1. I think the word "contempt" is a bit strong. But I know what the op means - and it doesn't mean that the gig is not enjoyable or worthy, just that stood where we are stood twice a week watching folk dancing to the same old tunes, you sometimes lose a bit of perspective.
2.
And this is why I never worry about bills... Because although I don't always enjoy playing those gigs, it puts money in my pocket and that's the reason I joined a covers/club band...
this. I think there is a clear difference between gigging as part of your main income, and doing it part time. Mine is my job, and sadly sometimes it feels like it.
3. in all honesty, sometimes yes. Still love it though, and it's my job, and I think at the end of the day you get thoughts along a similarly destructive nature in any line of work from time to time. Would not change it for the world mind.
4. so I have added some pictures above. It's all in great condition, and all works superbly, and without fault.

8. HEAD AND TUNER SOLD PENDING> BUMP FOR EVEYTHING ELSE Right, potential change of transport incoming - not confirmed but if it happens, I will need to shift my stack and downsize considerably. Not too fussed as the new motor will be a sports car lol... Anyway, I had a few folk PM me before re some of this gear, and I still have those PMs so fear not, they will not be forgotten....however, I may have the need to sell: EBS HD350 Korg DTR1000 tuner EBS NEO 212 with cover EBS NEO 15 with cover The head will come either in the EBS rack box. OR if someone wants the head and tuner, it can come in a GATOR 4unit rack case. All in superb condition, and obviously I can do pictures. Like I say, I did have interest in the 212 and the head before, so these enquiries will be revisited, but if anyone wants the whole thing, it would obviously be easier for me to sell the thing complete. Nottingham, any trial etc. It's the business. Prices would be in the region of HEAD £400 in the EBS box 212 cab £400 incl cover 115 cab £400 incl cover DTR 1000 £60 Head and tuner in Gator case £500 Obviously offers invited, but it's quality gear in top condition and excellent working order. All based on cash, and collection from Nottingham, but contact me for other arrangements. Also interested in trades - smaller rig, small combo, BF Midget..you know the type of thing. I know nothing will sound as good as this stack, but there we go, needs must, or indeed needs MIGHT. Trades with cash my way please. OK, away we go.
9. ace. Did you not try a shuttle too?
10. Ok? I've got a Roland td9kx drum set. The brain has midi out. Also use a Focusrite saffire 6 USB which has midi connections too. I run this into a MacBook pro via USB, into the full version of logic. So, how do I take a midi feed from the td brain, into the Focusrite and then get the midi drum singles into logic, to appear as a drum track in ultra beat or whatever?
11. I used to group things with my AH gl2400 but in the end didn't bother. We were only 5 piece and it was simpler for me to just have everything separate. Simpler is better when mixing and performing at the same time. How hard is it to move say 4 faders for the drums? Those yams are great desks. I use a smaller version in my duo.
12. Nope but if you get a borrow a sansamp RBI or RPM I'll come and have a listen
13. from the Rockschool syllabus guide Grade 8: you will play effortlessly with a wide range of physical and expressive techniques at your command. You will be able to use these at will across a range of styles and musical contexts. You will be comfortable playing pieces employing a number of different time signatures (including changes from bar to bar) and you will display mastery of a number of musical styles. Your solos will be highly musical and employ techniques across the range. You will also be highly sensitive to all aspects of musical presentation. So it is a different idea to the classical grades.
14. Likewise. I hold grade 8 ABRSM Classical Guitar, and Grade 8 Trinity Classical Percussion. I think the difference is that with the classical pieces much of he technical challenge is already written in the music, and whilst of course you have to interpret the music to perform it well you are not expected to improvise your parts. The Rockschool is different, in my opinion.... I teach some students the Rockschool Grade 8 stuff (guitar, bass and drums), and believe that as much as you have to play the scored music well (and the above examples are very poorly executed), the syllabus requires that you develop your parts and playing, requiring your own input into what is actually played. The OP might be well served by finding out what exam boards he will be expected to teach if he lands this job. They are different approaches, and prepare and develop the musician in different ways.
Wow. Those bass pieces may be grade 8 but, without wishing to offend, they're certainly not played at what I would consider a Grade 8 standard. No feel whatsoever. I have put some students through Rockschool exams and my jaw has hit the floor at some of the results.
15. Well put.
Oh dear! This could get tedious. At the risk of repeating both myself and other posters on this thread:- The Rockschool pieces are not too easy to be Grade 8.... they ARE Grade 8. End of. Making a statement like this presupposes that you know something about what Grade 8 'should be' that those poor old muppets at Rockschool - who have, after all, only been doing this stuff for around 20 years - are not privy to. Perhaps you'd care to enlighten us. Better yet, maybe you should call Rockschool and tell them what it is they're doing wrong and how they can make their pieces more like proper Grade 8.
16. i'd go Rockschool. Job done.
17.
1. Rockschool Grade 8 is an internationally recognised qualification. If the bumph says Grade 8 then they should be fine. 2. Rockschool examiners are expecting you to put a lot of yourself into the performance at that level - it's not just the notes, it's your interpretation of them. If you want to show off pick a piece that has a good solo section and widdle away (in the style of the piece of course - a rock solo wouldn't get you many marks in a latin groove piece).
It's not easy to do well, sure it's not ABRSM classical level as written notes, but that is not the whole story of getting a good mark by any stretch of the imagination.
18. I know I've said it, but if you can find an EBS neo 212 give it a listen
19.
Not sure. It has the Blue LED's buy the look of it, so maybe. Mine went in a trade to Changles (if I recall)... Not sure of it moved on to here? I miss it, and the HD350. All my EBS stuff I miss! Lol
lol. I scored a neo 15 to go with the gear I got from you....awesome. I want a Fafner actually....but can't afford at the mo.
20.
Oh how I miss my Fafner. It's a lovely lovely amp.
is this your old one?
21. Oh Right ho, sorry. Hope you find anothe soon
