In an ideal world I would go for the matamp easily. The cost of the thing is a lot though as you say. Fair enough Oranges aren't cheap, but second hand ones are more plentiful than second hand matamps. Also, that ampeg v4b in the for sale section is looking pretty sexy

Nath, it is both filthy and beautiful and the same time! We will defo have to have a session with it through the Sunn, haven't had the chance to rock it hard yet and I;ve almost had it a year! evillordjuju - I guess you're Jules off the gibsonbass site. Can't do clips sorry. It gets a nice round twangy (but not over trebley) sound with the back 2 pups on, and gives a nice solid chugging tone with all 3. Hard to describe really, I usually keep all 3 on. It's also very resonant. Maybe that has something to do with the finish or the age of it, but it's the 'loudest' unplugged bass I've had. Love it! Tim, the orange isn't bad at all. I use it just for messing around in the bedroom. I've got the 20watt version, tried the 35 in the shop and didnt think the larger speaker and line out were worth the extra cost. For bedroom work, the 20watter is spot on, and pretty loud actually. Picked mine up for about £80 new at promenade music in morecambe.

MMnn promenade is just down the road from me. I might check it out at the weekend and see if anything's in yet. I kinda doubt it though. They usually have some orange guitar gear in though

How much do these things go for second hand? I've seen one on here for £850 a month or two ago, but seem to remember one going for £550 ish last year on ebay. Maybe I dreamt that. First payment into the fund goes in at the end of the month!

After gazing at Orange amps for many a year, I've decided to put my finances into action (albeit slowly) and save up for an orange ad200b. I'm still a young 'un at 23 so my back should be able to cope. Looking at between £100 and £200 a month so I'll be looking for a used one in 4-5 months time! Let the daydreaming end and let the major GASing begin! For all Orange owners...post pics or say something nice to me or something!

I found these jazz parts from a cs 64 in the town where I work, but does anyone else think they seem slightly expensive? I'm kinda tempted cos they'd be nice for a project I have in mind, but £200 for pups, control plate and a pickguard seems a lot. flip, he did indeed use schecter pickups. He still uses that bass now... If you lost interest after Matt left, check out 'The Rentals', his other band. Their debut is very Weezer-esque
