Apologies if this isn't allowed or if it's in wrong section - please delete if so! There's a nice Cort 5 string in cash converters in Gloucester - dual humbuckers, wenge neck. Couple of very minor blemishes on the body but otherwise great. £199 but I'm sure they could be talked down.

I tried one in PMT in Bristol. Very nice (apart from the glossy neck). Sounded more like a MM than anything else I think, I liked it a lot but was bothered by the lack of a tone control, there's only a volume and a coil tap for the pickup. Some of the coil options sounded amazing, and some were a bit thin so could definitely have done with a tone knob IMHO.

Thanks Twincam. Yeah I'm not forcing anything, and I should have mentioned in the first post that I give a quarter turn then check relief, rinse and repeat.

I can get my bass to play beautifully and there's no abnormal resistance when turning the rod. I'm just curious and wanting to learn about my instrument, there's no need to assume there's a problem just because I'm asking a question

I was wondering because mine takes about a full turn from mid point to get the neck straight, (every time I change strings I return it to mid way and set relief) but I've read that some folks have given theirs several full turns and been ok. I always worry about running out of truss rod even though it's only happened once (not on this bass)

Hi! So, I feel like an idiot for asking this but I'm going to anyway. My truss rod goes both ways, and has a bit right in the middle where it's loose and has no effect on the neck - I'm told that's normal. What I want to know is, roughly how many full turns approximately do you get both ways from this mid point?

How have I only just seen this?! Bluejay, what were the 5 string necks like that you tried? Chunky or skinny or normal? Also were they the new (again) wenge necks?

Before reading anything, I voted 15/10/12 - I was completely certain about the 10 but not 100% on the other two. Not bad though! I'm glad I got the 10 right, I love 10's so would have been annoyed if that one had been wrong haha!

I'd seriously consider buying one at the right price. Scott, will they have a solid finish, or a nice ish top (not as nice as yours of course @ £2k+!) Glad to see they'll have a fixed bridge, I wouldn't have much use for a trem personally

I use D'Addario nickel rounds 40-95. Lovely very flexible so not to everyone's taste but they suit me fine.
