To be honest, I don't think this does anything bar making it easier to use a LONG scale string on their 33" scale basses. If the bass is designed, built and set up properly, which you hope it would be for Fodera money, anything beyond the nut is pointless. I do kinda dig how it looks though, but I appreciate it's a little funky looking

Well executed break angles on a bass at the bridge and nut render the length of the string beyond the speaking length, i.e. beyond the nut and the bridge saddle, irrelevant, and is a big part of getting this stuff right on any scale length. It works so well on your Leduc as it's a really well designed and well built bass

Very good point. I get custom wound Newtone Nickels, using slightly thicker than usual hex cores which is intended to help a 100 E feel more like a 105 on the same scale length. I have tried regular long scales on my basses too, and the only real complaint would be too much string on the tuning post.

I play 31.5" basses exclusively, all ACGs. All my current basses have a low B (although I have a 4 on the way) and they are absolutely brilliant. As @bassist_lewis mentioned above, there are a lot of other factors that determine how good a low B sounds and feels, so if a luthier has figured out the secret sauce, it's possible to create a very musical low B on a shorter scale bass. Neck rigidity, how well the neck meets the body, break angles over the nut and bridge, string choice, all play a very big part, and I would argue, if you can get those right, the scale length has less of an impact. And, I actually went for lighter strings when I went shorter, which to my ear can counteract some of the more bassiness you can get when you go shorter. I used to play 34" basses, had a spell on 36", and then discovered 33" scale which I played for about 10 years I think. From there I moved to 31.5" and I am very happy where I am now. Anyone out there who thinks it can't work, I suggest you try it, you might like it Eude

Any idea what make this fretless bass is?

Very cool. Part of me hoped it might've been th now fabled SEQ and that you'd want to swap that out for something else... Been trying to get my hands on one for a while! -

If you go for the right bridge you'll easily have 5mm adjustment each way, like the Hipshot Type A.
-
Now worries at all dude. I reckon 17mm is the sweet spot. If/when I order another 6, I'm going 17mm, my current crop are all 16.5mm but a hair wider might help with sloppy chops 😉 Make sure and share info when you pull the trigger dude!
-
Yup, definitely 18mm as I thought. You thinking about commissioning a new 6er?
-
I think most earlier 6 string ACGs would've been 18mm as standard. I will check with the boss

Lovely bass matey, congratulations!

Ah, fair enough dude. I've got two of them, I'm suffering from that "Grass is always greener" syndrome I think! -

Hey Stew, nice set up! Have you been able to comapre the Trace 1x10s with Barefaced One10s? -
That's a bit of a peach @AndyTravis Hope you have a lot of fun with it! A girl I met in first year of Uni, over from Oregon on an exchange reached out to me a year or so back about a similar bass. She'd had a long long term waster of a boyfriend who she'd managed to get rid of, eventually, and he'd left a bass behind which she'd forgotten about and he claimed at the time he didn't want it back. It had been years, so she asked me what it could be worth. It was exactly the same as your new acquisition and in mint condition. She sold it for a pretty penny. Anyway, nice aside. Enjoy the bass!

The Waza Craft flavour on might get you a littl closer...

I haven't I'm afraid, but I have tried a few pre Gnome Warwick amps and always felt they offered more than they were ever given credit for. Honest solid bits of kit.
-
What about the Warwick Gnome iPro 600? By all accounts it's fairly flat response, 600w and can be found for about £350. I don't think it's any bigger than a MarkBass LittleMark too, likely a bit smaller.

Lovely set up(s). That Peavey head! I used to have a Mark VI with two Black Widow loaded 4x10s. That could knock down walls, so so loud and ballsy. Miss the sound, but my back is very happy with the advent of class D amps and Neo cabs...

I can't quite get enough of this headstock. So very very cool. Love the way the fingerboard overruns the 1st fret and acts as a string guide, and the knobs are just mad! Lovely stuff dude.
