1.
... but I don't know where does he get the wood (body, neck...). Reminds me a lot as Sadowksy (as stated before Nino Valenti worked for Sadowsky) bump for a great jazz.
use google to search talkbass and you can find that out... all high end stuff
2.
Hi Luke, long time no here, hope you and yours are well? Thanks, it's a great amp, very cool, and less than half the price of a '59 reissue. I thought it was priced to sell, but clearly not!
we are Think it's a good price - maybe this link would be useful for buyers https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=A93b2V7ymf8
3. IM just glad that eBay monstrosity got a good home. Looks great! T40 are great - loved playing mine when I had it
4. These sound great and that's at a great price rick!
5. Here's a true story for you: I finished work at midday last Wednesday and drove home to get ready for a holiday (where I am currently) on the way home 6music played this odd song- the text on the screen told me it was that mustang sally song that keeps being meantioned on basschat and talkbass. So I finally heard it! Now I'm in my early thirties but figure that A) the average age on basschat is way older younger folk either don't play bass no more or hang out other places than here , cos otherwise I would keep hearing about lots of odd new music people are playing rather than random rock numbers that passed me by But 2017 I know what song mustang sally is
6. On the headstock: the first sketches I saw of this I was getting the vibes of the many basses that influenced it, steinberger, the Greek's ACG harlot, Ritter, and a few others. Having been on basschat long enough to see a few of the basses he's bought and sold it's quite cool to see all the best bits of the basses he's raved about over the years come into one instrument. I think the headstock fits the design, and for a one off bass it makes way more sense to go for the headstock that fits the body best over worrying toomuch about slight similarities to other builders
7. I had similar sound issues with my SS1 - sounded like a machine gun rather than a bass. Bartolini pickups and a ACG pre got the sound where I wanted it. TBH it's more the pickups than the pre
8. cheers for this norris!
9. Router based advice needed So cut the body out with a band saw or similar, then tidy up the edge with a router around a template seems to be the done thing? So got questions about trimming the edge of the body with the router... I've a collar guide for my router, so I could make a template Xmm offset from the edge and use that.... but on the net I see lots of people use the router bits with the top brushings on them for this... which is better method? How long a bit do I want? I'm using a hand held router that has a 1/4 inch collet. and... do you cut the neck pocket first, then the body shape? or the body shape then the neck pocket? Thanks!
10.
I think the principle is exactly right. A used SS1 should be a better bass than a "souped up" Rockbass Streamer NT 5, and I'd be happy to find the £extra to stretch to get one. But I am a bit pessimistic that there are SS1s with 5 strings (rather than 4 which seem to be a lot more common?) in good condition and in a finish that I'm going to really like, sitting around in homes where they are no longer wanted...but let's see. This is, I suspect, the largest bass market place in the UK (indeed possibly outside the USA) so if a fellow BC doesn't have one or know someone who does, then I think plan B of a souped up RB Streamer NT 5 won't be a bad one. Until Grangur brings his basses around again that is...
it's also a marketplace where no one seems to want to buy warwicks! Haven't for years. Try eBay, and eBay.de - I got my '85 thumb bass from Germany within your price range a few years back.
11. It's like if Ned steinberger took acid
12. I think for that money,or just a wee bit more, you will find a good earlier SS1
13. Top knotch basses. Need to visit and try some of their newer basses
14. Still wondering about my vitriol coming back....
15.
just in time for me to be out of action building-wise for half a week
plan the next build then! I figure you're builds go at least 3 times the speed of mine... and these inspire me, so you'll need at least another one following
16. Oooh good price on this
17. 25k is for active pups, 250k for passive
18.
Are there any big differences between the first and second generation models?
the first set had powersoft digimod power amps, the second generation had B&O ice power poweramps - quite different sounding. I think the Thomas who started tech soundsystems then tecamp got screwed over by someone hence the relaunch of Eich amplification. Purely on principle if I were shopping now I would go Eich over Tecamp... I used to have a puma 1000 (powersoft version) and a M210, amp was good but next owner had the switch break on him. The cab was awful engineering and best avoided
19. Or not... one MMC and one MM5CBC (RC) which from what we can work out is a 5 string pup in a 4 string case.... and classic rather than original series. Interesting
20. Slot pole piece G&L L1000 (I love mine) - though they might not be slot by '82? Dunno One of Leo Fender's best guitars.
21. so the 1 pup or 2 pup dilemma has been solved... convince d my friend to sell me another bartolini MMC
22.
My advice? Save up and get it done properly. End of. It's too special to warrant a trip down to Halfords.
this
23.
Bear in mind there's a 24% buyer's premium to add to the final hammer price. But even so, yes, some of those estimates are very (deliberately?) low.
apart from the status groove which won't make that
