1. I'm still gutted about my Ibanez SR505M that I traded (badly) for on here a few years back. Major regrets.
 2. There is, I have one and love it. Worth mentioning that the rock bass short scale corvette body is the same size as the long scale, so if you found a rock bass SS neck you could swap them out
 3. For anyone still interested - collection has failed again today. Courier apparently rang the bell and no one answered, partner has been home all day and confirmed that no one has been round, no bell ring. Someone is not telling the truth and it's not my partner - either that or the courier has gone to the wrong house despite being given directions. What can I do? I'm worried that I won't get my money back, £200 is a lot of cash to me!
 4. Apparently attempted collection of the cab today but failed. Someone was home all day. Booked again for tomorrow. Starting to get really frustrated now
 5. I know it's opening a whole can of worms, but can I use a 12" with a 10"?
 6. So the cab is being collected on Monday and I'll get a refund (at least I hope so, I'm anxiously lacking confidence at the moment, can't be out £199) And the the rest of the mibass cabs in all the other stores are all 4 ohm. Not bad considering they apparently didn't make those, haha! No 8 ohm ones left anywhere, including with Ashdown directly. So if anyone has one for sale, give me a shout! I really want to complete my little rig!
 7.
Are you sure you're not over reacting a bit? Obviously it's the wrong cab and not suitable for what you want, and needs to be replaced or refunded with them paying carriage. But: As I read your first post it seemed to me that the chap was actually trying to be helpful. He didn't know how much you knew about these things, and in other circumstances, ie someone else, with a different head, they might have been quite happy to keep the 4 ohm cab.
Maybe to some, maybe not to others, but I don't think I am. One is entitled to feel how one feels.
 8.
It's not as described they should pay. I'd feel inclined to contact trading standards or CAB.
The last I heard from the second guy, he said "Obviously I can collect the cab on a day convenient for you but if you still need a cab is there any others you would prefer to go for?" So I'm assuming return postage is going to be on them. Hope that's the case. Also sounds like they don't have what I wanted (despite advertising it, grrrr) I'm amazed that a dedicated music store would not know that the difference between 4 and 8 ohm cabs is pretty important.
 9.
My son had a MiBass combo with what was supposed to be an 8ohm speaker. It was a 4ohm. Ashdown sent a replacement. It too was marked 4ohm. Both speaker impedances confirmed by multimeter. I really don't know what they are up to, and I suspect neither do they! EDIT: This was not from PMT! It's Ashdown who I think have dropped the ball.
So they were both labelled wrong? Wow
 10.
It's not as described, send it back, simples. You get 2 weeks when you buy online anyway. As long as it's sent back as it came.
Happy to! But not happy to pay return postage.
 11. Oh my nerves. I'm so hacked off with PMT online right now. Bit of back story - I've got an Ashdown Mibass 10 combo, that I want to add a matching extension cab to so I get the full 4 ohms from the head. The 10" matching extension cabs are discontinued now, Ashdown don't have any left. I found one on eBay a few months back it arrived and was 4 ohm. Lovely cab, but I don't have a suitable head for it. Am currently trying to sell it, no luck so far but will keep plugging away. Finally found that PMT online still have some 8 ohm cabs left, bit more expensive than everywhere else was selling them but I decided I really want one of these to match my combo, ok then, and bought one. Turns up, and it's 4 ohm, not the advertised 8 ohm. I took photos of the cab and the label attached, as well as screenshots of the order and the website to say I ordered an 8 ohm cab, not a 4 ohm one. Emailed PMT immediately and politely asked them to collect this cab and send the correct one. Said that I have no use for a 4 ohm cab, as it would put the head in my combo below the minimum impedance. Makes sense, right? Got a reply from some guy. Asking me what head I'm running, as if he's going to tell me what's ok to use with it, when I have already said that it's not compatible. I humour him anyway by letting him know what amp I'm using, and again, the cab is incompatible. Then in his next reply he tells me, despite the photos that I sent him and having seen the damn cab with my own eyes, that Ashdown never made a 4 ohm version of this cab. I assure him that they did and that I can prove it to him by forwarding an email from Lee at Ashdown saying that they made both. As if I hadn't sent enough proof already. Incredible. Then I get an email from another guy (supervisor perhaps, I don't know) apologising for the confusion and that he's going to check the stock with Ashdown of the 8 ohm version. I told him (helpfully I thought) that there was no need, I went to Ashdown directly first and they don't have any left. I also told him, again politely, that I didn't really appreciate the other guy arguing with me, to which I was told sorry that you felt he was arguing with you. What sort of apology is that? I didn't feel like he was arguing with me, he bloody was! The 8 ohm cab is still showing as in stock at five other PMT stores according to the website, but it doesn't sound like they have any. He has offered me a different cab of my choice at a discount, which I'll admit was nice of him, but that's not the same as actually getting the item I wanted in the first place. What a shower of **** from PMT online. I may slightly change my review if they do by some miracle manage to hook me up with an 8 ohm mi-10 cab, but I'm not going to hold my breath. Sorry to rant, but I feel better for it.
 12. Ngggggggg Lovely basses, not easy to find now either!
 13. Nice. I absolutely love mine, would have a second one if I could afford it

 16. Didn't think this would be around for long! Lovely bass.
 17. Thanks everyone!
Very cool. I really like the truss rod cover. As you said, it's the little details.
I got a surprise when I took the cover off as well (just being nosy, no adjustment needed yet!), there's a really cool little brass plate over the truss rod with a perfectly sized hole for the Allen key. I'll try and get a photo.
One thing about the neck dive when sitting down, do you play with the bass lower when you stand? The best bit of advice I ever heard was in a Billy Sheehan video from the 80's where he said that he set the strap length so that the bass was at the same height whether he sat or stood. I've done that ever since and leave the strap on whether I'm sitting or standing so you get the benefit of the strap stopping neck dive even while you're sitting.
I do have the strap set to about the same height when sitting, but I don't tend to use the strap when sitting. It's a good idea though, I'll try that. Thank you
Gorgeous! Personally I'd have kept the matching headstock, but that looks amazing (as I said personally). I imagine getting an already good bass modified to that degree and having an improved version of it back must if anything be better than getting an actual new bass. Congrats!
It is! Because I already knew I loved the bass, and now it's even better! I know what you mean about the matching headstock, initially I thought I'd like to keep it black. But I'm glad it's left natural now, I'm finding that I really prefer that. Makes it that much different looking from the Squier neck. Plus, I really wanted Jon's logo on it as well which was only possible if left natural.
That's a Black Beauty! I've a set of Dimarzio PJ's on one of my basses too and I really like the black pole-pieces! I think this one looks great and knowing Jon Shuker's work, It is guaranteed to be a super player! Really pleased for you! Congratulations!!!
Thanks Dan! And thanks also for chatting about it along the way, I really enjoyed that.
It looks great, Mel I have been very tempted by the short scale Squier Jaguars....it's now full blown GAS!!!
Ah sorry Andy ;-) you have to try one, they're wonderful. They've made playing much less painful for me now, even though I still get a lot, it's not as bad as it was.
 18. So, as I mentioned, it arrived back home today and it does not disappoint! Obviously it looks terrific. The attention to detail is incredible. And the feel of the neck is perfect, exactly what I was hoping for. Smooth satin finish, great playability, fretwork is flawless, the action is the lowest of any bass I ever had, just over 1mm at 12th fret with very little buzz unless I really dig in, which I don't very often. If I do, the E is quite buzzy - but with that string height and such light gauge rounds, that's totally to be expected. I may raise the E up very very slightly to compensate - which Jon said I probably would want to do. Tuners are lovely, but a bit weird after the stock ones, it's amazing how different tuners can feel - I'll get used to them. They are very nice, smooth tuning, seem to hold tuning well at the moment. It's hard to tell after such a short time. Nice meaty bridge, I like that a lot. And I'm loving the brass nut too. The only thing which is not 100% perfect - but in all fairness I didn't expect it to be completely solved, but one can dream - is the neck dive. It's not as bad as it was, but it's still quite noticeable. Oddly more when sitting down, has always been like that. I have to rest my arm on the body when playing. No biggy. Standing with a good leather strap it's not noticeable at all. It was so bad before that I honestly didn't expect it to be resolved completely. So, I'm absolutely thrilled. I played it for a solid couple of hours when I got home from work, couldn't put it down because I was enjoying it so much, it plays terrific and sounds even better - but my usual warning signal of sharp pains in my palm forced me to stop for now. Here are some pics I took. Terrible camera, lighting and non-existent photography skills, but you get the idea. I've also done an extremely short and basic sound clip, but I'm too embarrassed to post it - my hands aren't too good today, and a bit spasmy, so I've missed notes and off the beat and all sorts. 20. Hello everyone I think my issues with my hands has been quite well documented by now, and I've really struggled to find the bass that's the most comfortable for me, and sounds great too. Well - I finally found it about three years ago when I wandered into a guitar shop and found this little Squier jaguar short scale bass for less than £200 - grabbed it straightaway and have been playing it ever since. I replaced the pickups within a few weeks to Dimarzio model P & J's but have never been 100% happy with it for a couple of reasons: It didn't come factory shielded (!) so it hummed like mad It was very neck heavy The bridge had a bit of a rattle that I've never been able to solve The tuning wasn't very stable, partly due to the tuners but also something else, see below The E string was always very slightly deader than the rest of the strings The frets weren't terribly level from the factory And finally, and most importantly, I couldn't go a week without adjusting the truss rod as the neck was always on the move, and the rod was getting stiff and creaky. Following suggestions and advice from a couple of fellow basschatters, Jon Shuker has made me a replacement neck and done a few mods at the same time. I've been familiar with (dr00ling over) his work for a few years, and finally the need and opportunity came up, along with being told that he does this kind of thing as well as full custom builds, which I didn't know about before! So here's the spec. Keeping 30" ish scale Matching the nut and heel width and neck profile 9.5" radius 20 stainless steel frets Carbon graphite support rods Maple neck 20.5mm deep at first fret, 22.5mm at 12th Satin laquer Rosewood board 6mm face dots 2mm side dots Dual action truss rod Brass nut Schallers BM Lite tuners Gotoh 201 bridge Proper shielding and wiring job (I can't solder, so um, the wires were held together with electrical tape) Keeping the dimarzio pickups in there I have a couple of in progress photos, and I got the bass back today so will post my thoughts and some photos as well
 21. R.I.P. Lemmy. Totally gutted.
 22.
Some speakon sockets have 1/4 jack sockets in the middle of them
According to t'interwebs the old version of this head had a combo jack but this version doesn't. Would have been handy
 23.
Should be fine as long as you're using a speaker lead rather than a instrument lead....!
Thanks definitely a speaker lead! One of my old faithfuls
