2. Wahey another teenager! woop woop! well mate welcome and if money is an issue then i would suggest a peavey or yamaha... excelent starter basses and make good first choice basses too... welcome!
3. let me be the first (or second if some has already posted while i'm typing this which often happens) to say welcome to the world of bass... and the family... nice to always be finding more and more bass players!
4. thankyou again everyone i tell ya i'd be lost with out this forum... you guys are great... so glad i joined...
5. tis always tragic news to hear of loss of life but for it to be a bass player as well makes it all more of a shock to our world... may his rumbling tones ring on... please pass my condolences...
6. only my self the drummer and lead guitarist in my band and we cope fine... thats just excessive... can you imagine the sound mans face when they show up with 4 guitarist and a bassist... how does the bassist cut through all that...
7. i owe you all a beer and a white wine or fruit based beverage for the lady... i made slight adjustments to the truss rod literally only tiny millimeter adjustments and retuned afterwards... checked the spacing check for the buzzing and after repeating the process of de-tuning and re-tuning and checking the buzzing has now stopped and the bass sounds better than ever thankyou all... PM'd by the way...
8. now i just thought that was a growth but in all honesty where is the bludey thing...
9. yeah but i'm only a bloke... and when it comes to know the technical language i have no idea... the truss rod is located where? see how embarrasing this is...
10. all sorted the neck just needs some relieving because the strings were touching the fret board in the middle when i pushed down on the first and last fret... hold on do i depress both at the same time? or one at a time?
11. cheer for that gamble i'll have a look... i feel silly for having to ask about this stuff i should know really
12. the only reason i ask is because i have this awful buzzing from all strings bar the D string on the 1st and 2nd frets, but then the E string buzzes practically on the whole neck bar say the 17 fret onwards... now i just need to find my alan keys
13. My bass real badly needs setting up... now would it be adviseable to spend cash on it and take it to a shop and have them do it... or do i wait till tinman might have the time to do it for me (as he said he would if he had the time lol) or do i search the internet for a guide and do it my self... what do my fellow basschatters suggest? any suggestions welcome... (i feel really silly)
14. i never saw the fascination with fenders or there crap copies... unfortunately i was the wielder or one for a while as my first purchased bass... first played was when i was about 9 i played on my aunties one and broke the E string on it... am now the beloved bearer of a Peavey Millenium BXP and soon to be the holder of a lovely cheap and lovely sounding and looking Stingray Copy...
15. play the riff or line in the same key but on a different part of the neck for example if you need to play an open E try replacing it with the twelth fret on the E string or the 7th on the A string... all 3 are E but sound different... i rarely play the open E now un-less the song requires it play around get to know the neck and play the riff in a completely different way to the guitarist... just have some fun with it...
16.
Oh for goodness sake!!! The markings are for the viewer to see!!!
thats another debate... no doubt thats what its for but i still feel it is mindless w***ing...
17. has to be an all natural body for me... how ever a lovely patterned body and headstock do it for me too right time for bed...
18. i've written my self a bass solo for one of the songs i've written, (well why should the lead guitarist have all the fun) and i simply used arpeggios and scales following the chords the guitar was playing to doesn't have to be none of this tapping crap, just keep it simple stupid... as my dad once said to me kiss is the best way forward...
19. Slipknot - Psychosocial... awesome tune how ever being played to much on scuzz and kerrang atm... kinda killing it almost...
20.
OMG! Blisteringly fast bass playing on YouTube Apparently, the guys name is Masaki
its a shame mr. masaki is such an awesome bassist that he needs the fret numbers in place of the dot inlays... load of mindless w***ing anyway...
21.
I probably shouldn't upload of photo of my six-string in that case
"We don't take kindly to that sort of thing round here sir i suggest ya keep it to your sen ya hear me?" nice collage and a nice track i do like War... i see what people mean it is very rage against the machine-esque... slightly more filling how ever... vocals and bass in my oppinion are a lot clearer than rage... nice job! p.s welcome to the forum
22. Useless wooden toys - the mans a creep... f***ing love these guys this song especially... can't wait till gaf releases the CD
23. bumpedy bump! i'd take it if cash was no worry but unfortunately it is, my buying buts budget bassist to shame...
24. talking of bargains... my latest purchase was only £120 and am now GASsing for a Flying V bass which i have found for a mear £90 pounds and then a hard case for the £120 for £20... also found a fender rig which when money allows might be purchased for a mear £500... and strap locks for both for only £10 from my local music room!
