1. When I had a DHA VT-1 EQ Drive thingy, I also tried the Muff'n at a music shop, and it seemed to lack a lot of the power and overall tone that the DHA had. Hard to explain, but I knew straight away when I turned the Muff'n on, the DHA was a lot better. Just my two penneth.
2. It wasn't cheap when I got it, came from Canada and cost me about £150 in total with customs and everything. I've been watching them go on eBay lately, and they're reaching £80-120. Sign of the times maybe? I'm glad I've got it though...sounds like a bitch
3. I could make a joke about a nice, clean muff, but I won't.
4. Looking for an overdrive to finish this off...maybe a Pork Loin? Got the NYC custom size a week or two ago, great little essentials board...
5. Hi all, does anyone have any experience of the faux fender bass tweed cases? There's a few for £45-55 on ebay and they seem ok, but I'd rather know if they were a bit shoddy before shelling out for one. Thanks folks
6. Sold Myke some Schaller tuners. No problem at all...thanks very much!
7. That looks good fun! I only live 25 mins from Peter, I would have popped up....for the pie
8. ok, these need to go now. £30 posted? I'm away the weekend so I'll pick up PM's on Monday. Also got a perfect nick Geddy white pickguard. Tenner posted?
9. I used to have a 410E, which I think was a pre-cursor to the 410HE. It struggled a bit at gig volumes so I sold it on. It was being powered by a Peavey T-max. I do believe the 410E's were only rated at 250-300watts, whereas the 410HE can handle a bit more. Let us know how you find it, if you pick one up. I'd be interested to see how it handles a bit of volume.
10. Interesting...in the short video on the site it says '350 watts'...surely not all valve? They look sexy though, a 2x10 combo and a 15 cab underneath would make a great retro rig.
11. Any folks here use Avatar cabs? I see theres a dealer in the netherlands, but can't find any info about shipping over here. The 4x10 neo looks lovely with the different colours
12. Adding a 15' or any other 8ohm cab will usually result in more volume and a more powerful sound. It depends if you're happy with the current sound? Maybe look into effects pedals...be warned though, once you start, you don't stop
13. Might be a bit too far, but Promenade music in Morecambe had a 700 in last time I was there. They're very friendly so will have no problem with you a/bing things probably.
14. Very sexy. I live in Lancaster too. Unfortuantely I finished building a Jazz 2 days ago. Good luck with the sale brother.
15.
I love tele headstocks and LPB so this is quite a treat. I don't know much of Weezer's work, but this bass looks sweet!
Dan, Matt Sharp only played on the bands first 2 albums, which are IMO the best pieces of music ever made. But then, I would say that
16.
I spotted the Orange with the Matt photo too. Isnt that and early AD200b? He still uses that with his latest bands....I think he lends it to is current bassist.
Ahh sorry bro, Matts amp is late 60's/early 70's Orange Matamp. 200watts of old Matamp power. I've seen 2 for sale, and they're not cheap. The last one I saw belonged to Jimmy Page and sold for $30,000. And yeh, it's still used when he plays with the Rentals.
17. I'm afraid the Orange is just a Crush 20. Well, I say 'just', it's a great little practice amp that can get pretty loud when cranked and has great tonezz. Thanks Musicman and steve
18. Thanks brother. If they turn up, I'll try them out and keep whatever sounds best then sell the other set.
19. I need to sit down and work it all out, but looking at £6-700. That's including the £92 for pickups that never showed up
20. I'm sure they will, Peter!
21. Excellent review...I don't think my bank will appreciate it though
22. So being a big fan of the mighty Weezer, I decided to build a signature bass of their first bassist, Matt Sharp. I decided on making his backup bass (his main bass was a heavily distressed 60's Jazz body, which is neither easy to find, or cheap). His backup was a Mexican Fender Jazz blue body, Schecter Monstertone pickups and a Warmoth tele bass neck. It looked like this.... So when Fender started making Lake Placid Blue bodies again last year, I thought now is a better time than any to have a go. I searched high and low for the Monstertone pickups. Found some in Sweden, but the guy never replied to me, then by chance, found some over in the states and paid for them. 9 weeks has passed since that, and they still haven't shown up (thanks USPS). The body and miscellaneous stuff (pickguard, control plate etc) came from a guy on Ebay, and the Warmoth neck followed soon after. I gave up on the Monstertones and ordered some Wizard 84's. Put on a Gotoh 201 bridge and some Hipshot HB2's and she was ready to roll. Here's a fair few pics of the build and the final piece! Oh, and it sounds bitchin!
