1.
Hiya Eude, Is it the same as the one you can download from the Trace Elliot site? If so, thanks for thinking of me but I've already downloaded it. If not, yes please!
I, it's the very same I'm afraid dude. You're welcome to it if you want though, it won't cost anything, I'll get work to post it Cheers, Eude
  2.
How are you finding the lower output power levels of the LM 250? Can it keep up with a full band?
Hey there, I've not managed to try it out with the band yet. I intend to use it at my next rehearsal. I usually play through an Ampeg BR1-E and an Ampeg 4X10 when we practice, so it will be an interesting A-B. The output of the amps are similar, 150W at 4 ohms for the Little Mark 250 and 175W at 4 ohms for the Ampeg. The Aguilar cabinet is highly sensitive though, 102db compared to 95db in the Ampeg cab, and Mark Bass stuff has a rep for being a bit more ballsy than the rated wattage, so I don't think it'll struggle to keep up in that setting. I will be using it live, but our next proper gig isn't till the 22nd of Nov, as we're recording and album at the moment. When on a big stage, I always go into the PA anyway though and use my amp as a monitor, but I'm sure it'd be fine for pub gigs, maybe putting it up on an amp stand might help too. I'm sure with the two cabs and rocking out the full 250W it'd be fine for most live settings. I'll give you more info once I get it. Cheers, Eude
  3.
Hi Eude, glad your new rig is floating your boat-I'm still very happy with the Trace! Got its first gig on the 30th!
Hey bud, Yeah the new rig is great, glad you're enjoying the Trace, it's a beast of an amp! I was going to give you a shout, I found the old manual that came with it, you want me to post it down to you, it's in perfect nic too. Cheers, Eude
  4.
Hey Eude, nice little rig, need something smaller and lighter myself...if you dont mind me asking, how much did this set you back...did you get a good deal???cheers Craig
Hey Craig, Cheers dude, I'm real chuffed with it. The whole lot came in at £600 plus postage. Mike at the Bass Merchant was great to deal with and matched the best prices I'd found. If I'd had another £400 I could've got the deal Bass Merchant where offering of a Little Mark (the 400W) one, and two GS112s for £999, but I couldn't stretch any further. I plan on getting hold of another matching cab as soon as I can though, to get the maximum wattage out of the head. Any other questions just shoot dude, Eude
  5. That's one awesome bass Dave! Congratulations! More splendid work by Alan... Eude
  6. First impressions - brilliant! Incredibly clear, transparent and balanced across the entire range of my six string Shuker. Nailed my sound already, with the VPF at 12 o'clock with a little low mid dialed back in and a slight cut in the highs, coaxes a real nice growly sound with a bite of precussive bite, great for digging in and a wee bit of slap. Not had the volume much past a peep, as my neighbours would probably be at the door and less than chuffed. The Little Mark head is tiny, and so light! The Aguilar Cab is quite a bit deeper than I expected, spose that's how they get better lows out of it. It still fits nicely the boot of my Seat Ibiza though, I could get two in there no bother, which is part of my plan once I save up a little bit more cash... The cab is also pretty light, I've heard a few folks complain that they're pretty heavy for a one hand lift, but I've not had any difficulty, probably because I'm used to lifting my, now ex, Trace Combo by my self all the time. I'll sort out pics ASAP and sort out a better review once I've used it in anger. Cheers, Eude
  7. Well that's the rig finally here! I'll get it hooked up tonight and probably use it for a loud rehearsal next week. Pics to follow too... Cheers, Eude
  8. Congrats dude! Always loved Wal basses, and that one's a real peach. Enjoy it, Eude
  9.
Ah yes ... I know all about that problem. I'm thinking (well fantasising) about a matching fretless. Mmmmm.
Me too! I want, in fact, need a 6 string fretless and a shortscale 4 string! GAS is a truly horrible thing isn't it... Looking forward to seeing how Jon reworks the standard shape for the 21 frets, it's gonna be a sweet bass regardless! Cheers, Eude
  10.
..a Tech Soundsystems ND412 or ND410 in the UK? Where is the best place to get one from price wise?
I think the Bass Merchant stocks that kit, click here >> Website I think they'll be the cheapest possible in the UK, however getting stuff from Germany might prove cheaper. Still ain't all that cheap though >> Soundland.de Good luck, Eude
  11. Nice one Si, you kept quiet about this one! Really cool specs. What body style are you gonna go for then? Fancy joining is Single Cut Perverts? For your purdy wood top, if I was you, I'd maybe go for a dark figured wood to contrast with the maple board, maybe a nice bit of cocobolo... Something like this? Reckon that's looks the mutz! Cheers, Eude
  12.

I still can't get over how gorgeous this bass is! You're one lucky guy Sugs, if only my Guinness related expenses wheren't so high, I'd be well on the way to getting a bass off Alan. Can't wait to hear your impressions once you get your hands on it. Cheers, Eude

    Deep Thought

Just sold my Trace Combo to Deep Thought. Can't recommend him enough, great communication, super fast payment, a sound lad all round. Cheers, Eude
  14.
He was doing a deal a couple of months ago of like two GS112's and a mark bass little mark (250 or 450 i can't remember) for £999 I assume those just went straight out the door! lol Nice rig, will sound awesome i reckon! Si
Hey Si, yeah that deal pretty much flew out the door, was a little out of my price range though anyway... Still, my wee Junior version should sound great too. I hate waiting for stuff! Cheers, Eude
  15. Hi guys, just wanted to post to let you all know that, having sold my Trace Elliot, I've pulled the trigger on a "mini bass rig of doom"! I gave Mike at Bass Merchant a shout to have a chat about what I needed and he was real helpful. I needed something loud enough for smallish pub gigs, not too loud as my band is more acoustic driven than anything, that I can plug in to the PA, expand on if and when I need to and more importantly be able to carry all by myself without breaking my back. I've ordered a Mark Bass Little Mark 250 >> & an Aguilar GS112 >> I'm real excited about it, I have a gig on the 8th, fingers crossed I'll get hold of this before then! I'll post pics and a wee review once I get my grubby paws on the new kit. Cheers, Eude
  16.
Hey, Eude, now that Niks is gone, I hope its ok to mention that I'll have a natural one up for grabs in the not too distant future, I bought it as a back-up while Alan made my ACG recurve and now its a back-up while he makes my J type! Its hardly been out of the box. It was up for grabs on here before I ordered the J but didn't sell http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=1086. It'll be surplus to requirements when the J is finished. I'll be going to Moffat to collect it if your mate is interested at that time. I believe you know the way to Moffat Sorry for the hijack, nik Cheers Andy
Sweet dude, give me a heads up when it's back on the market and I'll see what I can do. Cheers, Eude
  17. That's good news mate. My pal who would've been interested is too skint this month. Cheers, Eude
  18.
Been thinking about this... As an Ebay listing will cost me in fees and potential PayPal fees, I'm prepared to let this go to any Basschat members for £180 + p&p. So, if anyone wants a great 5 string for £180, let me know. Thanks Nik
Hey man, long shot here, but I've given a bass playing mate of mine a heads up on this. He's not a member here, but mentioned he was thinking about getting an active 5 string, "probably a Yamaha", he's not nearly as geeky about kit as I am. Anyway, I've sent him an e-mail, so I'll let you know if he's interested. Cheers, Eude
  19. SOLD! Thanks to all those who showed interest. Eude
  20. As Tinman says, Jon Shuker will pretty much build whatever you ask him too, at a pretty reasonable price. Alan at AGC is definitely worth approaching too, I've visited him a couple of times, his work is amazing and he's a really friendly guy, and as with Shukers you get a lot more bang for your buck compared to some other luthiers. Can't comment on anyone else though. I'll be keen to see how your design develops though dude, it's a cool bass, I remember seeing it on a forum a long time ago and it's stuck in head. Cheers, Eude
  21.
Educate me: why is an HZ not a real EMG? 'Cos they're passive? Or 'cos they're not actually made in the EMG factory but somewhere else?
I believe the HZ pickups where originally built as OEM models for the likes of ESP, Schecter etc., but EMG have since launched them as after market pickups. I don't think there's going to be a huge difference in quality, however they are passive as you mentioned and as a result come in at a lower price point. I've seen them used on some pretty expensive basses, including a couple of £1400 Shukers, so I don't think they're going to be that crap, they're probably just provide a passive alternative to the active EMGs. That's my 2p anyway... Cheers, Eude
  22. SOLD PENDING PAYMENT!
  23. Pre-weekend Bump
  24. Up for grabs again!
  25.
Being a luthier myself, I have bought bits and pieces from him. He has also seen pics of my recent jazz style build (ZappBass for our very own BWer, Zzzapp) and he liked what he saw. Apart from getting comments from users, I guess he wants constructive comments from a builder. I wasn't gonna pass up his offer. I'm keen to see how the 33" scale performs on a 5-string - especially if the action is set low. Can't wait! I'm only having it for a week, so better make sure I have some gigs that week!
My Shuker 6er is a 33" and the low B is fine, you'll also notice a sweetness to the higher strings too. Looking forward to hear how you get on with the bass, the WoodandTronics guys make some gorgeous instrument, I especially like the Koa topped 6 string they made recently! Cheers, Eude
