1. Ordered a couple of things from them - never any problems. IIRC, postage is free for orders over £100... BB
2. Hey Harry - welcome. Don't apologise for your English - it's far better than my Italian... Groove on, BB
3. Greetings Rhumbob. Send us some sun, will ya? Have fun, and groove on BB
4. I have a MIM Jazz that, um, never goes out of tune. I also have a CIJ P bass which never seems to stay in tune for more than 5 minutes... BB
5. What kind of batteries are you using? Alkaline batteries or zinc chlorides won't last long - even some of the premium brands. And some rechargeable batteries just aren't worth the effort after they get past a certain age. You could try lithium batteries - they're not cheap, but do tend to last longer for this kind of thing. Bestaluck BB
6. Hey Raf, welcome. There's nothing poor about your English at all! Stay groovy, BB
7. Hey Steve, welcome. The rest of this lot can speak for themselves - I'm a sprightly virtual teenager at 46... Groove on, BB
8. I can't comment on the specifics of your plan, but I do know of many folks - friends and professionals - who've custom rewound their pickups to achieve some fabulous sounds. If I had the faintest idea of how to do it (or the slightest modicum of talent), I'd do the same for my Jap P bass which is woefully underpowered. Go for it. BB
9. Stuff depreciates, but money does too. And there are so many other factors - vintage value, availability, modding etc. You might have bought a P Bass in 1962 for £79 and thruppence-tuppence h'apenny but that doesn't mean selling it for less. A MIM Jazz bought last year probably won't go for more. Some new Jaydee custom basses have an 18 month waiting list, so they probably will go for more. Other stuff can be improved (or indeed wrecked) by modding. I guess you win some, you lose some. I once bought a Fender Rhodes eleccy piano for £100, and sold it a year later for £200. I also bought a Trace Elliot Series 6 full stack a few years back for £600, and sold it for a disappointing £250 on fleaBay. I subsequently bought an American Ampeg SVT half stack for £450 from the same place, and shifted it for more when I sold it recently. I guess it's all down to market forces. We've all known on BC how certain brands can fall in and out of love... BB
10. This will be happening to us later tonight, when we play at a wedding do. The groom is in a band we used to compete with, so it will be an interesting night. I'm a lefty, so there's little chance of anyone being able to play my bass... BB

Hi

We are the very definition of gentility. Not! Welcome, and groove on. It's actually quite civilised round here... BB
12.
Macs are essentially ,closed' systems, so Apple maintains strict quality control over all aspect of what's running on them.
This may be true of iOS devices (iPhones & iPads), since all apps indeed have to be approved by Apple. However the Mac OS is an open system in the same way as Windows. You can run whatever you like on them (or whatever is available from the developer community.) Additionally, using either Bootcamp or Parallels, they can be configured to run Windows too. MiltyG565 started a thread on this here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/215112-how-do-i-partition-my-hard-drive-and-install-windows/ BB
13. I'd certainly go for a Mac. This plus Logic has had a transformational effect for me. Just check that the model you look at has the right inputs for you. Lately Apple has been doing away with audio inputs and Firewire in favour of USB 3 and Thunderbolt. No bad thing, but if you're old school like me... BB
14. I've had a Mex Jazz for several years, but recently bought a Jap P 'cos I wanted one. A combination of underpowered pickup and a fat neck on the P sent me pretty quickly back to the Jazz. I know this won't be everyone's experience, but I personally can't fault the Mex Jazz which has been a loyal servant for many years. I know that a lot of people switch out the pickup on their P, but I personally can't be arsed, having only recently bought the P. The J however is always ready to offer full-range tones - given sympathetic amp EQ settings, of course. Low mids on the amp EQ can often speak volumes... BB
15. There are some impressive lightweight 1x12 and 2x12s making their way to the market lately. Hartke do a mighty impressive 1x12, while GK, Tecamp and TC do some fine 2x12s... BB
16.
Do what I (sub-consciously) did. Go and see some local bands and when you hear a tone you like, make note of the rig. Then keep doing the same - gives an opportunity to go out and have fun as well.
This. And surprisingly, I've heard an awful lot of fine-sounding Ashdowns lately, though it's a brand that I wouldn't normally consider. BB
17. I'm quite a fan of GK, and recently bought an MB212-II combo, reviewed here: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/210401-gallien-krueger-mb212-ii-500w-combo/ There are pluses and minuses. On the good side, it's stupidly light at 41 lbs, and delivers all 500W to the internal speakers without need for an extension cab. On the bad side, GK don't seem to be renowned for their reliability, and I had to send mine back - twice - before getting number three delivered a couple of days ago. You can still get the series 1 models at £450, which is what I went for in the end. I'm in West Bromwich if you want to give it a whirl. PM me. BB
18. Greetings. You posted this at 4.27am?? And I thought I spent a lot of time at the computer...! Enjoy the site - groove on. BB
19. Welcome Lloyd. A fretless Precision, huh? I think there's a thread on oxymorons round here somewhere! Enjoy, and groove on.. BB
