1. Or get a smaller cab (eg a 1 by 12 or 2 10) which by definition will have lighter lows.
2. And tilt it back as Bill says, to make it audible for you. Not much else you can do.
3. Mixing desk stand http://www.production-room.com/quiklok-stands/quiklok-ws540-mixer-stand/?gclid=CPb1vJz5pLUCFXHLtAodPl8AYg I use one, but for a mixer. Would do what you need. Although to be honest, it all seems like a bit of a faff. As bass players, we have the hardest job of the band getting a decent and consistent sound as rooms play havoc with our frequencies, so personally I just EQ them out, and find that the LM3 is adequate for this. I have the DI set as pre EQ, so I can EQ for the stage on my amp, and for the FOH on the desk. Job done. Easy.
4. Thanks but too heavy, thanks all the same
5. Thanks for the interest so fa. Bumping this, and adding trade optionof a Barefaced Midget T. I thank you
6. A mixing desk stand is the answer.
7. Here is my board - I use it for bass (not the wah) and guitar, and also acoustic guitar.
8. Here is my first attempt at this. I should have put audio fade in and out whilst the audio was still in logic, as I could not figure out how to do it along wiht the video in imovie. Anyway, it is not posted to showcase the playing as it is a bit sloppy. I recorded my MTD KZ4 (with upgraded Bart pups and pre - slight bias towards bridge pickup as you can tell) direct into a Focusrite Saffire 6 USB, into Logic. Video was shot using the Macbook Pro in built camera. Thanks Milton for the pointers.
9.
Recently got the Genz-Benz Focus LT 410T, and I'm pretty much liking it for what it is. I'm finding however during rehearsals and the one gig I've done, unless it is higher, around the height of what a 8x10 would be thus closer to my ear it's a bit boomy in the lows, probably some dispersion thing aswell as as coupling. I'm not looking at changing EQ as I already cut the bass eq on the amp to help cut some boom and not be overly loud in the lows(although when it's raised the bass is set at 12 o'clock. and lowering the low mids is a bit out of the question too since I really want the high mids boosted and the amp doesn't really allow for both to happen. I would rather be able to raise it with something that I can take with me to gigs incase a table or a big and stable enough beer crate isn't available. I thought about something like the gramma pad but even if it does rid the boom, I don't think it'll be anywhere nearly high enough. What else is out there?
Also, maybe the cab is errr not very good?
10.
What about something like this http://www.gear4music.com/Woodwind-Brass-Strings/Ultimate-Support-AMP150-Guitar-Amp-Stand/HDV or this http://www.dv247.com/amplifiers/quik-lok-bs317-guitar-amplifier-combo-stand--3183 I can sympathise with you in not being able to hear your cab. I've always struggled with single 410's and low cabs in general. I'm using a 310 vertical stack on smaller gigs now and I can now hear everything very clearly. Although they get scorn poured on them I've also invested in a sealed 810 for the bigger rooms. I've never had to crank it and it's really nice just having it sat there ticking over and being able to hear every note as clear as day. Hope you get it sorted.
I,used to use the quik lok one with a markbass 410
11. I'd put it at the front, except after wahs and env filters etc.
12.
People can sell (try to) stuff for whatever price they like. If they sell something on for more than they paid a few days ago, then... it's a bit cheeky, but c'est a vie.
Yep that's right. We are all grown adults and hopefully we take care to find out true value of items (completed sale research etc) before deciding to buy. If its too expensive don't buy it.
13. Here are some pics. Noticed that I should have cleaned the handles a bit before taking the shots lol. You will see in one of them the circular marks left by some feet attached by the last owner. Same on the end of both cabs.
14.
+1 on this, I think these should be the default bass overdrive choice.
Yes. Although for me the BDDI gives me everything.
15.
The claims that Auralex makes for what it can do are as phony as a three dollar bill, or your equivalent thereof. Stages don't boom because the cab is touching them.
Really?. I use one and have never A B tested n the same stage....so I just always assumed it must work
16. I think you should leave feedback now, I case he has anything else for sale....
17. the Ashdown can be had fairly cheaply new - define cheap though, as I reckon £70 for a decent useable unit is reasonable. Fair point on the BDDI.
18. Delays can happen but there are very very few occasions where a quick pm or email from a seller by way of explanation cannot be sent. Personally if I were the seller and was having problems I would still have messaged you, and would have found the time to do this even if I found myself in the midst of dire personal circumstances. It's called responsibility and courtesy, and I would have to have basically died to not have been in touch. C
19. So, as you might have seen, I have recently acquired two Markbass 102p cabs in in superb condition, and complete with fitted Roqsolid covers. Now, these sound great, particularly stacked vertically. However, we are planning MAJOR structural house work (new first floor basically) so I realistically need to see what monies I can raise from where. UPDATE 8/2/13 I am simply going to see one of them, as 99% of my gigs will be fine with just the other one on its' own. Price drop to £320 to include the cover. Good price I think. Based in Nottingham. Photos of both cabs below.
20. Just done an effects trade, all good, recommended
21. Brill, thanks :-)
22. I will holler if I ge stuck.
23. Cool. I don't really know how to use iMovie, so I'm going mess about in there, help files etc. logic I am fine with.
24. Well, so I gigged it on Friday. As I say, it is a bit ropey in terms of set up. But it works, and sounded great. Also really comfy to play. I broke a string half way through set one though (they must be very very old) doing some daft bending, as you do, so it was over to the MTD for the rest of the gig. I comparison the MTD is bigger and warmer and darker sounding, and sits in a mix better. However, the Hohner is bright and zingy and fun, and sounded great both clean and with a bit of grit. Ordered some double ball end Elites, and will get it cleaned and set up over the next few days. Need a new jack socket, as the old one is as loose as ..... Please, cost me nowt other than £30 to my tech to mend the preamp. New socket and full set up and fret dress will be £60 and then it will be one of my faves.
25. Good stuff My "day off"daytime lessons tomorrow (although it never ends up being a day off as such, working for myself) so I shall be mostly arseing around on the mac trying to get it sorted.
