1. This thread is not helping my GAS at all. I need a new cab and cant afford that. Now I am itching to drop a pair of these in my Jazz! Between Basschat and talkbass I am sure I am gonna end up bust by the end of the year!
2. Will definitely forget some here: Thin Lizzy: Whiskey in the Jar The Who: The Seeker Free: Alright Now (I know but people like it) Red Hot Chilis: Under the Bridge Billy Idol: Rebel Yell Kasabian: Club Foot Eagles: Hotel California GnR: Sweet Child of Mine Lynard Skynard: Sweet Home Police: Cant stand losing you Beatles: Daytripper Stones: Honkey Tonk Woman (Most boring one for me in the set) Lemonheads: Mrs Robinson Obligatory Mustang Sally Clapton: Layla Foo Fighters: Monkey Wrench Kings of Leon: California Waiting Blondie: One way or another REM: Whats the frequency Kenneth Zeppelin: Communication Breakdown Sabbath: Paranoid Primal Scream: Rocks Man thats bad. Thats not even half our possible set list and I cant remember any more
3.
hah... this'll confuse you... the sheet music I've got is notated in F There's a five bar guitar cue and then the first bar of Bass has Dm and Bb for the two chords The actual verse has the following chords: | C#m | G#m | C#m, C, D | E | F#m, B | E, A | F#m, B | E, A | the transcription has been done from the "Layla and other assorted love songs" version. The book it's in is "Great Rock For Bass Guitar" by Wise Publications
Well heres me showing my lack of theory! It sounds closer playing along in D instead of D#m. But that was the chord I was looking for. Dm to a Bb or D to an F. Both sounded fine from one recording to the other. We are going with D as thats what the Guitard learned too
4. Doesnt seem to work in Dmin for me. I dont have a copy of the one from Derek and the Dominoes though so that one may be in Dmin.
5. We decided to learn Layla and I have been learning the Clapton Version. Is the Derek and the Dominoes version in D or D#? I cant seem to get a copy of it but one tab I found is in D and I know how half the time, if not more, tabs are wrong. The Unplugged version is in D and the original Clapton one I have (with the big instrumental at the end) is in D#. It wont be hard to transpose it down a single fret but I always like to just turn up and knock it out first time
6.
And now the same recording but this time JUST THE BASS..!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfDE-ZvfOwU...ted&search= (Note: nothing happens until 00:53 or so... then all hell breaks loose..!) I like some of the comments from the muppets who are convinced that's a Warwick bass...
Check Post #4 way ahead of ye lol
7.
I think you lot should give that a bash 2moro night Bob can just picture it the now
The Newbridge is full of jakeys anyway they wouldnae care! Not gonna happen though
8.
Agreed. As I said earlier, dont start me off on The Who. I could be here some time. If anyone doubts there prowess even in the later years, check out the Concert For New York on YouTube. I hate to use youth lingo, but they "pwnd" that show. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v2sWjouB1YA
I watched that. No-one even came close to the Who that night.
9.
Perhaps we are thinking of different Bohemian Rhapsodies?
Well I meant none of the above that I had mentioned I agree with Bohemian Rhapsodie being pretty dang un-coverable!
10. I should probably go and hide then We do Mustang sally (the girls love it and someone ALWAYS asks for it), Teenage kicks and under the bridge. We also do Sweet Home Alabama! Give the drunken public what they want is my view. I think a few on this list are songs band members dont want to do. Not what bands are incapable of doing justice. None of the above are difficult to reproduce.
11.
Oh I'm not saying everyone should like it. It's also contextual. Modern yoof has so many bands to watch and emulate and learn from. The Who were a giant leap for mankind and that is simetimes forgotten.
You Edited that and missed simetimes?!
12. I play in a band. We dont get as many gigs as I would like but that cant be helped. It certainly doesnt make me any more of a musician than anyone else here. To be honest I dont rate myself that highly on Bass as it is, The OP is probably technically better than I am so how does playing in a band make me any better than him?! I will admit that I got a whole lot better once I started playing gigs but that doesnt change anything other than confidence in my own ability.
13. Its for hiding a tiny amount of drugs in. Use it wisely
14.
Just watch this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b3mi-bKtDGA I didn't realise John had those custom spiders web explorer things whilst Keith was still around ...
This is a better version http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IfDE-ZvfOwU I think the overall sound is much better. John stands out in the mix like he should lol Oh if you like that get 'The Kids are Alright' DVD. Most watched DVD in my collection.
15. I didnt fit it but my Westone has an XLR. Definitely aftermarket but it was on it when I bought it. I am just dreading the cable spazzing out at a gig or something.
16. Well I need to sell this if I am ever gonna buy that 210 cab I want. So it is now up on Ebay
17. Yeah, shame and all but still had to laugh!
18. I have the same Behringer tuner. To be honest its kinda sucky. Doesnt react well to my E string at all, so I end up tuning to a on the 5th fret. As a backup it would be fine I guess just dont expect too much
19.
what's the serial? The first and fifth digits are the year and the 3 in between are the day in the year it was made.
I am sure its early 00's. He is away to work in Montrose for 4 days now so wont be able to get a look at it till then. I think he might have found a buyer anyway. If anyone is interested let me know and I will see what the other offer is.
20. Congrats mate. Sorry I couldnt help out by taking that 2x10 off yer hands Glad to see you managed to cover the cost anyway man!
21. My biggest problem is not bringing a back up bass. I have never needed it but I would rather have it and not need it than need it and not have it! We just dont have room for all the gear and 2 basses in the 3 cars we travel to gigs in. I will regret it one day though. I have only broken one string in 10 years of playing but I dont play any metal. That might help to break them, jumping about and all haha!
22. Selling for a mate as the epray fees were astronomical! Cracking Guitar in mint condition. Selling so he can pay the tax man! Comes with original fitted hardshell case. £750 or very near offer. Cant tell you the year as he does not know and would prefer local pick up as he would rather not post it.
23. Just back from the post office and it will cost £20 to post. Next day delivery, the other option didnt require a signature at the other end and I was not happy with that. Oh and BUMP
24.
pm'd
Replied
