1. Hi folks, I got this recently with a view to do another Jazz project, but things have got in the way and I figured someone else could have a bash at it, instead of it collecting dust here. I was told this is an SX bass body, which a bit of googling suggests would make it alder. It's got a nice weight at about 4.5 pounds so would make a nice lightweight bass once it's done. The previous owner had attempted to refinish it and has filled all the holes in it. I mean every one. Pickguard, bridge, strap buttons all filled in. It isn't the best job, but easy work for someone who fancies a project or has already done stuff like this. There's some primer on the back and some daphne blue nitro still all around the edges and a bit on the back. Neck pocket is also painted. The remaining paintwork isn't great either, but as I said, probably ewasy work for someone who knows what they're doing. I paid £27 delivered so looking to get that back if possible. Thanks for looking, any questions please ask and I'll try my best to answer. Here's a few pictures... One with a pickguard and plate on...
2. Always worth mentioning.... If you're going to get the Orange brand new, take a look at the Matamp GT200. Similar price, customisable, some say it sounds better, you work with a small group of people so better 'customer service'. Second hand Oranges go for £700-800 usually. Either way, you're onto a winner.
3. They're super duper. I never found mine to be too heavy, it's reasonably compact compared to other wider valve amps I've had, plus the tone is worth it. Do it!
4. That sucks, a small consolation is that G3's aren't that common so might be quite easily recognisable. I'm in the North West so I'll keep a look out. Sad news.
5. emanew: i've seen that bass before, that's what made me think that capri orange might be a sexy choice, haha. The pearloid pickguard really sets it off. I know maple necks weren't on 60's J basses, but this is just a bit of a mash up of parts and I love them 60's colours. Spike: already got a black jazz - looking for something a bit more colourful!
6. The purple does look great. I was following the that thread when it was going on...hopefully it'll be finished soon! Musicman - yeah, I would say seafoam is one of my favourite colours for a guitar. Excellent choice!
7. Hi all, I received an SX jazz bass body yesterday for the princely sum of £17. So now thoughts turn to the other bits. I'm thinking of going with no pick-guard and just a control plate, perhaps some Rio Grande Muy Grande pickups, and definitely a maple neck. Trying to keep this as low cost as possible (apart from the pups), so that means painting it myself. I'm going to use Manchester Guitar Tech's nitro lacquer but need some help in deciding the colour. Remember it will be an all maple neck, and I love the 60's pastel colours, not looking for black, white or sunbursts and blue's don't do much for me. Let's do this! Thanks all
8. That looks superb. The cream covers set it off just nicely. Re: the decal, I think it looks great as it is, gives it a super clean look. Great build diary, been watching this from the start.
9. Yeah, I've used IBAN and BIC too. Freaked me out a bit at first, but it's all good.
10. also, the sunburst one looks beautiful

12.
My local music shop Promenade has ordered one in for me to look at as Gary there knows I'm a Grabber fan. I had a 70s G3 and loved the sound but didn't get on with the weight, hopefully these will compare with my old lighter Grabber 1. The first G3 pickups were designed by Bill Lawrence and the neck was bolt on - think these are set necks so it will be interesting to see how they sound.
Ahh cool, Promenade is my local too, so let me know when it comes in...unless you buy it, of course! The sunburst one looks great.
13. Beautiful. I still miss my old G3. Good luck with the sale!
14. Never used them, but look great, decent prices and positive reviews from six string builders. They sometimes have bass bodies for sale on ebay - a 3 piece alder jazz went for about £42 plus postage just last week.
15. Pow - could you give me a link to the ebay shop? I googled 'Yuma Japan' and it seems there is a japanese pornstar by that name
16. That's going to look great - excellent idea!
17. Stunning amp...loved it when it was mine. It really roared when you pushed it, but had that great creamy bassy sound. This used to be vegas_hooker's (on here) amp before I got it, so it has a fairly long BC history. Good luck with the sale Jig!
18. Great work! Loved watching this one...enjoy it!
19. That looks like OTM or Ocean Turquoise Metallic. Looks great!
20. haha, no trouble...just making sure you haven't forgot!
