  1. 2 Deloreans in 2 weeks. WOW its a sign. Buy one and make it 3. πŸ˜œπŸ˜‚ Dave
  2. Nice. What basses have you chosen ? Is that a Sire Jazz in front ? Dave
  3. Think it depends on the venue over here Daryl. Bar gigs are usually free but most of the Clubs are tickets. The clubs are usually Bowling Clubs or Ex-Services type clubs rather than the usual Sat night clubbing scene from when we were younger πŸ˜‚ Dave
  4. Nice wee afternoon gig for us with the Glam band at Polmont Bowling Club. Sold Out too. To be fair it only holds 65 seated. πŸ˜‚ Organiser was telling us they had a band in last night Sat and it was free entry but only 18 people turned up yet a Sun afternoon ticketed show and it sold out fast with many folks still asking for tickets after selling out. We have played it 3x before to be fair and it was full. Audience up for it from first song so that was great to see. Even the songs with no dancers we got a lot of applause and cheers at the end like Ziggy Stardust. Was very hot and sweaty even with my large fan. Left the house at 10:45am arriving 12 noon. Start time 3pm - 4pm then 4:30 to 5:45pm. Greggs sandwiches supplied too. All went well and home by 8pm via chippie. Used the Sandberg VM4 into Shure wireless and Keeley Comp then Handbox WB-100 and Barefaced 212 cab. Sounded very nice. Dave
  5. That's quite a good set up with your singer also playing guitar. Allows you to fill out the songs a bit more. Our singer in the Glam covers band also plays guitar. Makes quite a difference. Dave
  6. That is a bit tight for 3 guitarists plus drums in an alcove i always find makes them loud and sometimes a bit booming. I'm assuming one of the guitarists is the singer. ? Dave
  7. That's sad and happy at the same time Steve. Glad you've all remained the great friends you've always been. Makes sense. All the very best on 7th Oct. Should be a fantastic night with so much emotion. Dave
  8. Yep always be prepared. I take spare everything except strings. I take 2 basses, 2 amps, batteries, straps, tools, 2 sets of Glam gear and even 2 boots. πŸ˜‚ Dave
  9. That's gorgeous. Would love to try one. Does it help and make playing a bit easier at the nut end. Dave
  10. I tend to use the same black 4" strap with straplocks on all the basses i gig with. I also keep a spare strap that's good quality but not quite as comfy. Because of the Glam gear and wigs etc its easier to throw my strap over my shoulder and under the hair so as not to pull on the wigs and then attach my bass. Sometimes i just put my bass on in changing room and put the wig on last. The things i do for Glam 🀩 Only my Warwick Thumb has its own strap because of where it sits the strap is shorter. Dave
  11. I have a Warwick Thumb NT4 i bought in 1989 and love it. Its a keeper and has one of the best necks i've ever played. Its just a bit heavy to gig these days and doesn't suit the Glam band. Did have a Streamer on loan when my Thumb was sent back to Germany after the electronic module failed. Sealed unit and could not be repaired locally back then. Dave
  12. I think he needs to invest in a back up strap and some time in sorting out his pedal board. No-one should be getting shocks from a pedal board. Its generally all low voltage in pedals and suspect its more a static thing than actual voltage shock but definitely needs investigating. I prefer my fans in front of the band πŸ˜‚πŸ˜œπŸ˜‚ I take a large 18" gym fan for our female singer and a smaller 16" gym fan for myself. Drummer also uses a 16" gym fan. Wearing Glam costumes and wigs it does get very hot on stage and those fans and 2 litres of water each gig are my saving grace. 🀩 Dave
  13. Its always interesting to hear what gear you pick from such a large collection but i have noticed you do seem to prefer your Spectors. I tried one in Bass Direct but just couldn't take to the neck and went for a Dingwall 5 stringer. Not sure what version it was. Neck felt very plankish and hard to the touch if that makes sense. Just didn't fit my hand shape. Would have been circa Β£1k - Β£1.5k price range back in 2016 ish. Dave
  14. Curious what gear you use in a pub band @cetera ? I'm guessing a GK rig but what bass ? Dave
  15. Or she's been telling it to someone else πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜œ Dave
  16. That was down to the venue. Band name did appear every now and again and was showing before we started. I do like a screen backdrop. Dave
  17. Nice bass @BCH what is it ? Dave
  18. We do Sweet, Mud, T-Rex, Bowie 70's Glam era, but i'll youtube Lillian Axe as i've never heard of her. Dave Update : had a listen and its a good version but the original was better IMO. Also now realise its not a Her. πŸ˜‚ Wouldn't class them as Glam but more just American Hair rock era. Dave
  19. We talked about doing it Daryl but decided it wasn't Glam rock. Dave
  20. Lot of energy on that stage guys. You can just feel it. Amazing how double bass works so well in that style of band. Well done. Dave
  21. We do Mamma Mia in the Glam band and its a nice wee song. No Matter What by Badfinger is an absolutely cracking song. Enough so that when i first heard it a few yrs back i bought the album based on that song and was not disappointed by them. Dave
  22. I just find a coffee lets me wind down a bit after driving at night. If you get to sleep within 20-30mins then caffeine hit doesn't affect you plus its decaf coffee i drink. Dave
  23. BLOCKBUSTARZ at Lilliardsedge Caravan Park for the Hot Rods in the Borders weekend. Another great night was had. 3 yrs in a row we've been asked back by the Hot Rods guys which is nice. 2 x 45min sets that ended up a bit longer 9 - 10pm and then 10:15 - 11:30pm. Very warm on stage, sound wasn't quite perfect but sounded ok out front. We had problems with the drum channels on the desk and decided to just leave them out and play raw along with bass and guitar backline only. Only vocals thru our desk and the venues PA which is always a risky business but it works. Very busy night, all seats taken with every table full and standing at the back of the hall. Its actually a permanent marquee tent they have. Nice set up but stage is hollow and does create a boom so used my Gramma board last night. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. There is some doubt about whether the Hot Rods will run the event next year but organiser for the Park who books us said she would be happy to have us back next year same time provided the event goes ahead. Decided to give the Godin bass a run out and it has a wonderfully deep warm P type tone that i have to admit was very nice IMO. It was in PJ mode all night, both pick ups selected. Godin bass, Shure wireless, Keeley Bassist comp, Mesa TT800 Boogie channel, Mesa SW210/115 cabs. Sandberg VM4 as back up. Really quite liked that Godin tone tho and its a really nice bass to play with a narrow neck very similar to the VM4 but having that typical old Fender-ish tone it kinda suits the music more than the VM4 which has a modern tone in comparison. I believe Godin had Seymour Duncan produce the pick ups for them. 1.5hrs drive home along quiet country roads made for an easy drive home but my eyes were starting to get tired. Home for 2:30am by the time i unloaded the car, quick coffee and a bit of TV before bed at 3am, back up at 6am with a cat bumping heads with me to get fed. Today will be a quiet sleepy day. Dave
  24. I've never seen one of those before. Dave
