1. Hi Chaps, I swapped this for one of my original EMG DC's a while ago with The Rinder off these parts - It's a cracking pick-up with more punch than a seaside resort! Truth be told, I prefer the more balanced setup of the DC and CS that I've got in the bass now (It made my bass a little bit too uber punchy). Anyway, I can supply pick if needed, but all the details are here: http://www.emginc.com/displayproducts.asp?...p;categoryid=29 Apparently there are actually for 6 string bass, but it seemed to be fine in my 5-er with 18mm spacing. Not sure how much a single one goes for (a new one is about £85 from The Gallery 0 if they can get hold of them!) PM me with offers, postage will prolly be about £5. Included will be the Volume and Tone harnessing (one Vol and one Tone), and the battery connector. Cheers and all the best, Rich
2. Hi Chaps, I put this up in the wrong section a while ago, so thought I'd put in in the right one place..... I've got a Proel 2U rack bag that's very soon to be replaced, so is for sale - No photos of it at the moment - I've lost the USB cable for my camera! But it's this one: http://stage.proelgroup.com/stage/en/produ...=11199669145860 If you want any pics of the case, I might be able to get some done with my mobile phone camera. I'm asking for £25, plus £10 p&p Cheers, Rich

Who needs guitarists.....? And thanks for the link to the 5x2 'er - Looks promising. Am keen to try it out.. Cheers again, Rich
5. He's a legend. I'm intrigued - does anyone know if you can get a 10-stringer (as in low ? I'd love to have a go at that. Ooooh - and while I'm here, has anyone tried playing a 8 or what not finger style? I'm guessing that you might have to reverse the courses of the strings (eg, thick string on top, octave below)? Rich
6. Jeff Ament was (and still is) my hero. The only time I've played an 8 -stringer, I obviously had to play Jeremy! Rich
7. Indeedy - I just want MORE!!!!! Mwhhahahahhhhahhhaaa! Can't have enough of 'em! Rich
8. Mmmmmm - Pictures are always good! :-) Rich
9. The EA iAMP 800 had a tuner in it, as did it's predecessor the iAMP 600 - They stopped making it as the tuner supplier (Sabine) stopped making the parts they needed to fit it into the amp! I'm quite lucky - I managed to get one of the 800's with the tuner - they pop up every so often, and they have the added benefit of being Fricking Amazing amps. Keep an eye open for them. Cheers, Rich
10. I think the Chicken grease was James Jamerson - Thought I could be wrong.... As for grease or vaseline on the saddles, instead of that, try rubbing a bit of pencil in the grooves and in the nut, should help smooth out the action when you're tuning. I certainly noticed a difference. Plus it'd remove the risk of ruining the string. Sorry for the wayward topic-ness, by the way. Maybe if you change the strings if they're getting too dull, boil them up and put them back on. They'll be bright again, but will dull out a lot quicker (or so I found when I used to do that - Now I always use fresh string, helps me control the EQ much easier and I find the lows are much lower. Again, could just be me). Cheers, Rich
11. Cheers Simon, I'll check that out too... Oooh, and it being a small world, I work in the same building as Giles from Casa...and I know Dele (saying that, I reckon everyone knows Dele!) Think I saw you guys play a couple of times too. Rich
12. Cool - I'll defo keep an eye out for you in Cambridge, I'll pop in and say hi next time you're about. Drop me a line if you've got anything on and I'll try and get along. Cheers, Rich P.S. You don't know any drummers available in Huntingdon/ St. Ives do you...? :-)
13. Interesting points, chaps - I did start writing a lengthy reply with some thoughts, but somehow lost them...? So I shall spare you my meanderings! It's a fair point, and I can quite easily get by with something like a Lakky 55-01 (obviously a very good bass in it's own right, and I can honestly say it's wasted on me, I'm not a particularly talented player in any way shape or form!!!) but it's nice to have a bass that I have a real emotional bond with that I've experienced with any of the other (numerous!) basses I've owned! Anyway, back on topic, Mike: That's looking one super sexy bass! Some beautiful lines going on there! All the best, Rich
14. Cool - I'll keep and eye out for you - Where do you gig? I've not played in Huntingdon (with my band called Sushi)for a year or so (maybe more) but the remnants of the band are starting to do some acoustic type shenanigans that they want me involved in - should be good fun. Do you know/ have you heard of Jakobi by any chance? Cheers, Rich
15. Cheers guys, thanks for all your comments! I've practised (and played) at RAF Wyton too, and we used to have a regular practice ((and occasional gig) at The Sun, if any of you have frequented there - Though that was all with my other band that was based in Huntingdon. What band are you in Muppet? I might have heard of you lot! Cheers, Rich
16. Looking good! I vote for top (same place as Eude says - I think we have similar tastes... ) Also as Mr Dontcarebear beat me to it - How about on the 12th fret? (if it can fit) - In the fingerboard, or is the logo too big? Rich
17. It's an awesome bass - Stunning punchy sound, comfortable as anything, and abosolutely stunning to look at. The neck was the basis for my Shuker build. Also, for what it's worth, it's not an LX, it pre-dates those particular models and actually has a SOLID maple body, rather than the veneer that the LX's have (an in my, probably uninformed opinon...) is probably a better model. For a ball park guide on what a cracking price for this bass, check out the price this LX went for: http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=2384 You can't go wrong - Added in that Pablo is a top bloke to deal with too. And the middle picture has my duvet cover in the background! Rich
18. We bought a Skytec monitor once - it was shoddy as hell, and that was in the relatively undemanding role as a vocal monitor. Was (and still is) simply awful. I'd steer well clear of that particular brand. Rich
19. Cheers Guys, I'll have a hunt around - I've not checked on Cambridgebands for a while, it didn't seem to be working last time I tried - I'll have another go. Town area would be good, PA and Drums would be superb (I'm the only one with transport....) as the others are somewhat lethargic about getting about the place. I think the Lock in seemed the best bet, sa it had everything, but they (other band members) weren't too keen on hiring it for a minimum of 4 hours and paying £7 an hour (I actually don't think it's that bad a rate - especially when beggars can't be choosers.....) Cheers again, Rich
20. Hi everyone.... Apologies if this is wrong section of the forum - Mods, feel free to shift it to the appropriate place - but does anyone know any practice /rehearsal rooms in Cambridge? The only one I can find is 'The Lock Up' - But some of my other band mates don't want to go there Cheers in advance! Rich *Nuts - Just noticed this is totally the wrong section! Doh! Sorry - Hopefully I'll be shifted to the relevant one! Cheers - Rich
21. Excellent find there Rich, I'm going to have a look and see if I can find some suitable ones for mine. I take it I've got 1/4" like you - Best check when I get home! Now, what do you reckon - ebony like yours or shall I try and get some darkish maple to match the bass? Rich
