1. DR customer service is very good, I'd drop them an email... They'll probably get back to you within 24 hours
2. A tiny smidgen of rattle can sound good though!
3. I think the MC924 is the 24 fret version. Nonetheless these basses are absolutely incredible! The first big boy's bass I ever played was the fretted 24 fret version and it looked exactly like this... I still remember that tone. Such power even through a 1x12 combo! Criminally low price. Good luck!
4. Price Drop: £300 This is an absolutely incredible (yet sadly discontinued) USA made cabinet. After speaking with Peavey UK they confirmed this was the predecessor to the VB series cabs. Incredibly loud, clear and clean, lots of midrange presence, sits perfectly in any band mix and looks great on stage. Weighs around 90lbs and comes with push fit castors so it's very easy to move around. Only selling it because it doesn't have that harsh upper midrange nastiness that most people dislike in Markbass amps 8 ohms 4 - 10" high-performance, cast-frame speakers 1" horn tweeter Rugged all-plywood cab construction Durable carpet covering 700W power handling Equipped with casters 23"W x 30-3/4"H x 18-1/2"D
5.
Very cheap compared to the big name brands too, how do they compare for output to bog standard Mex pups and hotter Dimarzios I wonder?
Too cheap! They kick the arse off of SD quarter pounders, the hottest passive pickups I've ever come across! And they are very present in the mids. Worth a go definitely
6. Try the Entwistle neodymium j pickups, theyre huge!!!
7. I really like the Kestrel! I've always thought PRS basses looked ridiculously over the top (with a ridiculous price to match) but this is very much more like it
8. I'm pretty sure the last venue I played used this to mic up the bass drum
9. I can't compare the two, but the Neo versions have definitely got a much higher output! Compared to the SD quarter pounders, they are again higher output and with more midrange clarity. Very good pickups indeed!
10. What's the point in life itself???
11.
I paid via Visa debit :S
I was able to get money back from Stoke on Trent City Council by contacting my bank, you'll be sound
12. It will come out in your favour. You've paid, and unless he can prove that you received the item your money is safe This is why I always send things "signed for"!
13. Which brings another benefit of higher output power... Dynamics! (Obviously, with the amount of compression and overdrive I use that makes no difference to me )
14.
You can pluck harder and the amp does not complain or give up, it just gets louder.
Haha, I used the famous Carlsbro Stingray at rehearsal the other day... Whenever I hit a low Eb the inbuilt limiter hit so hard it took about half a second for any sound to come through
15.
I also learned that positive feedback has NO bearing on any case. Which is bloody ridiculous in my view.
Thanks for the heads up! I thought once you'd left positive feedback you couldn't open a case. Looks like I won't be using eBay to sell any time soon!
16.
Does that mean he finishes the gig before everyone else then? Packed up and long gone before the last number? If so, sounds ideal......lol......
Hahaha Thankfully he's not one of those drummers that can't keep tempo. He's just capable of playing very fast and not sounding like a sloppy mess. Very fun to have a drum/bass jam with!
17. I'd say headroom too. The ability to have a clearer cleaner sound at higher volumes. Although I'm sure a lot of it is marketing. I mean look at what Behringer are doing at the moment, advertising their gear purely on how many watts you get!
18. Red's always the hot one, get it stuck in!
19.
Age.
I think our drummer is 19, there are good ones out there will all their teethz honest!
20. I guess I'm blessed. Ryan from Generations is the perfect drummer! Tight as a nun's chuff, very fast, powerful (loud) but controlled! Never heard him make a mistake but he's very humble and picks out mistakes that even a fussy git like me doesn't notice!
21. Glad you're enjoying it! It's definitely the best j pickup I've ever heard! Generally I prefer a humbucker at the bridge for extra heft but this is a great alternative!
22.
Those of you who did order a Limelight bass built to your spec why did you have a Fender logo put on it?
Obviously, I haven't bought one. If I did I would probably have a Fender logo on it. Purely for the looks, no other reason! If people assumed it was a Fender that's cool, but if anyone asked I'd say it was a Limelight.
23. It's cool to know that the ex artist stuff I've seen in music shops has actually been bought and gigged by them blokes off the telly!
24. My avatar is a good example of beer + bass
