  1. My last car puncture was from lost screw from a cars inner wing or cow catcher below the engine. Pop into any local garage and they'll keep a stock of them. Easy fix by yourself. Dave
  2. Your post had me searching for a 4 stringer version. 😂 A bit too much at the moment and probably doesn't fit in with a 70's Glam covers band. Dave
  3. Love that bass of yours. Dave
  4. In Central Scotland gigs we even need to watch what colours we wear 😂 Dave
  5. Politics, football and personal relationships (wife / partner) should be kept out of bands at all costs. There are plenty of other stupid and ridiculous stuff we can talk about. We are very lucky that we have an ex marine on guitar and his stories keep us amused at every gig when getting dressed for the show. Some of the things those guys got up to are quite simply outrageous and ridiculous whether it was serious or just for fun amongst themselves. Don't think we have any fanatical footballing fans in the band. We do talk about motorbike racing as guitarist and myself are into bikes. We do talk s***e about guitars a lot of the time tho. 😂 Dave
  6. Looking good there Lozz. Dave
  7. Thought you'd moved away from the P basses @Lozz196 Looks like a decent crowd for you too. Nice stage set up. Plenty of space. Nice one. Dave
  8. That bass bridge thing is amazing. Wonder how it works. No longer in production but i wonder why ? Dave
  9. That sounds very interesting. Would love to know how he did it. Dave
  10. What rig / gear were you using @WalMan. Always nice to keep us gear geeks happy. 😂 Dave
  11. Any chance you could give us some more detail of what you're doing with your IEM. ? Maybe what you use and how its all connected. I'm quite interested in going IEM for next year when we hopefully use a PA hire every gig. I might even go ampless on stage perhaps use my Mesa TT800 as a pre-amp. Dave
  12. I'm definitely considering something like this. Dave
  13. Problem with many phones is they focus on vocals and everything else fades slightly quiet during singing and come back up when vocals stop so always very wary of phone recordings. I've usually got the opposite that i cant hear myself on certain stages but on phone recordings the bass is there. Dave
  14. Are you IEM or using backline. Just trying to understand why you didn't up your on-stage master volume. ? I've had occasions like this where all of a sudden drums get louder after soundcheck and guitarist automatically turns up because he knows drummer plays quieter during soundcheck. I just nip up my master to hear myself otherwise i make mistakes when not hearing what i'm doing. We historically don't put guitar and bass amps thru PA altho we've now started using a PA hire company for some gigs with intention of every gig from next year. Dave
  15. No probs Rob, hope its a holiday so have a great time. If its work related you have my sympathy 😂 Dave
  16. Nice one. Your Mk1 WAL should be worth a pretty penny these days too. Wish i had kept mine from early 80's. Dave
  17. when we put the Glam band together in 2018 i was the only one retired. It did make it easier for me to learn songs. I guess i'm just very lucky that the band members all think the same way as myself and that practice and rehearsals are a necessity when learning new songs or when we started the band we rehearsed every week for 3hrs for first 6mths and then the next 6 mths it was for 6hrs every 2 weeks. We did that for a full year before gigging but we knew we were good at that first gig and it just made us more confident to do the showmanship that Glam needs. Currently our new guitarist of 3yrs now is also retired with one of our singers Lynn being a semi-retired nurse. There's not a big age gap between us all tho and i can see how you imagine that's a problem but to them it probably isnt and its just how they prefer to do things. Youngsters these days have a different mind set to us old guys. 😂 Dave
  18. I did come across a fretted one that had twin WALBUCKERS fitted and a filtered EQ pre-amp system similar to WAL system and that bass sounded absolutely gorgeous. Bass Direct have it shown but OUT OF STOCK but you can get them fitted with other Humbucker style pick ups and John East pre-amps so i'm guessing they are a custom order thing. Pic below taken from Bass Direct site and VID below that on Youtube. Dave
  19. Yep that's what we generally do Daryl. We recently added 48 Crash by Suzie Quatro, Mamma Mia by ABBA and reintroduced Jeepster by T.Rex and Cum on Feel the Noise by Slade which we dropped 4 or 5 yrs back but decided to give them another go. Lynn now sings the Slade song and the ABBA songs we do. 48 Crash turned out to be the more difficult one to get right because of the mid section but we eventually got it right on the 2nd gig 😂. We generally try to make a rehearsal a Sun afternoon for 6hrs and bring sandwiches, coffee and of course cake and just feels more like a get together with mates. We normally finish at 5hr mark but studios are almost always 3hr slots but it makes everything a lot less hectic trying to fit a full song list into 3 hrs. With 6hrs we know we can easily slot in new songs and every song we have in our repertoire as some don't get played regularly as we change the sets to suit type of venues. Clubs prefer dancing songs while music venues prefer the rockier type songs or ones like Ziggy Stardust that isn't a very dancing song. I practice the full song list at least once a week at home anyways sometimes twice. Was hard work when i was doing the punk band and the 80's rock band at same time. At 65 i decided it was all too much and dropped it back to our Glam band and its been a good decision. Dave
  20. Wouldn't mind that as a fretted. Dave
  21. Have to admit thats a gorgeous looking bass. Dave
  22. Aye but you're good. 😂 Dave
  23. I get that Daryl. When we are playing every weekend or every 2 weeks regularly we don't bother rehearsing but sometimes we can go 4-6wks without a gig and always throw in a 3hr rehearsal the week before the next gig just to refresh things in our head. I can understand that if playing regularly you don't really need to rehearse unless adding new songs. Dave
  24. Its an odd one but we played a very small bar in Paisley with the Glam covers band and they charged £12 a ticket and sold out. The owner literally closed the bar for an hour to clear out the afternoon drinkers but that was a rare event and we played it twice because we knew the owner thru our punk band that played there regularly. When we played it as the punk band it was free entry. Dave
  25. Think the wedding band thing over here is dependant on your bank balance. When we got married 30 yrs ago this Sunday coming we searched for ages to get the right band that had a decent reputation as being good and not daft money. Have to admit i was happy with them. Would i do it again ? Probably not as most people at weddings would be just as happy with a DJ or even just a playlist thru a PA.. Its much the same when you play birthday parties. Most people aren't there to watch the band and would be just as happy with a playlist in the background. Dave
