cheers the info guys i'll try out some of your suggestions when possible...

i play punk/slash rock music and my budget is probably gonna be around 200 to 300 pounds i reckon hope that helps a bit more... i like to hear the deep notes of the bass really clearly so i can expand and make sure i'm hitting the right note but also i enjoy slapping walking solo's and definatly fast picking... also it can't be too heavy and right now i'm at boarding school so the oppurtunity to go out and try some 5's is very difficult it will be around christmas before i get home and have a chance...

dito on the bass-masta i use that all the time and most of em are pretty accurate...

has anyone read this months issue of bass guitar magazine the punk issue... the ten string issue in it is pretty cool... the thing is massive... one question struck me as i read it WHY??

nice man my first and still only bass is a Precision copy not quite as handsome as that mine has the original red scratch board on it... seeing that i might have to change mine just hope dad has the funds because i really want a new bass, perhaps 5 strings this time lol

if anything i would never be able to play anything by DreamTheatre that man is like a bass playing god, just watching it gives me a headache

the two that instantly spring to my mind are White Stripes - Seven Nation Army Green Day - Holiday (the bass solo) love those songs

just never try and cover any queen! or Chilli Peppers one because yopu can't beat the originals, but don't try and do any Nirvana no one can possibly do it. all these 80's 90's songs there just so original. but what do i know i only started 4 months ago and i only know 3 songs. only time will tell!

the blue wire in my hand is coming from the pick up and wasn't connected to anything if that helps at all?

i was having some trouble picking up sound from my bass when i plugged it into my amp, i did all the checks the amp and cables were fine when i noticed my volume knob was lose and able to wiggle about so i removed the scratch board to tighten the volume knob when i noticed that a blue wire coming from the pick up was not connected to either the control knobs or the jack socket i took a picture to see if any one can help me cos my beautiful bass aint working. where does the blue wire go tone, volume or jack socket?????

i stand to being a lefty too, and i thought i was special seems theres loads of us GO Lefty's!. we aint freaks or kak handed we are unique! as my nan would say lol

fantastic site guys, i'm new to the place so i don't know wat bass talk or world was like. but this place looks really good.

hi there... i picked up a bass guitar a month and half ago and since then i've barely put it down. my equipment is a sesions pro staggered pick up 4 string bass, it's black with a sunburst paint job. i have a peavey amp not sure what make or anything. i only know a few songs but was told about this place by one of my dads friends, am looking for anyone to give any handy hints and tips, just to make my bass playing more enjoyable or even take it as a job one day. oh and by the way i'm a lefty playing a right handed bass, bit special really...
