really isn't it haha Anyone else had these sort of pedalboard worries? Did you do it?
18. I have found these to be really good, and can get from clean to quite dirty nicely, cheap as well, I really can't do anything but praise everything I have had from Abominable Electronics - http://www.abominableelectronics.com/products/7247240-yeti-bite-double-jfet-boost-pedal http://www.abominableelectronics.com/products/10900041-mini-bite-tiny-jfet-boost One of my guitarists uses the Boo Boost pedal, which again is cheap and seems to do a great job. He uses it for a clean(ish) boost, so I couldn't comment on how much it breaks up as it goes on. http://www.booinstruments.com/guitar-effects/pedals/boost-pedal-volume-gain-solo-solos/
19. Does it need to be your old one? I only ask as I saw someone advertise one for sale on a FB for sale forum in the North East yesterday...
20. A sudden unexpected change in circumstances has me having to sell some gear that I would otherwise not want to, and first up on the chopping block is this... (on the left) Verellen Big Spider, with added blend control, so no loss of bass, just add it back in all you want This one also has one of a kind Kona sides, as when I ordered my Meatsmoke Preamp pedal after this, Ben said it was a one off, and he was unable to match them up. Nice big chunky quality pedal, sounds great. Verellen site describes it as - • GERMANIUM FUZZTONE EFFECT WITH BIG LOWEND • TWO FOOTSWITCHABLE TONES, ONE A FULL BORE GERMANIUM CLIPPING FUZZ THAT CRUSHES BASS OR GUITAR, THE OTHER A DARK SCOOPED TONE • SUPPORTS 9V BATTERY OR WALL WART • 14 GAUGE COLD ROLLED STEEL CHASSIS HOUSED BETWEEN SLATS OF BALTIC BIRCH STAINED AND CLEARED A Big Spider would currently set you back about £200 including delivery and customs charges, and that's without the added blend control or one of a kind sides, and wait time. Cheers.
