1. Thanks for the kind comments chaps, Looks nicer in the flesh as well. Am having problems with my ISP hosting the pictures, so they've helpfully removed them. I'll investigate putting them up in Flikr (at work at the moment), but in the meantime the pictures can be seen on the link (http://gallery.me.com/richard.bowman#100082) Cheers, and roll on the weekend! Rich
2. Evening all, With Sofas, decorating, holidays and car servicing all pending, I'm going to put my Tobias Pro 5 up for sale. Previously belonging to slaphappygarry of this parish, it's a 5 string, through neck EMG pick-uped beaut. Apparently was de-fretted, and then re-fretted by Robbie of RIM basses - has done a superb job; I certainly couldn't tell. Pics here: http://gallery.me.com/richard.bowman#100082 As pictured comes with hard case, and I'm looking for what I paid - £400. I'm based around SW London (Twickenham), but can get on the M25/M3/M4 reasonably easy if that helps - or some shipping may be possible at the buyers cost. You can contact me via PM or at richard (at) bowman (dot) plus (dot) com. Cheers and all the best, Rich
3. Indeed! Always the way! Cheers, Rich
4. Cheers for the kind words! I might see how the finances work out and end up keeping it. Had a quick play on it last night and has some really delicious growly sounds coming from it... Cheers, Rich
5. Quick lazy Saturday afternoon bump! Any thoughts? Cheers, Rich
6. A gentle Tuesday bump.... Cheers, Rich
7. A quick Tuesday morning bump. Cheers, Rich
8. Hi all, I bought this bass off a fellow basschatter a couple of months ago (maybe less) - It's a cracking bass - everythigna Warwick should be, but I'e the same issues that I'd had before that caused me to sell my lovely Shuker Single Cut - I've just not got the time to be playing bass at the moment. Coupled with a impending house purchase, priorities have changed somewhat. So I'm offering up this rather nice Warwick Corvette STD 5 string (active). It's in great condition, with no issues to speak of at all. Natural finish and has the hallmarks of being very well looked after by it's previous owners. Pics here: Included will be a slightly battered but very functional hardcase (Hiscox) I'm after what I paid for it, which was £390. Would prefer pick up (I'm in South London, but can travel a bit as I've got a car) or some form of postage can probably be arranged. Drop me a PM or an email to 'richard 'at' bowman 'dot' plus 'dot' com Cheers! Rich
9.
lol do you miss it?
I do too! The neck is to die for. Looks great too. Good luck with the sale. Rich
10. Bought a EBS Microbass off Gwil - very easy transaction, and let me have a play on some of his lovely basses (that Sei Jazz is lovely....) A top chap, and possessor of a gorgeous F-Bass... Mmmmmmmm Cheers, Rich
11. Have had a couple of dealing with Ed - he bought my (lovely) Shuker off me (sniff....), and then was so impressed by the EBS Microbass, he had that too! A top bloke, great to chat with, and is fast becoming a demon collector (and player) :-) Cheers, Rich
12. A 'haven't-given-this-a-bump-in-ages' type of bump. Rich
13. Bump for Sunday evening, and a price drop... Cheers, Rich
14. Hi all, I actually found the amp really good - It replaced an EA iAMP 800, which is no slouch in itself! Actually, I preferred the GB as I found the EA a little to 'dry' for my tastes. The Genz had all the features I wanted (and more), plus it's just so ridiculously light (and I had a Schroeder 1212L) transport was a delight. Saying that, as I mentioned above I only used it for a couple of practices, one (acoustic) gig and have turned it on at home to have a quick noodle maybe once or twice. So in honesty I've no real appreciation for what it can really do. It dis sound good with the Shuker and Schroeder though! :-) It's under offer (and accepted) at the moment, so will mark it as sold as soon as everything goes through. Cheers, Rich
15. Hi Everyone, Continuing my reassessment of my kit and what not, I'm going to be offering my Shuttle 6.0. I got it in June 08, and think I've used it less than half a dozen times - once for a gig (quite acoustic - It worked very well reigning in the bass on a hollow boomy stage). I'm including the Gig bag too (a lovely snug fit, and makes it exceptionally easy to cart about!) It was bought from our very own Bass Direct. As it's in as new condition, I'm looking for £425 plus delivery (if needed). Trade wise I'd be interested in an EBS Microbass plus cash, or possibly a Tascam bass trainer Photo's will go up shortly - might be a bit shoddy as I've only got the camera on my phone :-/ Drop me a PM or email me at: richard 'at' bowman 'dot' plus 'dot' com Edited for addition of bad pics! Cheers, Rich
16. Cheers Alan - I think you'd like it quite a bit as I based the neck on that Spector Euro 5 that I bought from you many moons ago... But thanks for the kind words (and if I remember correctly from seeing pics of your current Spectors - they're non-too shabby!) Afraid I don't have any sound clips, but can basically describe it as thus (though I know it's exceptionally subjective): The Neck DC soled does a pretty good Precision impersonation - a bit more frequency response than I've experienced with P basses though - Deeper lows and nice highs (not clanky though). The bridge is a CS, so is a bit smoother than the DC - When you solo it you can get a good 'bridge-only jazz' sound, though I find it's less 'boxy' and not so nasal and, again, deeper than a single coil. It does have a lovely 'burp' to it and I find it very usable. Together - I'd say it was punchy and aggressive - Good lows, a nicely present mid-range (that gives it a nice growl - especially on the E and and nice controllable highs. The on board EQ is very flexible too. I'll try and investigate ways of getting some sound clips done, not quite sure how as I've not got a great deal of equipment with me, but I'll see what I can do. Cheers and all the best, Rich
17. Thanks for the kind words guys! Shame that the Thumb lottery didn't come off - I'd have been up for a ticket or two. Cheers and all the best, Rich P.S. General question - does the pricing seem reasonable to everyone?
18. Hi Matt, I'm not sure what used basses Jon keeps in stock - I have to admit I haven't ever seen a 6 string on my various visits up there. You can see his stock here: http://www.shukerguitars.co.uk/stock.htm I think that through-neck SC5 (£2500 I might point out... ) is just stunning - I had a play on it last time I was up and it felt spectacular. I saw the headless 5 (though for some reason I thought it was a 4 - memory is fading as I get older...) - also very nice but not sure about headless' in general... All the best, Rich P.S. I'm loving that monster Trace Rig in your avatar!
19. A quick bump with some added photos - Have had some interest, but nothing concrete yet. Cheers, Rich
20. A little New Year's Bump for this. Hope everyone had a great holiday. All the best, Rich
21. Thanks! A very gentle, hopefully festive, Monday morning bump. All the best, Rich
22. Cheers guys, I know... There's so little I can say to justify it, but it just seems stupid that it's being wasted sat in the corner. There's loads of other things that I've had to cut back on as well (Archery, Hockey, Football, Running, Squash... the list goes on) that if I though I had any chance of spare time to start a band I would. Seriously - moving to London has utterly devoured my spare time! Still - if nothing comes of this, I'm hardly going to be gutted, am I! :-) Cheers, Rich
23. Hi all, It’s a hard decision, and certainly not one I’m taking lightly, but I’ve decided to sell my Shuker Single Cut Custom 5. Basically – I’ve not been playing for about the last 6 months, and I can’t see that situation changing anytime soon. I feel shockingly guilty having a) so much money locked up in the bass and that it’s not being used to do what it was built for, just to be sat in it’s case in the corner of the room. I’m not giving up playing, just reassessing and being sensible about the situation. Anyway – enough of that. I’ll let the specs and some pictures do the talking: Body – English White Ash with Cooked Maple Top in Satin Finish Neck – 35’ scale 5 piece Maple and Wenge, graphite reinforced neck. 48mm Nut, 65mm at 12th fret, 75mm at 24th. 22mm deep at 1st, 24mm deep at 12th. 24 medium frets (brand new!) mother of pearl markers on top. Brass nut and Gotoh tuners. Body matching headstock cover Individual Bridge pieces. 18mm string spacing Shuker 18v 3 band (mid-adjustable via rear accessed pot) EQ with gain control. Volume and Pan Custom Wenge Knobs EMG CS (Bridge) and DC (Neck) Pick ups. The bass is in great condition – I’ve only just got it back less than a month or so ago from Jon where it went for a service. Here are some taster pictures, if you want more high-res pics, please check out: http://gallery.me.com/richard.bowman/100017 there’s more there than you could shake a stick at (including construction pictures). Cash wise – I’m after £850. Trade wise - I might be tempted by a Laky 55-01 or something similar (5’s only, I think) plus cash. You can PM me – Though I may take some time to reply as I don’t have access at work – or you can email me at: richard ‘at’ bowman ‘dot’ plus ‘dot’ com. Of course you’re more than welcome to come and try it out – I have an amp (and headphones) but no speakers! I’m based in South London.
