1. Yum yum yum yum yum..... Sounds excellent too. Congratulations on a beauty! Rich
2. Mmmmm - All lovely stuff..... I've only just come across this post, so thought I'd best add in mine.... Shuker Single Cut Custom 5: English White Ash Body, Cooked Maple top, Maple and Wenge 5 piece laminate 35" scale neck with Graphite rods, EMG DC and CS pick ups and 18v Shuker 3 band EQ. Not getting used as much as I'd like it to at the moment, but hopefully should be remedying that soon. Rich
3. Wow. That's lovely. I've just dribbled on my desk. Rich
4. Cheers Owen! Hope all is well with you (what did you end up doing to that Fretless bling-ray?). Amp is now sold, subject to the usual - Cheers for all the interest all those that PM'd me. All the best, Rich
5. Hi all, I'm having my usual attack of GAS, coupled with just wanting a change for the sake of it. So here I'm offering my EA iAMP 800 for sale. It's one of the earlier ones, with the built in Sabine Tuner (bit of a godsend that), offers 500w at 8 ohms, 800w at 4 ohms and 1k at 2 ohms. Really intuitive setup with the LED lights for the input gain, comprehensive EQ section (Though I have to admid, I never use it...) Some actually useful preshapes, mute, DI (Pre or Post EQ)and level, Headphone out (and CD in +level), effects loop with level. Lots of stuff really. And very powerful, clean sounding and loud. And pretty light (19 lbs). You can get more details here: http://www.eaamps.com/2005/products/iamp800.htm and here's a couple of pictures of the amp: Front: Back: Not really looking for trades (unless you have one of those EBS microbass II pedals...), and am after £450, plus postage (prolly about £20). Drop me a PM if you're interested and if you need any more pictures, just say and I'll sort some out for you. Cheers and all the best, Rich
6. Hi Chaps, I'm selling my Aphex Punch Factory - It's in great condition, and will include the manual (I don't have the original box). I bought this from a fellow Basschatter some time ago (think it was Higgie). It's a cracking compressor (as lots of people will attest) - I just don't use it. Picture is here: I'm after £50 posted. I've got a power supply (I think from a telephone answering machine!) that works with it that you can have for an extra, say, £3 to cover the postage. Anyway, drop me a PM if you're interested. Cheers and all the best, Rich
7. I loved that bass; Looks to die for and so much oooomph in the sound. I just couldn't get it to sit with a Piano (oddly). Funnily enough, we got rid of the pianist and that was a lot easier to take! Good luck with the bass - It's an absolute peach! Rich
8. Joe, You always seem to have exceptional taste in basses, I've noticed. Good luck with the sale/trade - It's a beauty. All the best, Rich
9. Are they still making the 'Alien' acoustic bass these days? That was a bit of an interesting take if I remember rightly. Rich
10. Just a quick question - Any chance of the (external) dimensions at all? Cheers, Rich
11. Speaking personally, I was originally after the 1210L to replace my 1210R (I originally sold the 1210R to try out some EA Cabs - a CXL110 and a CXL112 pair) - but Shaun only had the 1212L in stock, and I thought well b*gger it, that'll do me. I wasn't really fussed as I'd heard that they all had similar sounds, give or take, so I wasn't worried about buying blind. I think the 1212L is a little 'flatter' in response than the 1210, with a bit more upper mid that I always thought was laking in the 1210. However, there have been several iterations of the crossover being used, and I could tell the difference between the original 1212L and the replacement 1212L (paragraph below...) Shaun was great when my original 1212L developed a fault, ordered a new one in direct from Jorg, and came up to Cambridge to swap it over. It took a little while, but thatw as understandable being a) Christmas time and having the new cab shipped over from Jorg. It wasn't a disastrous fault, and Shaun kept me up to date with everything the whole time - so your money's safe with him! As or weight - Yup, I walk from the car with bass on my back, iAmp in one hand, Cab in the other. It's bliss. Rich
Reeeeally.... hmm, that's a valid concern you raise there. I guess that kind of opens it up to wondering whether it's worth shelling out for the light version, or even if it's worth getting the 1212L, as keeping costs low and going with what I know was why I was opting for the 1210R. Shaun at SHX music said that he prefers the 1210R as it gets a bit more oomph and works very well with rock, but reckons if I'm a 5 or 6 string player I'd perhaps prefer the lights. It seems a lot of you started with 1210's and moved up to 1212's, was that just the 'more power!' thing or was there a genuine bonus to them that you found? Mark P.S. Discussing this is making me go crazy! I want a Schroeder now! P.P.S. ... and perhaps some means of amplification so that it's not just an expensive furry table sitting in my apartment.
12. You'll have to let us know how (or me at least) how you get on with the BFM's - It's something I've been contemplating for a little while - seeing as you'll have experience of the little Schroes and the bigger ones, I'd be fascinated to hear what you make of them. Which one (s) are you going for? Rich
13.
With a cab like the Schroeder I wouldn't worry too much about putting too many watts into it. You'll likely as not be bleeding from the ears way before you need to worry about the drivers complaining, just don't use too few watts and drive the amp into clipping.
The man speaks the truth - Wise words indeed. :-) Rich
14.
Markbass SA450, the additional sweepable eq would give you more control over that mid-hump - someday you might not want it there. As for volume, its as loud as an Eden WT800 (some say louder on TB) so that really shouldn't be an issue!
Indeed - anything with a parametric type EQ should do the job. To flatten the sound out a bit (low volume practice with guitars etc.... when the mid hump makes it sound a bit 'boxy') I cut around 300hz, and add a little bit around 1k. Then Bass and Treble to taste. "Nice bass tone - Done!", as Mr Ramsay would say. Rich
15. Hi Mark, I used to have a 1210R (and now have a 1212L) and they're superb cabs for gigging with. I used to power the 1210 with an Ashdown ABM 300 - I actually really liked the tone I got from that, especially when the cab was being driven a bit (very tight punchy lows - something I wouldn't normally associate with Ashdown gear...). Currently I'm using an EA iAmp 800 - And it seems to work very well, - generally I run it absolutely flat and adjust EQ from my bass. I've tried other amps through the cab, and used to own an Eden (WT400) - a very, very nice amp - but I thought didn't really suit the cab that well and made the bass sound a little bit 'boingy' or 'Rubbery' - I'm guessing that it's because the Schroeder has a low mid hump, as does the Eden and it was all a little bit too much low mid (however, the enhance knob helped a bit). The iAmp has a very flexible EQ section, so I can pretty much dial in any sort of sound that I want. I've not tried a Mark Bass head through it yet - though I've heard some good reports from people who have. As for amp power; the cab is very, very loud (mid hump again) and doesn't require very many watts to get very, very, very loud. My iAmp is meant to put out 800w, and that would scare the living crap out of me if I put it through the cab (and deafen the crowd!) I wouldn't aim to purposely overdrive the cab, or you'll most likely be looking at an expensive bill for replacement speakers (as would happen with any other cab!) Rich
16. :-) That's all I can say. Nice one mate! Rich
17. WHAMMMMMOOOOOOOO! Excellent news (all round) mate! Doesn't exist without pics though...... ;-) All the best, Rich

19. No worries about it at all mate! Feel free to use any you like - Alan took some superb photos that really do the flaming justice! Oooowwwww - such a nice bass....... Rich Ahhh - Nice one - just seen some more lovely pics go up!
20. Lovely bass - The middle picture is mine....:-) Is such a lovely bass, if I had the money around I'd have it back in a heartbeat. Good luck with the sale, and whoever buys it will end up with one hell of a bass, I promise. Rich
21. Mmmmmmmmmm.... Me likey. Congratulations on a fantastic looking bass, and I'm guessing it sounds absolutely superb too! Some lovely stuff coming out of Alan's place! Rich
