Enjoyed that one Rob. Nice wee song. Dave

I'm usually 10-12 hr day with the Glam band and we only play a max of 2.5hrs these days. Dave

Yep good wedding bands are expensive these days but it can be a very long day for a wedding band between setting up before the event and a lot of hanging about for the meal, speeches etc. I guess that's why they charge so much. Wedding band thing just isn't for me. My ideal gig is turn up, plug in, sound check, gig, paid, go home preferably 1-3 miles from home. 😂 Dave

Well done and respect from me for taking that on. I couldn't do it and i've been playing for 40+ yrs. Like how you've labelled the pic with whats on your pedal board. Good idea. Dave

We use QSC gear belonging to our drummer and i have to admit its the best i've heard and used. For smaller gigs we use 12" cabs but i think they have a 2" compression driver but they handle all vocals and acoustic guitar. I've also heard of bass players using these as bass cabs rather than bass amps as they are full range cabs. For anything bigger we use his 3 way 15" cabs but they can cope with anything really but are quite big and a tad heavy. He puts his drums thru these. He also has the sub woofers but we very rarely need them. QSC kit is exceptionally good IME. Dave

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?

Googled the Elwood fretless and had different versions appear. I'm guessing as you mentioned Stingray its the L4P version with HH near the bridge. The others were twin HH and Jazz style bass. Dave -
towbar and trailer .......... sorted. 😂 Dave
-
2 Deloreans in 2 weeks. WOW its a sign. Buy one and make it 3. 😜😂 Dave
-
Nice. What basses have you chosen ? Is that a Sire Jazz in front ? Dave
-
Think it depends on the venue over here Daryl. Bar gigs are usually free but most of the Clubs are tickets. The clubs are usually Bowling Clubs or Ex-Services type clubs rather than the usual Sat night clubbing scene from when we were younger 😂 Dave

Nice wee afternoon gig for us with the Glam band at Polmont Bowling Club. Sold Out too. To be fair it only holds 65 seated. 😂 Organiser was telling us they had a band in last night Sat and it was free entry but only 18 people turned up yet a Sun afternoon ticketed show and it sold out fast with many folks still asking for tickets after selling out. We have played it 3x before to be fair and it was full. Audience up for it from first song so that was great to see. Even the songs with no dancers we got a lot of applause and cheers at the end like Ziggy Stardust. Was very hot and sweaty even with my large fan. Left the house at 10:45am arriving 12 noon. Start time 3pm - 4pm then 4:30 to 5:45pm. Greggs sandwiches supplied too. All went well and home by 8pm via chippie. Used the Sandberg VM4 into Shure wireless and Keeley Comp then Handbox WB-100 and Barefaced 212 cab. Sounded very nice. Dave

ok !!!

That's quite a good set up with your singer also playing guitar. Allows you to fill out the songs a bit more. Our singer in the Glam covers band also plays guitar. Makes quite a difference. Dave
-
That is a bit tight for 3 guitarists plus drums in an alcove i always find makes them loud and sometimes a bit booming. I'm assuming one of the guitarists is the singer. ? Dave

That's sad and happy at the same time Steve. Glad you've all remained the great friends you've always been. Makes sense. All the very best on 7th Oct. Should be a fantastic night with so much emotion. Dave
-
Yep always be prepared. I take spare everything except strings. I take 2 basses, 2 amps, batteries, straps, tools, 2 sets of Glam gear and even 2 boots. 😂 Dave
-
That's gorgeous. Would love to try one. Does it help and make playing a bit easier at the nut end. Dave
-
I tend to use the same black 4" strap with straplocks on all the basses i gig with. I also keep a spare strap that's good quality but not quite as comfy. Because of the Glam gear and wigs etc its easier to throw my strap over my shoulder and under the hair so as not to pull on the wigs and then attach my bass. Sometimes i just put my bass on in changing room and put the wig on last. The things i do for Glam 🤩 Only my Warwick Thumb has its own strap because of where it sits the strap is shorter. Dave
-
I have a Warwick Thumb NT4 i bought in 1989 and love it. Its a keeper and has one of the best necks i've ever played. Its just a bit heavy to gig these days and doesn't suit the Glam band. Did have a Streamer on loan when my Thumb was sent back to Germany after the electronic module failed. Sealed unit and could not be repaired locally back then. Dave

I think he needs to invest in a back up strap and some time in sorting out his pedal board. No-one should be getting shocks from a pedal board. Its generally all low voltage in pedals and suspect its more a static thing than actual voltage shock but definitely needs investigating. I prefer my fans in front of the band 😂😜😂 I take a large 18" gym fan for our female singer and a smaller 16" gym fan for myself. Drummer also uses a 16" gym fan. Wearing Glam costumes and wigs it does get very hot on stage and those fans and 2 litres of water each gig are my saving grace. 🤩 Dave

Its always interesting to hear what gear you pick from such a large collection but i have noticed you do seem to prefer your Spectors. I tried one in Bass Direct but just couldn't take to the neck and went for a Dingwall 5 stringer. Not sure what version it was. Neck felt very plankish and hard to the touch if that makes sense. Just didn't fit my hand shape. Would have been circa £1k - £1.5k price range back in 2016 ish. Dave

Curious what gear you use in a pub band @cetera ? I'm guessing a GK rig but what bass ? Dave

Or she's been telling it to someone else 😂😂😜 Dave -
That was down to the venue. Band name did appear every now and again and was showing before we started. I do like a screen backdrop. Dave

Nice bass @BCH what is it ? Dave
