IMO there is something fundamentally uncool about trying to be cool. Just be yourself man. You play bass, therefore you are the coolest person on stage. 'nuff said.

Does anyone have any experience or opinions of the Hartke 210 TP? I've seen a pretty good deal on one of these but it means that I can't try before I buy.

Some of the players I respect the most are those that know when they need to just hold it down for the benefit of the song. Especially when you know that they are more than capable of keeping it busy when required. Macca is a good case in point.

cheers Conan. I was wondering if there would be an issue with driving the 2 cabs properly as it's 350 watts into 2 250 watt cabs (500w)?

I'm thinking of putting a rig together. Obviously I'm going to check this out soundwise before I commit but I was wondering if anyone would foresee any issues. I thinking of getting an Ampeg PF350 and pairing it with a TC Electronics BC210 and then adding another BC210 at a later date. The reason I'm thinking about the BC210 rather than the Ampeg Portaflex series is mainly a space issue as I live in a small flat with my wife and daughter. I would therefore prefer the vertical alignment setup with the BC210s. Does anyone think there maybe any impedance or power issues? Cheers, Paul

A lot of the recorded kinks stuff is off pitch. If we are talking about the same thing that is. I've heard a theory that it was to do with the piano in the studio being slightly off pitch so everything had to be tuned to that.

I'd marry her, but I would just feel inferior in the bass department.

Joy Division and New Order came about during and in the aftermath of UK Punk. Punk showed us all that you do not have to have any "official" musical training or qualification to create melodic, emotional music in a reaction against the pomposity of the prog rock that had preceded it. This cleared the way for new bands and musicians to feel confident about going out there and getting on with it. BTW I'm not dissing prog, I'm a bit of a fan but artists like Peter Hook certainly inspired me more to go out, pick up an instrument, join a band and see what could be created. More power to him, if I make it to the Bass Show this year his "masterclass" or whatever people want to call it will be the main draw.

I find myself having to do bv more and more these days. I read somewhere (maybe here) that macca used to play much simpler basslines when perfoming live. I sometimes find myself having to make a decision as to which I would sooner compromise. sometimes it just takes a little tweaking of the bassline to allow me to get the vocals right and it doesn't effect the feel of the music in a live situation. however there are times where the written bassline is so integral to the whole feel of the song that the bv has to take a back seat. someone also mentioned recently phil lynott and the theory that he must have written the bass part and the vocals side-by-side to allow for any shortcomings.

does any one know if there are any decent quality gig-bags to fit the gibson sg? I'm after something that fits well without loads of extra space past the headstock.

[/quote] I felt this as well until I included a boss LS2 in the chain. It alows me to keep my original tone and just blend in as much as the effect that I need without losing any of the bottom end.
