1.
I like this a lot. So much soul !! The singing at the end gives me goosebumps.
I was at that gig! It looks like the crowd are not that into it, but we were not allowed to stand up! Bouncers told people off it they dared to stand. Halfway through the set, a group of 15 odd people started dancing, and when the bouncers tried to get them to sit, the entire crowd started booing them, then EVERYONE stood up in a fantastic gesture of solidarity. The bouncers had to give up, and the atmosphere was superb after that.
2. I'm in Bulwell. Sorry, but no, I'm happily on the valves at the moment. Good luck though Have an on me
3. Once you go orange you never go back
4. I went from a Marlin Sidewinder to a Stingray. That'll be a no,then! edit: I still have great affection for the Marlin, though. It did me really well.
5.
.... I live about 5 minutes from junction 26 M1 Nottingham.
So do I! Maybe we're neighbours.
6. There was a Barefaced Dubster cab for sale on here a while back. http://barefacedbass.com/product-range/dubster.htm If anything can handle your mega low frequencies, it's that! What head do you have currently? If you also need high end however, I'd suggest looking at the others in the range. Sounds like you might get on well with the guys in who frequent this thread what with their crazy electronic tendancies
7. This is the song that my three-year-old requests every time we get into the car. I'm so glad she has good taste! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FAsGTmUDveU
8. Welcome Love the video.
9. Some nice stuff there RoRi. I was unaware that there was a band called 'sp**k'. How does that look when you 'like' them on Facebook?
10. Understood, but there's no harm in asking whether there are strings out there which both feel and sound the way I want them to. It's my understanding that there have been certain innovations to facilitate this, such as groundwounds, or pressurewounds. What about coated strings? Do they feel any smoother?
11. They should change the name to "Wand Erection", thereby keeping the same name phonetically, avoiding getting sued, and broadening their appeal to the horny adolescent fantasy geek demographic.
12.
Mute with the left hand.
I don't get this, unless you're left-handed. How can you do that if you're fretting the notes at the same time? There is playing ghost notes, but that's not the subject of the thread AFAICS. Palm muting is an option, using the plucking hand.
13. Elephant 9, probably my favourite Scandanavian Hammond-based prog group
14. Thanks for the replies - i'll bear those in mind
15. Welcome. BTW - nice video you've posted You'd never know you'd been playing for such a short time.
16. While killing time at a recording studio last night, I picked up a bass that was lying around. It quickly occurred to me that I had not played roundwound strings for about ten years, and the feeling was somewhat akin to chewing tinfoil, or running fingernails down a blackboard It was both the feeling on my fingers, and the noise when sliding the fingers. It's possible that I'll want a more bright, and modern tone at some point, so can you advise a good compromise? Decent groundwounds for example. I once tried RS pressurewound, but they just felt like roundwounds to me.
17. Good for those who fancy a bit of Peak practice* *poor humour
18. Not my thing at all, but looks like a lot of quality for the current price. Let's see what it ends up at. Sheffield isn't in Derbyshire
19. I love the paint job - to me it has a kind of sci fi "Metropolis" feel
20.
"in the zone" WTF does that mean? Within walking distance of the correct note?
The phrase itself is a bit corny, but the concept is valid, albiet somewhat intangible.
21. fyi http://basschat.co.u...ag-l380-posted/ Not sure if you like five strings. I understand it's over your budget, but as it includes a fitted case and postage, it's a good deal

23.
Play loud...
A fine choice
