1. I’m offering up my Mayones Jabba 5 Custom for sale or trade. It comes with a Warwick hard case. Bought in late 2016 from Bass Gallery - I believe it was about about 6 months old at that point. I used it for about 4 or 5 gigs and it has pretty much hung on my wall since then, as I don’t really get on with 5-strings. There are a couple of dings on headstock. Other than that excellent condition and working order. Will get it properly serviced before completing sale. It comes with Schaller strap locks. Would prefer pickup. For trade I'd be open to similar value Jazz/PJ style 4-string bass
2. As stated Warwick Rockbass Alien fretless 4 in lovely gloss black finish (much nicer than the natural finish) Looking for £425 but will consider offers, and trade on a double bass. A lot of bass for the money. And my favourite of the cheaper acoustics on the market. About 4 years old (bought new from Wunjo guitars on Denmark Street). Not gigged but played regularly in smoke-free, pet free (but sadly not child-free) home. In excellent almost blemish-free condition. Had complete overhaul about 6 months ago. Had strap points fitted. Fishmann electrics in good working order. Comes with soft case only. Just built an electric fretless so don't really play anymore so looking to sell this to either fund more builds or to buy a double bass - hence would also consider some sort of trade if anyone is looking to move on a DB (no EUBs, already have one). If anyone is interested or has any questions give me a shout. Thanks Pete
3. So after having bought a stagg EUB a while back and having had a few technique lessons I'm going to take the plunge and buy a DB - the EUB just doesn't balance or feel right to me anymore. So as this is a totally new area to me I need some advice; I don't want a rubbish starter bass but I probably only around £700-800 to spend (need to sell a couple of other basses first). Can someone recommend some brands I should be looking at and where best to find one. Thanks Pete
4.
some more info would be useful
Point taken... first time I've sold anything on here!
5. I have a mint condition Epiphone Jack Cassidy in limited edition Alpine White up for grabs (including hard case). Has just had a full overhaul and set up so in tip top condition! I'm a little loathed to get rid of it, but I need the cash for a new build I'm making - so cash only offers accepted. After £520 but will consider REASONABLE offers. ADDED INFO: I haven't included postage in this cost - happy to post and will negotiate the cost of that with the buyer depending on their preferred method. Equally happy for this to be picked up in person… I'm based in West London (W7). Just putting on here to see if there's any interest, before bunging it up on eBay. 6.
I'm no expert, but the Warwick parts bin seems to have a variety of 8 string bridges https://shop.warwick...01452001230A138 (not cheap, mind)
Ouch... well pricey!
7. Thanks for the input guys, short of buying a cheap guitar and nicking the bridge I'll settle for the Schaller then... just wanted to see what the option are. Also as it sounds like you two know your "onions", this may sound like a totally dumb question, but as this is only my second build I'm hoping I can be excused dumb questions: pickup wise, do I need special pickups or can I just use standard 4-string versions? And finally...
Why do you want to have different stringing for the strings in each course?
Because I can and it sounded like fun Honestly no other reason just interested in fiddling with stuff like that but sounds like without drilling holes in the Schaller it won't be possible. I've put a Babicz string-through bridge on my current build (4-string fretless).
8. Just about to embark on my second ever build and I need bit of advice. I'm creating a semi-hollow 8-string (octave pairs) and am looking for bridges. There doesn't seem to be a lot on the market apart from a Schaller one. Does anyone have any suggestions? What I'd really like to do is ave the bass strings string-thru and the high strings conventional. That may of course be impossible without having something custom built, which I'm guessing is going to be hideously expensive! Any suggestions very welcome! Thanks Pete
9. Been a bit busy of late... Thanks for the suggestions above.
10.
First quote is possibly one of the most contentious issues in the bass playing world (along with is Adam Clayton a good bass player), so stand by for fireworks!!
Haha that's probably true... Yeah the "smoother" was indeed an autospell typo! And thanks … I'll take a look at the Nordstrand p/ups now!
11. ... actually not quite as dramatic as it sounds, I've actually found a guitar builder local to me who runs one-to-one workshops where you build the guitar together. Learning the art of being a luthier as you go! I'm going for a four-string fretless. So, I've negotiated the woods conversation (I'm going for ebony fretboard, walnut body, maple kneck, pear for line markers), but I'm now onto pickups. I know this is really subjective and all about personal taste, but I'm looking for some suggestions around pickups that will give me good rich sound with a little bit of growl. (Was thinking of trying to reverse engineer the electronic on my Wal, but apparently that's out of the question ) So, have been recommended to look at Delano Oil City Nordstrand I like the sound of the Delano Hybrids, but I'd be really interested to get some other people's thoughts or recommendations.
12. sound advice guys... I guess cutting corners is never a good thing! I will start saving my pennies.
13. want to pair my 102p with another cab, but can't stretch to mark Bass prices... Any suggestions. Was thinking of the TC Electronic BC 212.
