1. Is the nut on a non-bendwell model the same as on the bendwell? I have one with the bendwell and the nut is a ballbearing job that accepts big ass strings!
2.
Just pay the tax, it's the right thing to do.
+1 There is a difference between avoidance and evasion. And the OP is attempting evasion.
3. If you pay £500 for a bass and insure it for £1000 then you still only get to claim £500 back if it is destroyed / damaged - because that is what you lost. Insurance is not there to make a profit on, it is to put you back into the same financial position as you were before the item went missing / damaged etc. To claim more than your actual loss is called Insurance Fraud.
4. I reckon you need a pair of Markbass Club 121H cabs. So you can take 1 for little jams, and a pair for bigger stuff. They are about £550 ish new, but I know where you can get a pair for £700! ahem.... (in my sig!!)
5. I've emailed Stringbusters to see if they can get me a load. Fingers crossed and all that!
6. One day I will own a Hyperbass. A 4 string only though! Couldn't cope with that wonderful monster!
7. Visual Sound 1-Spot. [end of thread]
8. They don't feel like flats at all, more like a smooth roundwound. Tension is quite light (which I love). I love the sound. Very nice fundamental, but with great clarity.
9. Never tried an AE112. But considering neo cones sound very different from non-neos I would imagine there is quite a difference. But the HD112 has now arrived! Can't wait to plug it in!
10. As long as the courier gets here, today I will receive a Berg HD112! I have lusted after these cabs ever since my visit to Bass Direct, but I had to start selling stuff before I could buy one. And I still need to sell my Markbass Club 121H cabs before I can order a second Berg. I tried loads of kit at Mark's shop but the set up that completely blew me away was the Genz Shuttle 9.2 and a Berg 2x12. I refuse to even try and carry an old skool 2x12 anymore so a pair of 1x12 is the perfect solution. I have the amp already, and now half the cabs are on the way! Pics and report when I get them up and running.
11.
I hadn't thought of that! Just picked up an IRig Stomp so could try this out.
I have 2 octave pedals on my board - a MXR Bass Octave Deluxe which is an Analogue pedal - tracks quite well, but is very sensitive to where you pluck the strings and can be glitchy and squealchy - perfect for 1970s funk or for use into an Envelope filter... but when I want it super clean and accurate I use a Micro POG. That compresses the tone a bit so not as good before any type of playing sensitive filter, but the tracking is rock solid. and as it happens - I often use my Streamline with them!
12. I use an Octave instead of a 5 most of the time. It's great!
13.
Funnily enough I tried the Streamliner through one of the Bergantino 112s as a comparison and didn't quite gel with it in the same way as I did with the Vanderkleys. However I wish I'd had enough time to try a single Vanderkley 1x12 with the Streamliner, as I wonder if the coupling of the speakers made things sound....fuller?
That's what I thought - Streamliner with the Vanderklays, or a Shuttle with the Bergs.
14. That is lovely, but I have no money to put in, and I really need some Berg cabs!
15. I tread that set up, but in the end am going for the Genz Shuttle 9.2 and the Berg HD112 cabs. Though choice though- both very good indeed!
16.
Somebody must be wholesaling them, because I simply e-mailed the info line at stringbusters, and the "Brite Flats" I was after were delivered in 5 days. Just because they're not listed on the web-site, doesn't seem to mean that they can't quickly get product. Balcro.
I will try that. Thanks.
17. Cor blimey they are good!! Put a set on my Jap P bass and they sound lovely! Plenty of fundamental but with a clear top end. I may have to order a box of them for all my basses!
18. I got mine from an ebay shop. I'll dig out the name in a bit.
19. Have just arrived from the USA. Got 2 sets - going to put 1 on my Status Streamline and 1 on my P bass. Always wanted to try them, but no one in the UK seems to stock them. Full report when I get a mo.
20. In The classifieds... Hartke HA3500 head. Great bit of kit and Mark Bass Club 121H. Super light weight 1x12 cab. (Mine!)
21. Energizer Rechargables in the basses. I recharge them on 1st Jan and 1st July. As long as you unplug then they should last over 300 playing hours easy. Pedals - always use a supply.
22. I am having a cab change. So I am selling a pair of Markbass Club 121H cabs. Just like these ones: http://www.andertons...t-w-tweeter.asp 400W power handling. 8 ohms. Only 28lb in weight! The cab is a wedge design so can be tilted back as a monitor too. The horn tweeter has level control. [s]£365 each + shipping, or £700 for the pair.[/s] [s]NOW £350 each or £675 for the pair + shipping[/s] [s]last price drop before ebay £335 each or £650 for the pair + shipping. Forgot to say - they come with a set of padded covers.[/s] ****SOLD**** BONUS OPTION: I have decided to also sell my Hartke LH500 amp. If you want both cabs (and covers) and the head (house use only) that would be £875.00, and I would also include a couple of speaker cables so you have an immediately useable rig. Shipping would be at your expense so collection would be sensible. Collection also possible from near J16 M1 (Northampton) - or I can meet you some where sensible Pics of mine: ta Paul.
23.
I've found the Marshall VBC412 a very efficient cab. A real pain to lug around but sounds amazing with my GK800rb, also sounded great with 100watt valve heads; paired very well with the '70s V4B I used to have, quite an SVT beater for a mortal like me. I was astounded how much louder the same settings (at gigs and rehearsals) were when going from an SVT410e, which is a nice sounding cab otherwise. I can't quote specs, but maybe a combination of a big sealed compartmented box and 100watt 12s getting worked hard maybe. Good for a band with a lock-up rehearsal room and a van! I'll get my coat...
+1 I ran a pair of Marshall VBC412 for a while and it was fantastic. But at about 108lb they are not an easy lift! But unlike many bass cab makers, you get castors! For smaller cabs I really like Mark Bass cabs, although I fancy a change and will be selling my pair of MB Club 121H cabs, as I have severe Berg gas!
