  1. Have fun and enjoy. We try to slot in a rehearsal the week before a gig if we've not played in 4 or more weeks. I'm down in Selkirk tonight at the Hot Rods in the Borders get together. Usually a great night. This is our 3rd time there. They even moved the event weekend to fit in with our schedule last year as we already had a booking. Dave
  2. Seasoned musicians but mentally is a whole different ball game. 😂 Seriously nice guys who have kept in touch with me for a few yrs now after i sold them my lighting rig during Covid. Basschat is great for making good friends. At some point i'm gonna see that band. Dave
  3. Just re-listening to your sound clips Johna and this band is so blooming good. Dave
  4. The Personal Trainer that takes one of my classes decided to have an hours worth of Ozzy / Black Sabbath songs playing during his class as a tribute to Ozzy. It went down really well. Its great to hear decent music in the gym instead of the usual pop drivel you normally hear. He generally plays decent music. Dave
  5. Its surprising what folks have used to raise pick up heights. TBH i was expecting everyone to be using the same thing but bass players are very resourceful by looks of it. 😂 Dave
  6. That's a great idea. I already have some of that. Dave
  7. That's so sad Steve but understandable. All credit to you guys for keeping it going as long as is possible for him, but sometimes difficult decisions need to be made. As hard as it might be i think you've made the right decision for everyone. Dave
  8. Yep that's exactly my thoughts on it. Dave
  9. what's the XR18 stagebox ? How does that fit into the system. ? Dave
  10. Yep same here. Bass sounds great and on stage sound is excellent. PA fires up and all of a sudden its either hard to hear the bass or its booming out front. IMO the SE should listen to the on-stage sound and simply recreate that out front. I've had one venue where the sound guy does wander about the stage with his tablet during soundcheck and makes adjustments and then goes back to the desk. When we're playing he'll come to the sides of the stage with his tablet. He's also in a band so probably understands it better. Dave
  11. That's a decent pic. Dave
  12. Just another summers day in Scotland. Dave
  13. At least people will be inside watching the bands. That's a lot of rain. Dave
  14. We were 50/50 but working towards all originals. Every few gigs we'd drop a cover and replace with our own. Dave
  15. Yep raffles another one that bugs me and they always run over causing us to start late and either cut the set short or just go for it and the staff can work late 😂 We usually ask if we can play on a bit longer and its usually ok with the staff. Dave
  16. Been looking at the G&L L2000 models (US models rather than the tribute) They get fantastic reviews. Dave
  17. This is where the old guys can remember going to see bands any or every night of the week. Happy days. Dave
  18. Yep i remember the days when you could go see a band every night of the week and they were free access too. Dave
  19. Our drummer wears a hat most gigs but never had any issues. ? Might be better mentioning it to him next time. 👍 Dave
  20. Bingo at half time ? Always do that at our gigs in BL clubs. Dave
  21. In harmony
  22. But we're young at heart @obbm Dave
  23. I'm too old for it. 😂 Dave
  24. yep same as yours Daryl, Blue Burst. It needs a bit more work to get it just right tho. Bridge pick up needs to come up a bit and possibly lower the string height at the nut a little more. I've had it for approx 10 yrs but just used it at home. Recently decided to set it up properly and try gigging it. Dave
  25. Its actually an Overwater J4 Contemporary that they put together from spares they had when taking samples to Tanglewood. They only made a few of these so no serial numbers etc. Its a decent bass but i was finding it a bit heavy in the 2nd set and moved to my trusty VM4 for last 5 or 6 songs. Part of the problem was i hadn't gigged for 4 weeks so my back was feeling it. It sounded ok but i really need more time to get the best out of it. I had dropped the string height at the nut and raised the neck pick up by 5mm but still hadn't adjusted the bridge pick up to balance it so it was a bit bass heavy and lacked a bit of mid drive. I'll get that sorted this week and might give it another go. I like the look of it in the pics. The other thing was it was a lot hotter than my Sandberg and i had to tweak amp volume a bit at change over. I believe there are gain pots in the control cavity that would drop the gains from the pick ups more in line with my Sandberg. I think its Kent Armstrong pick ups and pre-amp. Dave
